Isis is as close to true islam as one can be. Their beliefs are exactly following the commands of the qur'an. The big difference is that all muslims believe that the quran is the actual real word of god. There have been many worldwide polls and surveys done in the very recent past that show that literally a billion muslims of those polled support sharia law. And not in theory but in practice and this includes stoning for adultery, killing gays death for apostasy there are hundreds of reasons why islam is bad. And yet no one ever gives reasons as to why it is good. DId you actually read the list of prohibitions and regulations? I always see the most ignorant uniformed well meaning lazy liberal minded people try to defend such nonsense. It reminds me of those who try to defend minorities. There is also a category of person called a realist, It seems that most of the knee jerk reactions to the original post are so lacking of any serious thought or rationality. Everyone likes to say that Christians killed people, yes so but on a sincerely small scale and hundreds of years ago. Any cursory glance at current belief and behavior shows that this is not the case today. Christian used to kill people muslims Still DO. What many seem to miss is the simple fact that whatever culture is dominant controls the society. I personally do not want to live under a culture of ridiculous archaic superstitious religious wacko neanderthals. The idea that religion deserves respect is a funny thing because according to the fair and genius liberals this only applies to the almighty islam they have no problem criticizing and condemning all others. Yet they are willing to fight and defend this political ideology masquerading as a religion.
I challenge anyone to spend just a couple hours and learn what islam is actually about, its founding, its beliefs,

You seem to forget that many governments are allied to a religion whether the people like it or not. Ordinary people don't get a choice and so sharia sly coming into my country in the biggest cities isn't funny, or a choice. You also don't take into account that islam brain washes men every time they attend the mosque having been schooled in the madrases from childhood.

Its when you speak to people from so-called islamic countries working over here, such as an Iranian friend who told me Islam was fine until it was forced onto them with the Ayotollah Khomeini that Iran changed and the religious police took to the streets.

Personally I like religion in the way it rules our lives, for me it should be a personal choice and certainly not oinked into politics or have its own police forces - I do understand real and what's trying to manifest, do you?

The truth about religion is that there is no truth. You think there is only one, singular definition of what should count as religion? Think again. The sacred is, potentially, anywhere and everywhere.
