What's the big deal? If a foreign culture is becoming a large part of your culture then your culture is shrinking. Accommodating to the growing culture is just common sense.

I do find it interesting that in 2200, the German people won't be around anymore. If they are, they will be a small minority in their own homeland. So, the German culture won't be around either. The German people will be wiped from history and forgotten about like all other people/ cultures that have done the same thing.

The Japanese have adopted an 'xenophobic' stance on immigration. As a result, they will still have their own country in 2200 and their culture will still exist too. So, there will be a Japanese people and culture in the future.

I'm all for keeping cultures and not forcing changes.

Well, it is just not as easy as you might suggest.
In the daycare facility of one of my children, there are kids from 7 different religious denominations. 23 countries.

They don't have the space or the facilities to present 3 or more different menus to the kids, so everyone gets the same and that has to accomodate every possible variation.

Which leaves mostly chicken, turkey and some beef (there are only 2 hindi in the daycare, so they have to eat "something else", don't know what?).

So, what should have happened? The muslim kids should have been forced to eat something their parents would never agree to? Like your children eating dog or horse? Horse is not so bad, but I would have problems agreeing to dog-meat..

So the menu has three options - those three options could also be chicken, pork, lamb.

It's utter stupidity to suggest that the muslim kid can't eat the chicken or the lamb in my list. Heck, even the Hindu kid would be happy - no beef.

You can accommodate them, and not give in to stupid PC brigade pressure. They come to our western nations and we can change and adapt a bit, but when it is demanded we stop eating things to keep them happy is where the line gets drawn in the sand!

Its cheaper to ban non halal for everyone than to offer halal food as an extra...

That's why. It still sucks that the majority have to lose out to an intransigent minority in cases like this.

It's mostly about money though...

there is plenty of other things to eat besides dead carcases

like someone else said, UK subways etc are Halal friendly and dont sell pork.
they usually use Turkey as a substitute. I know its the principle that Germans may have to change school menus if it is a reliable source and not just a blog.

but hey, things change. Just take your own lunch to school with Pork in it

I would me far more logic to tell the minority (remind you, the muslims) to just bring their own food if they have a problem with our traditional food. And not tell the general german population to bring their own.

I think fowl are fair game all over the planet. They didn't join the right unions when it came to being classified as sacred.
Sucks to be a duck... or chicken or goose or grouse even.

To make something clear because it seems some think it´s the government.

The goverment itself is not "banning" pork, it´s more and more cantines doing this on a voluntary basis.
The opinions about this are split in germany, not so much on the public (because the greater part does eat pork) but the political side.

The worst kind of people currently in my opinion are not the muslims asking for at least one menu without pork (totally unneccessary by the way because it has been like this forever. You often can choose between two types of meat or fish.

Totally ok with that.

The worst kind of people are the helicopter hippster parents (phenotype: big black glases on small face, black dyed hair, overly political correct, mostly it´s the woman, opinion about everything, judgemental chucks wearing half vegetarians). Those are the ones pretending like they are so open minded that they assume you are a radical german muslim hater just because you are against banning pork. That´s what got my attention lately.

Because "pork" is so unhealthy, beside the fact we in germany have a very long expected life range.

PC until death, it seems.
