I didn't read your external quote because at no point did I ever imply or say that the police or the feds determined guilt.

What's this whining about court orders during the hold out? The courts aren't responsible for bringing lawbreakers to justice. The police are. The courts just determine guilt after the fact.

I rest my case.

You are reading into my post something that isn't there. If you think that I meant anything other than "arrested" there, then that is YOUR reading comprehension problem. Especially since the sentence you didn't bold that followed right after the one that was bolded SPECIFICALLY talked about guilt.

If Bundy was a democrat, would this all just be a psyop?

even more so

Just wanted to be sure. I thought when democrats did something it was illegal and treasonous, but when right wingers did it was a psyop. As long as it's as simple as every last little thing ever is a psyop, that seems fair.

I think you pretty much just parroted what krazy said, while disagreeing with him.

He said police bring people to justice, courts decide guilt.

You said the same thing, but also said that krazy doesn't understand the issue?

On the contrary, I have no reading comprehension problem, It is you that jumped in with a knee jerk response and posted a ridiculous claim that is untrue.

Now you can spin your comment however you like. I believe you just made a little mistake and will not own up to it.

I'm not spinning anything. You are clearly misreading it as someone else has already pointed out to you. But since you want to split hairs about this stupidity and not just admit you made a mistake because you didn't fully read the post before replying, I'm not going to bother anymore. You win all the internets tonight.

Does the US actually give these sentences consecutively or concurrently? I don't know about sentencing in the US but in the UK consecutive sentences are very rare, if they still exist.

If they are concurrent of course then only the higher sentence is served, which is why I ask.

I'm not certain, but I think it's typically consecutive. I think it should be consecutive, otherwise you can really work the odds in your favor (commit a whole bunch of crimes together with only the potential sentence essentially of the longest item on the list.) Although, you would be thinking about all the naughty things you'd done concurrently, so maybe concurrent is more fair.

As far as the overall topic at hand, I don't understand why so many people are backing these criminals. Is it just because they want to claim our (Citizen's) land for themselves, or is it because people feel people shouldn't be punished if they engage in armed standoff in an effort to avoid facing charges? I feel like either I've missed out on most of this story, or a lot of people are REALLY stupid.

They would normally be concurrent, but the OP would like to up the drama, so he added them up and put that in the headline for effect.

Thanks everyone for your enlightening me on the concurrent/consecutive issue. I was unsure and my doubts have been resolved. Also, after some answers, I went to everyone's friend Google and read a bit which is always a good thing.

I thought that 96 years seemed a little harsh but then again who am I to judge.

Twenty years of lawbreaking?

Yes deadbeat Bundy stopped paying his grazing fees that long ago.

Mr. Kornze, law breaking continues under the current administration just as it has for well over 150 years in this country. When will you be prosecuting your own DOJ, whose Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has criminally engaged in the trafficking of thousands of weapons across the Mexican border and into the hands of Mexican cartels, which resulted in the deaths of two federal agents, hundreds of Mexicans and who knows how many others?

You should change your name to misinformer. They did not traffic one weapon across the border during either operation wide receiver under Bush or during the program under Obama. They only kept track of weapons being sold from gun stores.

These phony charges are about the Bundy's exposing government corruption that go all the way to Congress.

The only thing Bundy exposed is how much of a racist ahole he really is.

At least Cliven Bundy gets a trial - after all, he too could have been ambushed (at the airport) and gunned down in cold blood by law enforcement that had him surrounded and consequently denied a proper and fair trial through a court of law.

I suppose he can count his lucky stars that he didn't reach for his side when he was arrested at the airport.

Now, the best most of us can do is to sit down, click into ATS and star and flag how we would vote.

I know right? And spew hyperbole's into cyberspace about how devious 1% of the population can be to upend the apple cart. They already know this anyway and are active in that pursuit. I just pointed it out so people know that it IS happening. To what end though? Who knows.

My days of giving a s**t about where this country is headed are over. IMO, it's lost and it ain't finding it's way back. I look out for me and my own, make life as peaceful as possible for us, hope it's a condition that catches like a good cold and let the established ways go fishing. It never did us hard working common folk any favors anyway.

What bother me the most about this issue is, some ATSer's put our government on a pedestal as if they have done no wrong towards the Bundy's, and the fact the historical record of the BLM over reach of power speaks volumes in this case.

I do not see anyone on here addressing the serious abuse and criminal crimes the BLM have committed while taking orders from greedy Harry Reed who put his right hand man as the head of BLM.

Harry Reed is a thief and a lair, the evidence is overwhelming, this corruption goes all the way to Congress.

But lets just demonized the Bundy's it is easier that way, yeah, they broke the law, yeah, let them go to prison for life for fighting for what is theirs in the first place.

I know, I know, some of you will say Bundy was a lazy cattle rancher who wanted his cattle to graze on Federal land without a permit.

Guess what? The Bundy's tried to get permits but the corrupt government refuse to give it to them, this was part of the government plane to put the Bundy's out of business like they did all the other rancher in his location.

But lets not rock the boat here and talk about how corrupt the government is and the dam fact there is no accountability when THEY break the laws.

I do not recognize my own country any longer, it has become Tyrannical to the core in many parts of our government.

I guess, I should agree with what one poster said in here:

Taupin Desciple

I have to agree with his statement, what the point in discussing anything that our corrupt government does anymore, there is absolutely nothing that We The People can do about it anyway.

I guess it's better begging on our knees, than to fight for our freedoms, this is the impression I get from this board anyway.

America has changed the channel. Until Bundy summons his flock for one last "peaceful demonstration" of entrenching themselves on the ranch and threatening to shoot anyone that tries to get them to face their punishment.
Right, zombie American's have yawned as their former country has converted to fascism. You seem about as concerned as the other zombies, blissfully unaware that the social contract is entirely non-existent.

That statement implies that we need the federal govt. in either case. Wrong. That we have to beg THEM to get stuff or fight THEM to get stuff.

I live my life everyday as if the federal government doesn't exist and I get by just fine. How? Because I know that if the federal government DID NOT exist.........I would get by just fine.

Step out of line and the feds will squash you.

Actually the DOJ and the B.A.T.F talked legal gun stores into selling guns to prohibited buyers so they could track them , hopefully to drug cartels and coyotes. But it didn't work that way and they lost track of them. Refer to the story of the capture of El chopo. He had a 50 cal sniper rifle that was sold in the fast and furious gun deals.
