"Flat earth?" Who are these people and what is their purpose?

Why would US planes fly far north toward Alaska on the way to Japan if the earth was flat. It's a shorter path on a sphere.

Can someone please travel to the edge and film it then...

Are you trying to cause trouble? Your use of the word ignorant is misplaced regarding my question. I don't know literally every fact in the world. I know nothing about jets or planes or engineering, flight. I am not a science guy.

Only the truly ignorant suggest a question asked to be ignorant. A desire to know something is the means to the end of not knowing, which is ignorance.

Seeking answers is the least ignorant thing a person can do.

In fact we are all wired up brains in a space ship named 'Zarg'.

So in fact, the Matrix has successfully programmed you all to believe that you are on a planet called Earth and every ATS member (incl myself) is a quantum computer AI Bot.

Are you more interested in what you started this thread about or in using the same ignorant claims that flat-earthers use to challenge rational people?

I just googled "why don't the people believe in a flat earth travel to the edge"

And ended up at "the flat earth society" website..

Not to point fingers and laugh but.. I am pointing fingers and laughing, funny as s*** reading what they say..

Here are some of the stuff they say why you cant travel to the edge.

NASA guards would stop you long before you reached the edge.

Being so far away from the sun, I have to agree we Goth. It would simply be too cold and depleted of atmosphere at that distance.

The Conspiracy doesn't steal the ice. They are just keeping it in storage. If global warming warms up enough they are saving the ice because they will have a corner on the market to sell to the Eskimos for building igloos.

There is a whole conspiracy about whether they use guns or just peck you to death, rumor has it that someone went there and got killed by one of the penguins.

We live on an oblate spheroid. The only oblate spheroid in the ENTIRE OBSERVABLE UNIVERSE is the one we happen to be living on. Sorry, I don't have any pics of the 'pear' we live on, but it must be true because 'science' says so. Good enough for me.

We have been exposed to the round Earth theory for centuries. We have all seen images of the Earth in the shape of a circle. We are told that this circle is three dimensional whereby we instantly envision the 'sphere', and accept the 'ball model' as undeniable fact because everyone knows that a basketball is round...
These images of Earth as a spherical 'object' are forced on us repeatedly, night and day, through all known mediums. Can any of you remember a time when science offered any other possible shape of the Earth plane? No? Ok, so we must therefore live on a ball, a round world, spinning in the cold vacuum of 'space', around the sun, hurtling across the universe at neck snapping speeds. Sounds logical to me.

But wait, something happened, we found out recently, that we are wrong in our interpretation of the worlds shape and that the rock we live on isn't really a ball at all. What now? But I've seen the Earth, it's round, look I have a globe right here, see, it's perfectly round. Sorry, no, mainstream science now claims the Earth to be an oblate spheroid. Ok, cool, so the images of Earth, you know the ones you've been force feeding me my whole life are now incorrect? Is that what science is saying? Yes folks, that's what they want us to 'believe' now.

Ok, well that ends the debate then, yeah? THE EARTH ISN'T FLAT, IT'S AN OBLATE SPHEROID.

Just spent some of the evening looking into Flat Earthers. You are just being lazy because there are loads of You Tube videos you can watch which will answer your questions.

Actually we should be asking why there is a group of people calling themselves Flat Earthers who are going against the mainstream. Are they dissatisfied with what they have been "told"? This seems to be their underlying message - that we should ask questions and do our own investigations to test what we are being told - because we know that everything is the truth right? We have never been lied to, ever, by religion, governments, educators etc. have we?

Is this movement the result of some sort of cognitive dissonance or a government/corporate sponsored psyops/experiment? It does happen. There was the Facebook thing not that long ago for example, and although governments have admitted to historical testing on unknowing and un-consenting populations, they have never said they stopped doing it. Is the conspiracy community being infiltrated so that it can be divided and conquered? Are Flat Earthers specifically being singled out for something in the future?

I noticed that NASA features heavily as evidence of Flat Earth and the moon/space hoax too. There are many ATSers who agree with these hoaxes. It is also interesting to note that NASA has recently changed the shape of the earth from being a sphere to pear-shaped. And what with the snorkels in space/gelled hair, bubbles and the antics on the ISS, NASA gets quite a bashing from Flat Earthers, which is for the most part very amusing.

Flat Earthers use quotes from the bible to show that the earth has a firmament (dome) and is non-moving with a rotating sky and other world religions also seem to take this view. I can't comment on the validity of the bible, although a large proportion of people believe that it is true and equally with the other religions. Interestingly if these are genuine quotes taken from the bible, then Flat Earth supports the Christian view that the earth was created and us in turn and there must also be a creator (or God).

Just to add; it is at this very point in any 'flat earth' thread that I've been involved in across the Internet, with people from all walks of life from all over the world, where the discussion suddenly stops.

Interesting isn't it. Mention the oblate spheroid theory vs the ball theory and the thread stalls.

Whilst its OK to have threads about the mandela effect, UFOs, cloned celebrities, seeing 11:11, celebrities who died but aren't dead, someones dream prediction, niburu, that we all live in the matrix (or just insert latest film), stargates etc we can't have a discussion about why people are believing this now and examining what it is they are actually saying.

Ball earthers will cite scientific proof of the ROUND earth, whilst not being scientists themselves.

Ball earthers will attack the flat earthers directly, discrediting the sanity of the OP.

Ball earthers will do this while ignoring the very science they are defending.

Defending a ball earth when science now claims earth to be shaped like a oblate spheroid.
