revalations says thet when the beast comes to get us the devil gives us a mark. if we dont take the mark we will not be able to trade etc. when jesus comes back it will be on a white horse with a sword. he will wage war on evil and triumph, leaving all who fought through the war beside him to live on earth in utter peace for 1000 years.

i am 98.6% athiest, but i will say this. i will not take the mark of the beast, and if jesus does come back i will know it is him, he will know i was a doubter, i will accept him, he will forgive me like thomas, and i will dawn my sword for jesus and fight to the bitter end (bitter for the bad guys).

that sounds like a total fairy tale to me and i dont believe it, but i am certainly open to it as nothing is impossible.

untill that day comes i will live my life with no religious dogma whatsoever, but i will live it according to what is good and just. if there is a savior and he looks into my heart he will know whos side i am on.

This seems to me like never joining a football team because you doubt they can make it, then begging for a spot in superbowl because they did. If you want to pick up a jersey, I'll throw you a few passes.

Dude, you just missed him, you didn't see him? That's okay, some buddies of his wrote it down. You can have my copy of the Book if you like.

well, thats just how it is. its not that im not joining the team (god), its that i dont know if the team even exists. if they do i have no doubt they will 'make it'

the point being that i wont play for the other team ever (satan).

of course it canbe argued that by not playing for either team that i am playing for satan. a good quote in this case is " the only thing required for evil to triumph is for good men to sit by and do nothing." i dont do that regardless of my religios beliefs, so i feel if there honestly is going to be an armagedon i will get 'drafted' by the 'good' team.

the only flaw i see in my theory is if i get whacked by the devil for not taking the mark before jesus comes back. of course if that time comes i will immediately renig my heathenous ways and pray for forgiveness. i have been schooled on how to do that so i feel confident.

oh and the extra 1.4% is of course the belife that anything is possible and that the bible was truly written by god thru mans hand. i guess that makes me agnostic not athiest...

First of all people do research and STUDY!

A goodplace to look about this topic would be freedomdomain.com, it is up and running now, so go and STUDY.

The anti chirst, will be just as sweet and lovely and say all the right things like a man who wants a women/or visa versa and then reality kicks in and it (anti) isint all what he (or she) seems to be. !-lol.

God is all loving and peaceful,

BUT mess with God and his people (that would be us then!), then things wont be all peaceful (if u know what I mean!).

As far as faith is concerned, its like this. God doesnt mind if u belive or not, dosent mind if you are athiset or muslim, chirstian or saintanst, either way God is still there like Im here, or u are over there, at the end of the day you me and evryone else (including satan) are doing Gods work-LOL.

Aint life sweet!

Any day can be a person's last day. Why wait?

Yeah, I'd agree that you're agnostic. You're a lot more open to the possibility.

ok, what happened is that christ came before jesus. jesus's life story included some of the things that happened to christ. but, christ was killed by a roman sword..the cross is used metaphorically to show a sword stuck upright into the ground. the virgin mary is simply virgo by astrological sign, jesus (as we believe him to be) did not exist because christianism has caused people to sin by worshipping an idol. there was a jesus, but much of his life was intentionally misinterpreted to finally give the vatican the power they wanted.
the holy grail is not a cup-again, it is symbolical in that it 'held the blood' of christ, but they speak of the sword that killed him. the story of king arthur- the sword that was stuck into the stone by merlin links in with the 'kings' that attended jesus's birth. they were wiccans or 'men of magick'. now, the sword pulled out by the boy shows the true king's innocence and youth. it is a clue to the second coming. the king will not be of lineage but appointed by divine powers and showing divine strength where people will witness the impossible being possible. but this is not just a story since the sword exists today. it was said to have been broken in battle and replaced by excallibur given to arthur by the lady of the lake. this is just a cover up to fill in the time period between the sword going missing and the making of a replica. the sword was stolen by the vatican to be destroyed because of the power it possessed but somehow ended up in the possession of the knight's templar who included 'pirates' and took it somewhere south where until the right time came, it would not be discovered.
the messiah- is alive, and he would possess divine powers such as creating natural disasters and weather conditions just by saying the words. only the righteous will be saved.

Disclaimer: I am actually a strong Catholic and have been for all 18 years of my life. I believe that Jesus is the Messiah but, for the purpose of this question, I am playing devil's advocate.

It was prophesized that the Messiah would come and, well, be a great person and do all of these miracles and preach and all that, but it was also foretold that there would be false Messiahs, like the Antichrist or this Maitreya guy, that would pretty much do the exact same stuff. Now, when there are several people that are saying and doing the same kind of stuff, how the hell are we supposed to know which one is the true Messiah? How do us Christians know that Jesus isn't a fake and Maitreya, for example, is actually the Messiah? It seems like humanity was placed in a bit of a gamble situation, like being presented with three identical cups and asking to choose the one with the ball under it. If we choose one of the wrong ones, we are sent to hell for eternity, but if we choose the right one, we are rewarded in eternal bliss. Hopefully Jesus could've understood when someone was skeptical about Him being the true Messiah after they were taught that there will also be fakes. My beliefs are based on faith of course and the fact that most of the world seemed pretty damn sure that Jesus was no fake and that opinion is what I am asking about.

My opinion is as follows:
Jesus Christ was THE Messiah, in the truest sense of the word. There have been many PROPHETS throughout Earth's history, I being one of them. But Christ was the Son of God, he was God's flesh and blood messenger, and he was the greatest guy EVAR! There has never been and never will be anyone like him. He is unparalleled.
I saw a post where someone made a joke and said that they know Jesus personally, that he lives a few doors down from them. Normally, I would say tsk tsk... but honestly, I HAVE met the Messiah, flesh and blood... and believe it or not, he is alive and well. He has grown up in this lifetime from an infant (of course), and I have known him since he was two. He is without a doubt the most profound human being I've ever met, the most selfless, caring, and understanding individual in history, and freaky enough, he can read minds. He's very quiet, keeps to himself most times. When he speaks, you can hear the voice of God speaking through him, his voice is like a thousand rambling waters... very deep and authoritative, but in a very humble and respectful way. He is the most beautiful man physically that I've ever laid eyes on. Contrary to popular believe, he was not born December 25, but his sign is actually the Virgo. Funny enough, his birth year is the Chinese Rabbit (el oh el). I of course can't divulge any specific information about him, it is not time yet for the prophesy to be fulfilled in these times, and to be honest, I don't know exactly what that entails. His Dad told me only once who he really is, and we have not spoken on the subject since, as he refuses to speak a single word about himself. He has a regular Joe-Shmoe name, just like the rest of us, his name isn't Jesus or Yeshua or anything like that. But funny, his initials are JC. I don't get the answers I need from them... they really do speak to me in parables. But it's my belief that this is his second coming, and that the Apocalypse is near.

First thing - this thread is like four years old. Secondly do you realize how many times you spoke of Jesus in past tense?

"was THE Messiah"

"was the Son of God"

"was God's flesh and blood messenger"

"was the greatest guy EVER"

He is all these things - that is what makes him unparalleled to any other!

As for the rest of your story - you know when it comes to the Messiah he warned everyone to be extremely careful in what you allow yourselves to believe and he gives the warning because he doesn't want anyone to fall into the trap of deception. If someone says he is in the desert - don't go. If someone else says that he is in some secret chamber - don't go. They are liars, for the coming of the Son of Man is like lightning.

You can allow your mind to splinter off into as many different directions as you want, when contemplating this "lightning" he likened it to. You can think of it as an aerial phenomena, or fast-like, or even by chance it could be the actual divine spark of God lighting up the dark to the individual believer, but he's not holed up in some house right now.

The Messiah came to live in us all - at least for those who will accept him. Your friend is no more special than you are. You need to start looking inward for the answers because that is the kind of people he's looking for.

This man may have the indwelling but it's nothing that you can't have.

Nice analogy, Saint - I agree totally with that. I highly doubt that Jesus is going to allow anyone to stroll through life denouncing him - and then at the last minute try to make amends.

That's an extremely dangerous path to choose to walk, J.

Everything that is here, and coming upon us, is laid out, in pretty much detail, in Daniel and Revelation of the Bible. The King James Bible - not any of the revamped or rewritten "versions" that mankind has written.

To hear mankind tell it, we can all do as we please our entire life, then see Jesus returning, and try to do a last minute 180 of our sins. It just doesn't work that way.
