Lol, you did the exact thing that was just described, rebutting against something that was not being claimed.

Ahh, yes. The irony of self-indictment!

There is no way to legitimately answer your question, because it is based on a false premise.

You're not the only one!!

I happened across a YouTube video today made by a guy who is really into the Bible and has been for years, and he talked about the changes in his old, family Bible (received in the 60's) and across the board of Bibles.

Here is an 18 minute video for anyone who has the time and is interested.

Good video.... nearly in tears here....

Yes the bible is written in my heart, but i dont deserve to have it written on mine.... i have abandoned religion and the bible. I do love a creator though....or creators, and am glad to be here.....

I am speachless....

Yet again, condescending hyperbole on your part. What is so threatening or off-putting about someone being certain of something they remember? Many people have very specific recollections of why they remember the "stein" spelling; some even have surnames with the same "stein" ending and have recollections of specific life events involved with the Berenstein spelling.

Well, to be fair, it kind of goes without saying that if 2 people believe that they have "certain" memories about an event that conflict, that at least one of them is wrong (if not both). Both cannot be right. What do you do when people have specific recollections of the "stain" spelling?

I'm not sure if it's an ego thing, but nobody wants to admit that their memory could potentially be faulty regardless of what side you represent in this thread. It's the last thing many folks consider, I've seen many people go senile, and they very often just poopoo it away and then get very upset when they are eventually confronted about it. I'm not saying this is the case with MEers, but stop claiming it's condescending to explore the logical side of things that suggests the proven fallibility of human memory is responsible for many of the similar mistakes.

It's just a little silly to me for somebody to claim they are dead certain when it comes to memory from 20+ years ago. I honestly don't think anybody is ever dead certain in older memories, not even myself. The brain is not like a hard drive where you can save and store files for years and the files are just the same as you left them. It has nothing to do with being condescending, there is valid study and research that shows how memory recollection from long periods in the past can be different from how these events actually happened.

This isn't meant as an insult or meant to imply people have bad memories or are dumb. Chances are everyone will eventually experience these types of things at one point or another in life. That's just the way memory is. Hell, I have trouble remembering things accurately just from 5-10 years ago, I would never claim that I could be certain in a memory from 20+ years ago about something I haven't even looked at since then. How many of the Berenstein people have kept up with the books and continued to read them from back then until today and how many haven't even looked at the books until you heard about ME recently and are relying on memory from decades ago? That's a legitimate question.

I dont understand how you guys can take someones subjective memory of say the bible as proof of anything.
I dont get it.
How is that proof?
And yet all youtube videos say proof, and some people in here seem to feel the same way.
This is exactly what I warned about in my first post in this thread many pages ago.
We've allready lost some people to the rabbit hole on this one, and there probably is no coming back for these people once they get lost there.
Once a person believes something its hard to get them to come back from it.
And since there is no proof anywhere, at all, for this.. well you can hopefully see the problem here.

What is good about this video? Its a man talking about how he remembers the bible different than it is now. He is of age and is probably getting a bit senile over the years.
Where is the proof? Yet you believe it hook line and sinker like its facts.
Why?

a reply to: Trippin420

So the more logical explanation for you, rather than that you remember it wrong - is that the world changed?
Really? I want you to really think about that one.

It sticks out so much for one reason. I'm a former Army brat and I spent 1992 to 1994 in Schweinfurt, Germany. We had one tv station (AFRTS the armed forces channel). There were no commercials or music videos. We got back to America June 4, 1994. I spent the entire summer before school absorbing commercials and music videos like a sponge. I have Asperger's syndrome and I was fascinated by everything I missed.

It was much the same for me. I was in a country where everything was censored. Magazines at the commissary would have entire pages ripped out or sections of articles blacked out with permanent marker. Anything too "risque" or containing products that were banned there or any little thing, they blacked out or removed. They literally had people with black magic markers and scissors go through every single magazine or paper that was sold before they went on the shelves.

TV was also censored. We only got three or four shows and you might be in the middle of watching one, when all of a sudden, it would just turn off. If it was close enough to the end, they'd just cut it off entirely. Movies were nonexistent.

So when we'd come back to the States every Re-pat vacation, we'd watch as many movies as possible, read books, magazines, and listen to music...something else we were rarely allowed to have over there. Everything had significance. Memories were important, because that's really all we had. We never got toys or anything like that because we couldn't keep them...they'd take them from us at Customs. My parents didn't see the point.

A lot of these, I can accept as faulty memory. But some I cannot, and that is precisely why.

OK Look....

it always said berenstAin, but everyone pronounced it as berenstEin. So your memory changed it to berenstEin. Natural. Thats what the mind does.

Same with Steven Seagal. Pronounced Segal. Written Seagal. Mind changes it to Segal.

MacEntire. Kinda wierd right? MacIntyre is what the mind 'wants' it to be, as that is the more common spelling and it is also pronounced that way. Barabom-barabing.

This is how our memory works.

I cant for the life of me understand how the more logical explanation for this is some grande conspiracy regarding the world changing, or parallel universes or what have you. And i've yet to see anyone refuting this argument.
And yet you chose to believe the nonsensical and something without any shred of proof.
Its.. alarming.

Think of it this way. What if the ME "meme" was thought up to create unease and mental confusion in the people.
In certain people. People who are on the more naive side, and will believe things without proof - and using our fallible memory to do so.
Well then.. I would say they succeeded.
Theyre messing with your MIND. Theyre not changing the world.
Be cautious what you believe.
Thats all I got to say.

Because I have studied the bible my whole life. Not just one but many translations, I developed such a hatred for religion, even though I still believed in a creator that I even learned hebrew to read the origional text myself as there are too many miss translations etc...

I have studied and studied and studied the bible...

It is a tad cruel calling a sweet man you dont even know senile or aged. Character assasination points to the character of the attacker, not their victim. .....

He appears to know exactly what he is talking about and to be quite sincere and on the ball to me.

Character assasination? Dont be so dramatic.
I didnt call him senile.
I said he is of age (do you deny the fact he is of age?) and probably. PROBABLY getting a bit senile.
As that is the much more logical explanation than that the world has changed on some grande conspiracy.

Wheres the proof, I ask you again. Your memory of the bible, and his memory of the bible - is more proof than the actual bible?

edit:
How come you studied the bible all your life? Looking for answers? I can see now how and why you latch onto this so bad. You desperately want it to be true. You dont want a normal and grey and dull life. This brings excitement so you go along with it.
Close?

Also the title of that video from that "sweet man" as you say is very alarming.

ALERT in all caps. The word PROOF. Then he goes to say its NOT a joke and VERY important.

He is purposefully freaking people out, people who dont know how our memory works, and are a bit naive perhaps; perhaps people who also believe the earth is flat or has an inner-sun; i.e stuff without any proof -
and he does so as if it were facts.

Thats not very nice or "sweet" at all. In fact THAT is very malicious and his vid should be taken down.

Given that Hawkins and others warned that Cern could mess with the fabric of reality and cause black holes, is it not a possibility?

The year 2008 is related in a couple of ways. Does anyone know if Cern did anything big around that time?
I'd look into but I don't have time right now. On a quick smoke break at work.

It is not just me and ONE sweet man remebering something! Get your head out of the sand, wake up!

If it were just me, I wo uld think I had a brain problem, if we all remebered different things, I would think maybe we all had brain problems.

BUT, we remember the same things, and very specific things, in the same way, and the old ways we remember almost always make more sense than the new ways.

You will not look at that fact though, it is too much for you to look, at.

So wheres the proof? Third time Im asking you. Dare I say.... There IS no proof?

a reply to: hidingthistime

Meh.. are you for real..
The reason we remember the same things, I allready said it just a few posts up.
MY head is in the sand??!
Are you kidding me with that logic....

We are all humans, we all have a human brain, so naturally the process on how our memory works is pretty much the same in all of us.
That is why "it happens" to all or most of us. Pretty logical.
