But then maybe people would get the message and the site could return to a site that had serious and intelligent discourse, robust debates but people are civil to one another.
Sadly drama, rudeness and hate bring far more folks through the door and make ATS far more money so enforcing the T&C will never happen.
There was a time that after a fierce debate with an opponent, you'd thank each other, apologize if you were out of line and have a chat and a joke.
But then ATS used to be a true community too as opposed to just a site with random members and people just here pushing an agenda and political trolling.

The first point, is spot on what i was referring to. But, sadly, i'll have to concur with the rest of your assessment. It is likely a shot in the dark.


edit to add: on a more conspiratorial note: since making that last post, i have been unable to give stars. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I just did a test of my own; turns out it did count my star, it just put another empty one next to it, so it appeared as though someone else starred the comment, and wouldnt allow mine. Its been a while, so i am likely mis-remebering how it works, i thought there would be no empty star after i had starred already..

not important really.

It happens to me sometimes. After you refresh the page, the star is empty again. I see that as a hint that there at least is no database entry who stares what posts. Otherwise you could write a simle function to remove the empty star when already stared. But I would not count on it..

I respect everyone's point of view,but for me personally it's very simple-just don't click on any ads if you're worried about malware. I don't mind ads on my pages,i just ignore them.

Where are all these Ads' people are talking about ? I don't use any type of program to block ads , just good old window's and Crome . Am i missing something ? I mean is it really a big deal ? by the looks of it , it must be ....

Ohh the entitlement generation we live in .. I get it now ...

I'm a programmer too. Name the company that offers this plan and the traffic/bandwidth limits, and a link, or it doesn't exist. Your over generalization without even a link does nothing to help your argument.

And I have 30 years of experience programming.

I turned off my ad blocker, and found the ad servers are quite fast here. The main reason I would use an ad blocker was the ad servers were very congested and slowed down page loading quite a bit.

If you want to get technical. It is no longer free. It blocked me from using images in my posts, thus charging me my ad blocker if I want the service. So I'd be paying with my software/ad protection. So you see.. It's not free. It's an exchange of currency, the ad being the currency. I could go in to depth(debt - haha) about this subject but I'm sure you're smart enough to figure it out.

Depends on what you call programming. In the last 15 years I met many "programmers" who in turned out to be frontpage or even HTML jockes, and on the other hand, has nothing to do with the ability to go to a hosters website and find out that:

For 90€ you can get a managed (!) dedicated server complete with plesk interface licence, unlimited traffic, 32GB ram, 6 cores, 480gb SSD drive (you can get 2TB and pay 20€ less for less hardware speed), cluster-ips, and what not.

How about you bring some figures. Same game. As far as I know, there is no developer hired to work on the site.

The reason the OP is getting grief is because of the way they addressed us, there were no polite overtones or asking other than the 'please' in the title. Felt like i was being talked down too and ordered to what? Turn off ad blocker? I never post on this site anymore, this is the first log in and post i have made in quite some time purely because i fell like i had to speak up, but looks like plenty of others feel the same way and have already done so. Stop sounding so salty OP, lighten up. We are not your children, we've all got to make a living but giving orders to those than feed you is no way to go about it.

That being said and to address another point made, the only reason i dont log in to ATS or post anymore is because i have better things to do. I love the site and used to post quite regularly but now i never venture further than the top threads once or twice a week. And even then only the few topics i am interested in. I find Youtube has taken ATSs place over the years for me, purely because i prefer being fed information via video rather than reading.

ATS needs to find out WHY and MAKE the changes necessary
