Head's Up: Some design updates are happening shortly....

lemme just throw this out there (from an old timer here):

every time a change happens to the site, folks hate it. Why? Because humans hate change. Its just how are wired.

In a week or two you won't even cognize the images.

Nice changes.. Like

I actually prefer the more squared off look, so kudos for that change.

Not liking that fact everyone has to piss around with their avatars cause of a size change though.

And this tiling effect seems amateurish at best.

Don't mean to insult you SO, but it makes the site look more like it was someones first attempt at building a website.

That's not the kind of look I expect to see on a site as renowned as this.

Is there a way around resizing avatars?
Can it not be how it was, an option like before where your avatar keeps up with/runs alongside your while post?
I'm pretty dumb at this stuff, any help would be appreciated.

I like the current edgy style.
But it would be nice if we could have an option to disable the background, it would also save some traffic.
Not that it bugs me but it would be a nice offer and easy to implement, save money et cetera.

I have definitely decided that I do not like the changing backgrounds.

But you can't please everyone.

This doesn't look, feel or read right at all. It's not easy on the eyes. This with the new Ad-blocker policy, rotating backgrounds, it just makes everything way too busy. It's becoming not enjoyable to read anything on here anymore.

I know my opinion means jacksquat, but why would you not setup a poll or a discussion for your members before changes like these take place? Not doing so just pisses people off and they just start returning less... and less... and less.

Not cool.

I agree, I think the style is cleaner and more contemporary. All those curvy boxes looked a bit like a 13-year-old first discovering border-radius and yelling "APPLY IT TO EVERYTHING! EEEEEEVERYTHINNNNGGG!"

I like it now. It actually complements some of the personal CSS tweaks so I don't have to go back and change lots of stuff.

A "Go to last post" button would be great.

A "Go to my last post" button would be better.

Assuming we don't already have this and I just missed it...

I have always liked the changes SO has made over the last several years, as a whole. There have only been a few things I didn't like. Emoticons for one...Grrrrrrrrrr! lol.

Question though...What happens if I make an avatar or background image that's 1200p long, and only a make a short post? It would seem likely it will be cut off to match the length of the post. Similar problem if the post is too long. Still, the changes are nice so far.
