The thing is though that there is only a war of ideologies because that is the world view adopted post fall of Iron Curtain

The war of ideologies has been going on far longer than that, my friend.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy - and it seems we have swallowed it hook, line and sinker.......

One need not "swallow" anything, when it is clearly in our faces. No need to "make it up" when the truth is standing tall.
Self fulfilling prophecy, or just a very well thought out educated guess based on what one sees? Kinda the same thing, I reckon.

You are entitled to your opinion, as much as anyone. But I don't believe in savior machines, or authoritarian strongmen. i don't believe countries are businesses, or should (or even can be) run like one.

I don't believe in "the one," or any other remnant of piscean Binary thinking. The world is full of big, nasty, F'd up problems. It is going to take all of us to fix it.

"Someone to save us! Someone to follow. Someone to shame us! Some brave Apollo. Someone to fool us. Someone like you.

We want you, Big Brother."

It's sad that it takes the worst of humanity to bring out the best of humanity-like how it took the Indian ocean Tsunami for nations to implement a Tsunami warming system.

No, I'm not misinterpreting, I'm attempting to understand your point of view. Not arguing with you, my friend. In many ways, I agree with you, a lot.

So bombing a sand dune isn't going to fix this we have to root them out

Agreed.
But like I said, bombing those "sand dunes" has consequences. Again, blowback.

Rooting them out is easier said than done when they can fade into the populace, sometimes for many many years.
My only point initially was that we need to start discussing what "rooting them out" actually entails. Bring that to the forefront...It's nasty, it's horrible, but it is what it is.

Of course, again, I'm speaking in terms of clear cut "good guys" and "bad guys" which, really, isn't applicable in the real world. So much evil, on so many fronts.

I have all but given up hope for this world. I cringe at the thoughts of the world my nephews and the youth will grow up in.

All I can do, at this point, is hunker down and protect my own in my own little "world"....that's the best I got when I see that all factions on all sides are "bad guys"....when they (whomever "they" may be) attempt to come for me and mine, I will fight them. Until then, I cannot stand with one group or another. My "island" is fragile, but it is all I have. I will not sell my soul for the sake of rooting out one evil, while perpetuating another. I just can't do it.

Of course it has. The point though is that it was adopted at policy level immediately following the fall of Communism. In point of fact, for those involved at policy level, the post 2001 world was a long time coming.

There is all sorts of literature proving this to be the case, including government files from as early as 1992 (UK and USA). As early as 1994 there were NATO briefings on creating the new enemy (i have seen copies of these files myself in an old career).

Now obviously, this doesn't change the fact that the bad guys (terrorists) need taking out. But it does clearly demonstrate that we have been led to the Muslims = bad conclusion. And that is very important. Just because someone may be a Muslim, it doesn't make them an enemy of the West (or it shouldn't).

I am unsure of the actual, true origin of this. That is not even the point anymore though. The point is it is a reality, and we are not doing what we need to to protect what we consider to be our way of life.

We need to start to do that, and I suppose when all the bombs and bullets and death has stopped, then we can look at who exactly to blame.

Clash of the Civilizations is the starting point. The point being that post Communism it was decided that a new "enemy" was needed to focus Western minds and subsequent policies have reinforced this view. Why does this concern us now? Well, quite simply, because we have now all been conditioned to think that Muslims are bad. The reality though is much simpler - bad guys are bad but most people are neither good nor bad, regardless of race, religion, etc, etc. Most people just want to get on with their lives....

I have seen multitudinous marches demanding sharia law, not only in my home city, but in others too.
Me, personally, not from some press article.

That didn't come from some book, that came from reality, and I am sure that it wasn't dreamed up by some bureaucrat in the marbled corridors of power. Whether it has been allowed to progress...that is another point.

The point still stands, in my opinion. We have to make the hard choices and stand by our decisions. indecision will be the death of us all.

PC crap? Have you even been reading wtf I am saying?
Damn you people that want to put words in the mouth of others.

You think this "strong leadership" lies in some "savior".....it's ridiculously naive to think that.
There are many deep six vested and those behind the scenes are the ones "running the show"...the sock puppets you call "leaders" are the public face of a very nasty industry.

There are no "good guys"...there are no clear cut lines in this war....these wars.
Period!

BTW, the reports of the first few pages still stand as accurate, despite all of the overly PC declarations to hold off on calling it what it was - radical Islamic terrorism.

BTW, Islam doesn't condone murder, any one regurgitating main stream memes like "Radical Islamic Terrorism" is either a dupe or a minion, ether brainwashed by what they read in the main stream or also promoting it.

Which re you, a minion or a dupe?

Terrorists like to kill. They also like to slip unnoticed into countries. As there is currently a major refugee crisis, they are obviously taking advantage. Do we blame the refugees for that? Of course not, it is down to the terrorists.

The priority at this time is the safety of the country and its citizens.

Once the country is secure and the citizens safe, then the countries can once again look towards providing a generous helping hand to those real and successfully vetted refugees.

There is a refugee crisis only because of poor management and control of the influx of massive groups of people into the countries. I know it is not a popular position but, control of borders should be a priority, and countries have to make it very unpleasant for invaders that attempt to circumvent the process.

If the governments do not take control of the situation, it will be a catastrophe, if the citizens feel their security lies within their own hands.

The total inefficiency of the governments speaks loudly of deliberate manipulation and mechanisms of control being put into play.

While they are dazzling you with the show, take time to look behind the curtain, and don't forget to keep an eye on what is going on behind you. All is not always what it seems. Their success depends on our predictability.

We need to do something, but what?

In my opinion:

-Only allow entry with passport, full registration, like everyone else who wants to visit the EU.
-Don´t give out money to asyl seekers / refugees, only foodstamps / clothes.
-Don´t # around with criminals, he who thinks he´s above the law in the country he´s seeking protection, should be send back`* on the same day he was ruled guilty.

*Because everyone needs valid papers/passport, the destination is clear and there is no fuss about where the refugee really comes from.

I´ve been to some refugee centers doing work on fire detection systems and you would not believe me how they live down a fresh built solid building in four months. Sorry to say it but my impression is, most of them live and behave like animals. Half of the women there are pregnant. Know the cause? I´ve been thrown broken toys at me for checking their safety!!

To get people of my back here, I support helping refugees. Really. But what I see/saw is sometimes unimaginable. They # and piss into corners 2 METERS AWAY FROM THE TOILET ROOM IN THEIR OWN LIVING ENVIRONMENT.

It´s so disgusting that I refuse to go back to this refugee camp! Let them burn if I can´t do my job because I am yelled at, thrown things after me and live with the risk of people stealing away things from my van, the second I walk around the corner. The idiots unscrew fire detectors and try to give them back at the local supermarket making me jump out of the bed at 2am in the morning driving 40km just because one of those animals living there thought it´s clever to remove the fire detector out of it´s housing. We don´t rush out anymore, now the management has to crawl out of the bed in the middle of the night just because some one thought it´s funny to smash a manual detector and let the fire fighters come in the middle of the night, waking up the whole town.

Not to speak of the pour souls working as fire fighters, who have to do a daytime job also.

There really was a false alarm EVERY night for 8 days last april until we deprogrammed the modem to call out to the local management instead of going right to the firefighters central.

And not to express envy, but hey, they walk around in the best clothes / leather jackets you can find, even looking down on you when you crawl out of your car, sick back because you were working your ass off for 30+ years, they look down on you calling you a kaffier and what not.

rant over, sorry!!!

You clearly see this as some "bad guys" vs "good guys" thing.
Who are "the terrorists" (besides the ones plastered all over the tv and the net daily)?
I see "terrorists" on all sides, there is no moral high ground to be had.

Everything has consequences. One cannot expect one group of terrorists to save them from another group of terrorists. It's illogical and not based in the reality of this world.

The last thing people should be doing is "hunkering down" and quoting David Bowie lyrics in order to prove to Terrorists that "WE are not the droids you're looking for!....WE're politically corrected and 'enlightened' progressive socialists; we mean you no harm."

How much 'enlightened' and 'politically correct' progressive citizen blood is currently being mopped up from airport linoleum in Brussels right now?

Yeah, we should just pick sides and nuke the sh*t outta somethin'...anything. Anything deemed "bad" by other "bad" groups. Nice plan.

Let the cleansing begin!

Nice bs with the "socialist" "liberal" blah blah blah.
Could you please stop lumping in everyone with an opinion as "socialist progressive liberals"....it's pretty annoying.

Not at all. The terrorists belong to all sides in this case - from those ISIS / Daesh lot to our own Military Industrial Complex that orchestrated this whole messy game. They blow us up in airports, we blow up 30 at a wedding party - both are terrorist acts.......it just goes on and on.

Honestly though, i blame "our" side just as much for both creating and then perpetuating the whole problem.

Not really sure why you think i believe its good guys versus bad guys - if anything i am trying to show it is far more complex than that.

Bless your heart. I shouldn't have tired to kow tow to your PC mindset. Instead of "radical Islamic terrorism", I should have just simply used "Islamic terrorism". Alas, I did try to distinguish between the peaceful norm of Islam and the hateful anomaly. My bad. There's no pleasing them or you, apparently.

I've never hunkered down a day in my life, and I'll quote whatever I feel is relevant, just as you do.

You think you can fix terrorism if you can find a strongman willing to cleanse a third of the world's population so you can feel safe? Laughable. That will only create more problems at every level.

In the meantime, I'll be hugging and kissing those I love and going about my work, just like any other day. Anything less is surrender to fear, and perpetuation of the endless nightmare.
