The article read to me like pure speculation. Carson threw out 5 random names, I doubt that's Trumps actual list. If that article is like the one I read on Yahoo it doesn't even say it's Trumps list, it says it's Carsons speculation on Trumps list.

You're right. Trump likes winners, but his definition of 'loser' may not be so expansive that it eliminates people like Carson or Kasich or Gingrich.
The VP does not have to be anyone from the political arena, so Trump could pick someone from the business world or the military ranks.
