The idea that a man is going to dress up as a woman to do things already against the law in a bathroom to your wife and daughter is conservative republican Xtian fantasy make-believe that nobody can seem to find any evidence of happening. 255 cites and 17 states have laws allowing transgender people to use the facilities consistent with their gender identity and who they are as people everyday and with no reported or documented incidents.

The predatory transgender woman in the ladies room out to do sex crimes is a complete myth and a total fabrication. Transgender people are the ones put at risk by these laws.

Furthermore, transgender women are wives, parents and daughters themselves that face discrimination, abuse, violence and assault just because they have to effing take a pee. This is wrong.

Most harmed are transgender boys and girls in schools and universities, many that have been living their entire lives in the gender other than the one assigned to them at birth that are now going to have to use the wrong bathroom.

If these were your loving daughters, would you want them in the men's room?

Transgender girls are not boys. Transgender women are not men.

I keep asking this question, and get no answer, when was the last time you were in a public restroom and witnessed someone flashing their junk, male or female? These laws make no sense, and serve no purpose other than to fire up the homo/transphobic evangelical asshat base of a portion of the Republican party.

I'm still trying to figure out why its an issue. If they have male parts men's room female ladies room. But in reality even if a guy dresses as a woman or vs versa how would you know? This law is unenforceable for anything other than a public school. So the real issue involves kids and gender identity. And realistically how many transgender kids are open about it in school. You may have two kids in the entire state.r

It is a political pandering point, and the whole homo/transphobic base eats it up. The only reason a state legislature would waste time on #e like this, they know the supreme court will strike it down.

Restrooms, I have no problem with. Locker rooms, raises issues, do I want a transgendered woman showering with my daughter, whole new set of issues, concerning at what age etc. From what I know about transgendered individuals, which is limited, they have no desire to exhibit their birth genaltalia.

I actually came back and read this, and had another thought. There is a teen suicide epidemic in the US, how many of these are for the reasons you state? How many kids kill themselves because they cannot be true to themselves?

I am a 55 YO straight male, I have no agenda. But how many of these kids kill themselves, because they are not allowed to be themselves?

That's a double-headed question. How many transgender kids in school are out, open about it and known or how many transgender kids are there in schools?

Transgender kids and people for that matter don't generally want to be known or advertise being trans. Affirming and inclusive care for these kids is to have them be be treated just like any other kid with the same educational, athletic and social opportunities as anyone else in the education system, not singled out, stigmatized or discriminated against.

It is increasingly common to have several trans kids per school, the vast majority who's status is unknown to their classmates. Most parents are extremely protective of their children's privacy so getting any headcount beyond an educated guess is impossible. From what I know about this subject, I'm going to say a ballpark number of how many kids in school we're talking starts at 2500 on the low end and is likely double that in total.

In fairness, I don't want these freaks in any bathroom I use, but at least make them use the bathroom that matches the equipment. Maybe if they took off the 'Men' and 'Women' from restrooms and put pictures to help them choose it would be easier for them.
