Yes -- jets existed in WW2, but WW2 was not 95 years ago. 95 years ago was 1921, and there were no production planes with jet engines at that time.

However, the OPs friend's story about the jets was NOT that the jets were scrambled when the ship disappeared 95 years ago, but rather the jets were scrambled when it allegedly recently reappeared in the Bermuda Triangle slowly descending from inside a vortex.
