So anyway, give that article a read and let's have a discussion.

We are just one election away, and one attack against the Fatherland away from martial law

I've been at ATS now for 8 years - and I've never once typed anything remotely close to that

There's a reason for this. And now? All bets are off

Good thread

Wrong again. Getting to be a pretty bad habit there.

What's been stopping you? We've been that close for all of those eight years. I wonder what blinders you had on that you didn't see it?

Perhaps he borrowed yours from the previous eight years?

Please, give the one-sided-show a rest. Along with the "I told you so" crap.

The focus is really on authoritarianism to explain Trumps rise, it's not to point fingers and accuse Conservatives. The GOP platform for decades now has been authoritarian and Trump takes it to a whole new level however it isn't just Conservatives that support the GOP or Trump...

Modern Republicanism: authoritarian when in power, leftist/anarchist when out.

LOL.

What I object too is when they can use the power of government to force the rest of us to conform to them.

This right here... this seems to be at the heart of so much. You're continuously told through various media sources that you're being forced to conform but are you actually?

This is why we don't want a big federal government.

A government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take it all away just as quickly. You never stop to think about that. This is the limited government argument in a nutshell. But hey! So long as you can leverage that power to give you all you ever wanted ... it's fine with you.

And I will say "I told you so" all I wanted because I have been telling you so. If you weren't astute enough to think far enough ahead, or you were deluded enough to think it would never happen that you would risk losing that power on your behalf, that's not my problem and it give you any basis to tell me not to point it out.

I'll use the 1st Amendment as long as I have it.

Aside from the droning platitudes ... I don't disagree per se about the size of ANY government, I'm for the reduction of all GOVERNMENT and the restoration of same to Constitutional limits.

You never stop to think, apparently, that government is the problem, at every level.

There is far, far more corruption and theft of freedom at the county, city and State levels than at the Federal.

The County Sheriff is a far more likely tyrant having a far greater threat against your daily life than whomever is in the White House.

Of course, you're going to take the dramatic course and claim that I'm trying to shut your speech down.

I disagree with you in almost every post you make. I'll state that as well.

I'm going to resist your tendency at subtle ad hom this time. But Ketz, letz not point the delusional/naive pen too far.

Glad you're finally on board with supporting the 1st Amendment; has nothing to do with what you post on ATS.

As I mentioned earlier, the article equates a "latent" authoritarian tendency, as defined by them, to authoritarianism, neither of which is equitable. Also, I am still missing the data from where they are generating these opinions.

Let's just say we don't all of us see the same things - right ketsuko? I do not see your world - never have - never will

My reasons are mine
