This may be the most pathetic rant I've ever read on ATS. Congrats!

If you had simply complained about the quality of posts... the lack of research beyond one article... or the lack of personal opinion and commentary in the OP... or the echo chamber of comments... or the mean and nasty nature of comments... I would have been right there with you. Or if you had in any other way addressed improving the quality of posts/comments, I would have been right there with you. But instead you complain that there are any political posts at all -- gasp! oh the horror of it!!! -- and just want to completely and totally shut down any political dialogue whatsoever. Because YOU don't like it.... or, more specifically, you don't like the --

..."woe is me" right wing echo chamber nonsense...
.

Perhaps you should have just asked the Mods for a "Safe Space" forum where you could go and hide and lick your wounded woe-is-me-left-wing sensibilities.

Aww, I'm sorry that I hurt your feewings

Hahahaha!!! Hurt my feelings? LOL!

Don't give yourself so much credit. You ain't got what it takes to hurt my feelings. I'm actually wearing my big girl panties. I'm armed and ready. I don't need to shut people up to protect my widdle feewings.

Of course, given the context of your rant I totally understand why you would think so... we do tend to judge others by our own standards...

Says the person who read the first post then commented without reading the rest. IF you bothered to follow the post, you would clearly see that I stated removing all political discourse was a knee-jerk reaction, and it is the QUALITY and CONTENT and REACTIONS to the posts that are the issue.

IF you cannot see that there is clearly a slant to the right on the low quality posts that are doing nothing than trying to get people worked up, then you are either being willfully ignorant about it, or you are part of the problem. But, I digress.

All they need to do is remove them from the recent threads list like 'chit chat etc'

Then those who want the 1001st thread on trump or hilary YAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN can go to the politics forum and the rest of the world and those in the states who who are bored of them too, can actually find other interesting threads without having to page down endlessly or check each forum you are interested in

So please just take them off the recent threads page.

simples

P.S. Would make the site much more user friendly especially to new people who would be able to see the good stuff rather than endless threads saying the same thing over and over (by the same people usually).

Partisan politics... Big Sigh.

If YOU cannot see that there is clearly a left-right partisan slant in the low quality posts that are doing nothing more than trying to get people worked up and/or shut down discussion -- and therefore information and education -- then you are being willfully ignorant about it and you are part of the problem.

Argh! I cannot take it any more ... I very rarely post. I have been a member of ATS for a long long time and stop by often to read threads on interesting conspiracies, aliens, and the like. This being said, there's been a slow progression to the main page being almost dominated by political posts, mostly inane garbage by a few individuals who will remain nameless (I'm sure you know who they are). Generally these topics are pure click-bait, "woe is me" right wing echo chamber nonsense with the premise "disprove this!" ... which in itself is a logical fallacy in argumentation ... and the threads usually break down in a page or two into polarizing name calling.

This is NOT the ATS that I grew to love years ago, this is becoming a political troll site where ignorance is not being denied, it is being perpetuated. If I wanted to see this type of "debate" I would read the comments section of any typical news outlet. I love the fact that over the years there have been some absolutely fantastic topics where the issues were DISCUSSED and RESEARCHED, not someone's hurt feelings starred to the top of the list by people with political agendas.

For the love of god ATS, PLEASE change the atmosphere here, push the site back to its origins, and what truly brought me and many others here to begin with.

Freedom of speech and expression is of paramount importance to not only a free society, but to any institution that claims to be in favor of intellectual discourse, and discovery. It is of equal importance to protect the rights of the people to say not only things we like, but also things we do not like.

I hope this request is ignored. There is enough censorship on ATS...adding to it will only serve to further take us away from our core mission to "Deny Ignorance".

Why?, what is this..scientology. I'm referring to this.."Remember to not talk about members that are no longer here. That's a no-no"
I guess it's in the T&C..I will have to read them again.

I don't see any political threads on top of the homepage right now and none in the "Top Topics: 30 days"

Yes, there are many political threads (I'm engaged in several) right now but there are also lots of other topics being discussed.

If you see something in a thread about a topic that interests you, add to that thread by agreeing and linking supporting material or disagree, again, linking supporting material for your stance; kinda like I did with that screen shot above indicating that there is a lot more than just politics being discussed here on ATS...

There are few good content writers here anymore. Perhaps they all left because of the authoritarian approach, of ATS, that you wish to make even more authoritarian.

Why do people like you need to enforce your personal wishes on everyone else?

Just choose not to read those threads(which I agree are mostly garbage).

Thread titles make you sick? Squiggly lines on a screen about someone else's opinions and priorities leave you ill?

Where does this hypersensitivity come from?

Perhaps you are too young to realize that: Life is too short to sweat the small stuff--and it is mostly all small stuff.

I suggest you scroll on by.

Perhaps sooner or later you will realize that you canNOT conform the world/remake the world in your image. And that constantly ranting, vainly trying to do so will tire you out and make you ill--particularly if you routinely include such petty issues in such efforts.

Pick your battles. You do NOT have unlimited precious bodily fluids, time, or energy. Some things are worth it and some things are not.

This election is dividing the country in a major way few others have done. I don't want to read ignorant rants or opinions, it all ends up as name calling. Keep 'em all on the political forum and off the rest of the forums. Then people wanting to debate this can do so without screwing up the rest of the forums

If we are no longer able to ignore certain boards, maybe we should be able to favorite all the others...

That said, as discussion boards become larger, they often times become diluted to the point that it is not about what was originally intended. Most people don't care that it has become diluted, they just want to discuss "argue" about anything with people they know. By "people they know" I mean, people they like to Jimmy rustle. Other people remember what it once was and long for that feeling of home, like when you hear the elderly talk about how great the 50's were.

Its like if there was a TV show with a 1000 characters, no one could ever care much about all of them if they were all similar. If some stood out, the rest would be cannon fodder to be Jimmy rustled.

No amount of heavy handed nazi modding can ever separate Jimmy rustling arguments from politics.

Getting rid of the political forums would be an awesome idea.

It would be nice to see actual conspiracy related stories on the front page again.

2 of the first 5 posts are about Hillary Clinton. 6 of the first 11 are political. Dropping down to the third tier stories that get half the space, 11 of the 20 are political.

That's right this moment. 17 of the 31 stories on the front page are political. Over 50%.

My go to page is recent posts.
The default 'filter' is conspiracies.
And quite frankly I don't understand why posts in the 2016 elections forum are shown in this list.

Other threads disappeared from my radar because mods moved them to Rant or general chit chat.

I can live with it but I can see OP's point and would find it more suiting if all these political rants (which they mostly are) would not show in my most recent conspiracy related posts.

Just sayin'
