WE NEED GERMAN-STYLE PUBLIC RESTROOMS.

Yes, I said it. The Germans have it right. Well, Austrians too ... Vienna had similar public bathrooms or "WC's" (water closets) as they're called there.

Take a look:



Each door? That's a tiny ROOM. No gaps along the floor or around the top. The door seals completely. Sometimes, there's even a light switch inside. You are 100% PRIVATE inside that little room. They're also very, very sound-proof and lock from the inside.

European public bathrooms gave me the best public bathroom experiences I've ever had. Hand down.

It made me think our American-style "stalls" were pretty barbaric and uncivilized by comparison.

Let's just get rid of urinals and put in awesome super-private rooms for all? There you go, problem solved. I bet people why shy bladders and people who can't poo in public restrooms would be quite pleased.

Seriously. German public bathrooms rock. I lived in the Frankfurt airport for a few days...I loved those bathrooms. So clean, so private...

EDIT: I forgot about this in Germany too:

The wildly engrained separation of genders in bathrooms spaces also differs here. One common trend in German bathrooms is that sinks are shared by men and women and are in a room centrally located between the gendered rooms for the men’s and women’s WCs. There is a practicality to it that isn’t found in the United States; it saves space and necessitates fewer sinks for people to wash their hands. It just makes sense. It’s praktisch. Use less space and fewer resources to do the same thing that having two sets of sinks would do.
