If Boris had done that then why is the ad up again? You have regulators for this type of decision and I am sure OfCOM are up to the job.
For the same reason the new mayor won't get it changed. It's not his decision. That doesn't stop him having an opinion and trying though.

Anyone with a leg of sense knows that many of the adverting posters are adapted technically to get the best possible image and women's bodies are certainly altered.
Yep, but it portrays women in an unrealistic light. Just like the new mayor says.

Censorship needs to be very carefully handled otherwise we get a dictatorship and coming from a Muslim mayor one doesn't need a brain cell to see his agenda.
It isn't censorship. It's about standards.

Again, the previous mayor was on the exact same page as the current mayor. Oh, that's right. The old mayor wasn't a Muslim or had any colour. How could I forget that makes a different.

Having a policy on what adverts you accept is not censorship.

Do you assign everyones motivation based on entirely on religion or do you see Muslims as a special case?

You do not know what you are talking about.

As mayor of London, he runs Transport for London, and is perfectly entitled to request that modifications are made to what is advertised on the billboards that he is responsible for.

There is no federal law in the UK. There is British Law. He is working wholly within it.

You are ignorant of division of powers and were discrimination lies. Being in charge of public transit and the responsibilities of that is not the same thing as trying to pass discrimination laws against women, and introducing any form of sharia. THAT IS A FEDERAL THING.

Like I said, overstepping boundaries 100% and just 1 law suit shows him that mayors can't discriminate those are Federal and Constitutional things!

One law suit takes him out behind the shed and paddles his buttside hard!

Thats what makes this place so hilarious. They're really not trolling. This is a message board where white supremacists meet to promote their view of a world driven by white man's rules.

You do know this is a thread about London in the UK? And that US federal laws and the US constitution don't apply here? Pretty sure this has already been covered on this thread.

Besides which this has nothing to do with censorship, discrimination or sharia law and is simply TFL having its own standards for accepting adverts, theexact same as any other organisation is entitled to do.

Was attacking ads with women on them part of his campaign promises when he was running for office? I doubt if people saw this coming he wouldn't gotten elected.

THIS is his first major act as the first Muslim Mayor of London?

Absurd.

He hasn't done any "major acts".

The first "act" he did do was attend a holocaust memorial ceremony.

Just as long as he does not think all those "scantily clad women" in the advertisements should be wearing burkas, then just like anyone else, he's entitled to his opinion.

I am pretty confident that a decision on advertising on TFL (similar to ones made by previous major) isn't major.
It isn't even the most significant decision relating to TFL (just one part of his responsibilities).

Wow this thread blew up. If a woman sees someone in shape and gets offended or feels inadequate then that person needs to deal with those feelings their having, not force society to deal with them for them.

Maybe these super mods are right and I'm a huge bigot (strange I don't feel like one and many people of different races, cultures, and creeds seem to get along with me just fine, but I'm sure thats just a weird coincidence) but it seems we'll just have to wait and see how many personal musings or decisions this mayor makes that just so happen to align with his religious beliefs as well. Only time will tell.

That's one of the most important acts a politician can do. You dont get anywhere in politics without pledging allegiance. How many of you are familiar with the Wailing Wall?
------------
Speaking as a conservative; some of you Right Wingers are so frakkin stupid; jumping to conclusions when all the information you need is on the first page of this thread. Just because he's a Muslim doesn't mean he's bringing about Sharia. In case you haven't seen the picture, neither his wife nor his kids wear burkas or even cover their hair. As a conservative, I agree with the good mayor. We got half-dressed hoes in the media everywhere you look and that can't be good. A little more modesty would be nice. Pretty much every religion agrees, plus many moral atheists. Save something for the imagination, you know? Some of y'all need to pull your heads out of your asses and stop treating islamophobia the way Al Sharpton treats racism.
Apart from the Sharia followers, normal ass Muslims are actually also conservatives for the most part. You alienate potentially helpful allies. Let's not forget that all Muslims are terrorists in the same way that all gun owners are mass shooters. Besides you can tell just by looking at that the mayor is a Muslim sell out. He's willing to bend over backwards for political points. I have a feeling that devout Muslims think of him the same way educated black folk think of Obama.
------------
What I don't agree with are his reasons. I think the fat girls need to chill out, & maybe hit the gym. If a fitness model causes you to be depressed about the way you look then the ad is not at fault. Maybe if you took care of your body then you wouldn't be so depressed when you see someone that does. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? How come I don't get depressed when I see a picture of Channing Tatum? Because while I'm not a bodybuilder, I do try to keep myself in shape. I try to eat right and exercise. Sometimes I don't try hard enough. If were to come across Tatum's photograph during one of my belly periods, I would bad about myself. But I'd have no one to blame but myself. And that feeling of inadequacy even helps me get back on track and stick to the plan. So I have no sympathy for y'all.

I'm so glad Kahn won the position of London mayor, the opponent was a racist creep who's smear campaign totally backfired on him. He would have been no good for the people of London.
