Trans people have been using public washrooms for a very long time, this only came out in a election year to rile up the right just to let them forget there party is imploding and trying to elect a clown.

This is about a public servant using inappropriate wording in an email to his staff.

No, Gender Dysphoria did not come out because of an election year.

It came out because trans kids in public school were being harassed by parents of non-trans kids. Trans kids fought back through the media and legal system.

Ok, I think you cleared a lot of that up nicely. Thanks.

Thanks for reading and glad I could answer some of your questions. I had a look over what I said and realize that at nearly 3:00 AM, after working an unusually physical 10-hour day and a couple glasses of wine, I don't always make sense.

Oh yeah, in another post you wondered if cis was a pejorative term. It is not. Cis and trans are Latin and used in science and chemistry. When speaking or writing of trans issues, "cis" is a much better than saying "normal" and a lot less typing than saying non-transgender. That's all it means. Something else you mentioned... although I'm not the "biker" type, I am a motorcyclist, lifetime member of the AMA and have about 210,000 two-wheeled miles on the street of which I'm quite proud. I met my future husband at a track day in 1984 when I was 29. MotoGP is my favorite sport to watch and I'm a diehard fan.

Thanks again. After that sort of day I think I'd have been restricted to one word answers

I kinda figured normal wouldn't have gone well which is why I avoided it.

40k more miles and you'll reach the moon!
I have a cat called Valentino, so that should tell you where my motogp loyalties lie, although the TT is what really gets me every year.
Still looking forward to Assen this weekend.

Hope you are very happy with each other btw, my 17th anniversary is next weekend and I'm sure having a bike to blow off some steam on has kept me sane enough to get over my part in the rows we sometimes had, so if both of you ride then you should be onto a winner!

ETA that was in 84 so it should be you giving the rest of us tips :-)

Respects
S

Back in the days we had the Lesbian/Gay movement, which i support.

Then the T came in, and the term LGBT was termed.

I was not happy about it, being lesbian/gay is a sexual orientation.
Being Trans is a body/gender issue.

2 completely different topics.
This whole Bathroom issue is a Trans topic.

Lesbians/Gays have nothing to do with it. They have the least problem in using a same sex bathroom.

I've heard this before as well. Also, I seem to remember, in the 90's it being Gay/Lesbian and Gl and GLBT and GLBBTQQIAAP. Not LGBT.... When did that change happen? Anyone?

Its about Equal Rights/Equal treatment.

As I've followed it over the years, the different factions have come together in support of each other. Not everyone is on board, of course.

I used to listen to Michelangelo Signorile when I had XM radio. It was interesting watching/listening to his own evolution.

When you are a small minority, you need to "circle the wagons", so to speak.

Time wise, I'd say in about the last 10 to 15 years, but the T was introduced in the late 1990s.

The Civil Rights Act would not have happened without diversity support.

Congrats on your 17th anniversary! Just to clarify so nobody gets the wrong impression, unfortunately, we were only together for 12 years. Our divorce had nothing to do with my childhood history and I was the one that left him. Even though he has remarried, he's still my dearest friend in the world. "Family" if you will and I'm even friends with his current wife since I've known her from when I was still married and she was married to someone else. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Still looking forward to Assen this weekend.

Yeah, on Sunday for the first time instead of the traditional Saturday running. I have a streaming subscription and get up at 2:00 AM for the Euro rounds to watch Moto3 live, Moto2 at 3:20 and the big show at 5:00 and I never miss qually. I told you I was a fan! I watch F1 too but am not quite as involved. Motorsports are the only sports I like and I even used to be a mod on a national racing forum (SpeedTV) then had my own website and forum for a few years. I watch the IoM TT every year too! It boggles the mind.

Even as his age, VR46 is still a god!

(Sorry for the off topic remarks)

It is not my intention to ridicule any group or person, for any reason, but I am starting to question how far down the rabbit hole we may be going.
You might want to take a look at a recent video on You Tube where an
AfD Politician ridicules Green Party LGBTTQQ-Proposal by greeting Parliament in 60 different Genders
Is it getting out of control? You be the judge. The video does indeed speak for itself, but it shows as well the increasing difficulty society may have incurred on itself.

Equal Rights/Equal treatment is not complicated or difficult.

While sexuality/gender may be fluid - - - social etiquette remains the same.

People, especially certain people, choose to make it difficult, when it really isn't.

Not sure what your point is.

The man is being rather childish, as far as I'm concerned.

He could have just as easily sarcastically addressed the 2,700 religions that Germany would be "forced to tolerate" under a religious freedom clause. Naming 60 gender types does not make the guy correct on his standpoints; if anything it suggests that he doesn't really have many arguments.

I can't find anything about Steffen Königer in English.

Not knowing what he's about politically makes this video pointless, IMO.

Hi, good to know.

Didn't want you to feel attacked (without at least a hello
) for your contribution, even though I agree with DeadFoot - - the politician is being childish.

No, you do have a point here. This new thing about Trans being able to use the room they identify with was so they could use the room they identify as rather than the one they were born as.

So a Man who Identifies as a Woman can use the Ladies Room.
A Woman who Identifies as a Man can use the Men's Room.

But that didn't change anything for someone who Identifies as what they were born as.

So a Man who Identifies as a Man still is supposed to use the Men's Room. Nothing changed there.

So these guys who identify as guys should be using the Guys Locker Room still. They aren't Transgender. They're just A-Holes getting their jollies being in the ladies room with their dicks out.

These new policies didn't change all restrooms into unisex bathrooms. All it did is allow for Transgender people to go into the bathroom they identify with.

Most people know this and while you do have a point here in your argument I wouldn't blow it out of proportion though. This is one isolated case of some Lifeguards acting stupid and what's probably some Activist LGBT people who obviously don't understand what it is they're complaining about but just want to complain about something.

The thing is, the laws in place, in areas that have them, don't specify any set criteria for who can or can't use the restroom of their choice. That opens the door for those who are willing to abuse the system. As a result, that means people will see trans people as a problem, and that could result in a not of negativity. Bad for all involved, I think.

ha indeed. Perhaps some ritalin to ensure her ideologies are properly enhanced as she's forcibly shifted into the hive mind of all things PC.

Sounds about right! Assimilate or else is the new mantra!

LGBT?

Shouldn't that be LGBTQWERTYUIOPASDFHHJKZXCVNM+-=×€£? NOW?

Sounds about right, if the FB labels are any indication!! I can't keep track anymore.

Heck, from all I have read, neither can some in those groups. Isn't there a "fluid" category, too?

This is -- and probably always was -- about men forcing themselves into the ladies' room.

If it were otherwise, then -- at the very least -- there would be some criteria included that would separate cisgender and autogynephilic men from those who actually make the effort to transition to a woman. But there is no such criteria, so any man is free to use the ladies' room, dressing room, locker room, shelters, etc.

Gender means nothing at this point. As long as anyone can make up their own definition, it has no meaning.

That's exactly it! When anyone can state who and what they are, reality aside, there can be no standards. Plus, if a lot of the trans men still prefer women, how can allowing them in be a good thing?

The solution has always been an easy one. Unisex bathrooms with enclosed urinals and stalls. There should be cameras inside every restroom, but of course, not in the urinals or stalls. Problem solved. One large bathroom for everyone with surveillance.

Not ideal, but at this point, I see few alternatives. It's a bit late to go back now. We have to deal with it.

Not sure I like that idea any better. Single occupant ones, or family-size, is one thing. I can't imagine my teens, either sex, wanting to share a bathroom with the opposite one, private stalls or no private stalls. Can't imagine many older women would want that, either. Then there is the problem of changing rooms, at gyms and pools, and locker rooms, school or otherwise. The expense of single use areas would be impossible for many places to manage.

The trick i imagine is if you fall into the category of being a fool that cannot follow simple Toilet etiquette by using the correct facility's then use your own at home or take what you get.

That would seem to make sense. But these days, I am not sure making sense is the goal!
