I've been wanting to. Been promising myself I'll do something for a few years.

Was in a youth club as a kid, but life just gets busy I guess. Place I work has said they will match my charity donations dollar for dollar, so I might do this but I'd rather do something practical I guess.

You did what you could when you could Woody which is more than most folks. You have that to be proud of. Maybe you could write a nice letter for your Niece and put it in an envelope and have the parents let her read it when she is older. I'm sure that would mean a lot to her some day.

I have tried this numerous times, but it's more difficult than it sounds. I have a cancer nurse who has been helping me, but still I don't know what to say. I will try again this week. Hopefully she will be able to access this thread in the future. In some future archive. I just feel there's little a 36 year old male can give much advice to a month year old baby

Maybe not advice, but tell her about you, what you have done, the food you liked the best, what colors, you feelings of joy, sadness. what you have seen, your favirot places, music, movies. Dont try to give wisdom, let the wisdom come from the story you tell, let that story be who you are

Let her know that it is the simple things in life that matter most, to always believe in herself, to know how much of a difference she can make in others people's lives simply by being loving, compassionate and kind, never to take anyone or anything for granted, to always see the beauty of nature and all that it holds. Let her know that she is loved, that she matters and you will be watching over her. Tell her about yourself and how you have touched so many lives just by being you and that she can too. Tell her about things that you have enjoyed in life and about yourself.

Wish her a beautiful life filled with love and joy. I think these things will make her happy and she will feel your love.

I would like to add a suggestion to imod's and Night Star's ideas... take photos or save images of all the things you like/love and compile a 'visual diary' for your niece and even your family. (That old adage, a picture speaks a thousand words.) And maybe, add a sentence to each about what you like/love about it.

I hope you can stay positive. We may not know each other, but I do pray that you still have time to accomplish the things you feel you need to.

Hi Woody, thinking of you today!

Maybe the best way to go about writing to your Niece is just start conversationally, with whatever happens to be on your mind at the moment. Don't criticize it... trust there's a reason it's come to mind.

Imod02 and Night Star have some excellent starters for you, I see :-)

Blessings to you, today and always!

ETA: you are quite wrong about whether a 36 yo male can offer wisdom to a 1 mo... Uncles are a gift from God in any case, so you have already fulfilled a momentous quest in a way, just by being you.

Why not try video? Say what you need to say. Share some of your favorite memories and advice in getting on in the world. Have a photo slideshow with your favorite pics and music on it, too.

Things ain't all bad. I've been very lucky, I get two young attractive care givers a day, who help me wash and dry. After which I meditate till lunch then I treat myself to something I enjoy for lunch. More meditation, then watch some tennis or football. I just wish I could live and enjoy the experience of life. I would do anything for a few more years, but while things are as they are its important to make the best of it. No point beating myself up after the situation I'm in. Just try and get as much from life as I can. I would literally do anything to have a longer life and do any job required for no money.

Woody, I too wish you could be around for longer. I don't think anyone is ever truly ready to leave this place, but you will be able to move beyond this earthly existence into something better. We will all share your fate and pass on from here and age has nothing to do with it. There are children who pass away, teens, elderly and every age in between. We'll meet up with you again and have one hell of a party when we do!

Do you have a picture of yourself that you could share with us? Is there someone who will notify us when you move on to your next adventure? Love you buddy! I hope your meditations help you. We are here for you every step of the way. HUGS!

Woody,
Every day you live your life as an inspiration to us. If we could see things through your eyes I wonder how many would change their ways? It should not take a life changing moment for us to see what lies before us. I hope that there are people on this board that read your words and are moved to make the changes in their life before they have to face something like you have. You are amazing in all that you do. I see you spread warmth and love across the boards and you would never know the fight that you are in. I always send you positive thoughts and hope that you find peace.

" while things are as they are its important to make the best of it" THAT right there from You is right on the money! You just enjoy What You can, When You can and Know You have been a blessing to Us ALL here at ATS!

If what I have read from You on the boards over the Years is only a smidgeon of Your insights on this World, What a wonderful time it would be to spend time with You in your real World!!!

I know those Who are close to You are truly Blessed to have you in Their lives!
Take it easy. Syx

Glad to hear you're watching the football. Is it just me or has it been a particularly good tourney? (ICELAND!!!!! Ya dancer!!!)

Just joking, England played er...well(ish).

I love your ethos, enjoy every moment while you can feel it, taste it and see it. You've taught me a lot, it's true. If any of us here could change things for you, we would in a heartbeat. And there is always, always hope.

Life gets in the way of making plans as they say. The youth club was much harder than the homeless drop in. Teenagers can be a pain in the ass., but cooking with them playing pool and learning the latest dance trends is worth it all. They make you feel young again and remind you what it was like to be a teen. You also have more influence about the advice you can give. Tell them about how to get a job, pull their jeans up etc etc
