Those who know my posts, know I am far from a sensitive wet noodle social justice warrior. I'm also black. I found the first ad offensive.

You can still find very offensive stereotype images of blacks in Asia (think many of the images from the 20s-40s with the big white eyes, lips, eating watermelon...

Knowing this when I see this ad with an Asian chick and a black guy, that is my frame of reference. This is not to say that is what was meant, but that is how it came off. Also, why would they have a normal looking black guy with paint emerge as some waify looking asian guy? What was the benefit?

In the second ad, at least the black guy who came out the washing machine was sexy. that one made more sense to me and I didn't find it offensive.

These are both a little weird racially speaking, the commercials may have similar themes but the products differentiate the intent. The Asian one is just a laundry detergent, she "cleans him" into a nice pale asian guy. I'm guessing this was a Thai commercial. Thai culture tends to attribute dark skin with negative attributes like lack of intelligence and being of a lower class ("Dark skin" being associated with working outdoors as a poor general laboror) paleness is considered far more desirable. It's not just people from other countries, Even dark skinned Thai's are attributed negative attributes. I'm betting this is a Thai commercial.

The second commercial is a detergent for "Bringing out colors" so at least the theme of the commercial kinda makes sense.

So does the truth. Any Italian who wasn't a full citizen of Rome was a slave or a "freedman" who had zero rights or legal protections aside from their freedom of travel. That existed for 700 years. Asians have an even longer standing history of being sold into slavery, for 1400 years, Japan utilized and traded their own into slavery... The Mongols took vast numbers of Chinese as slaves... All Chinese dynasty periods authorized slavery and advocated taking women and children from conquered states as slaves... Angkor Wat in Cambodia was built entirely by Asian slaves.

I did not own slaves, no one alive was owned as a slave. I have sympathy for the people that were slaves, good thing that's over in the United States. I have nothing to apologize for, I do not need to treat anyone any better or any worse because of something that I had nothing to do with before I was even born.

I am going to treat everyone equally. You don't get credit because of something that happened to your ancestors. Everyone has equal rights and equal opportunity in the United States in the eyes of the law. I live in the here and now. If you and your religious cult want to live in the past, then that is your right.

I believe in actual progress, and all of this racist nonsense you people hold onto is holding us back, not pushing us forward.

Yea, but only if your skin is darker genetically. In America If you're a tanned white guy you're perfectly fine. A thai with a tan is oftentimes assumed to be uneducated and crass.

Many black and African people still suffer indirectly and directly from the colonialism and slavery from the 16th century up until the 1960’s

Why do you think African, Arab, and many Asian countries are so poor?

Indeed many African countries didn’t get their freedom until the 60’s and 70’s.

So this holocaust for Africans IS NOT ancient history
