Why is it Christian to protect the Vatican but it's not Christian to protect America?

You know this is great for Trump when you have Rubio and Bush defending you:

Rubio pushed back against Pope: “Vatican City controls who comes in, when they come in, and how they come in, as a city-state. The United States has a right to do that, as well.”

Jeb defended Trump and a border wall. “I think the Pope said Trump is un-Christian. That’s between him and his Creator … it is not un-Christian to protect your border, to keep people out who come here illegally.”

I just saw DT on the TV and it dawned on me how much a joke politics is. I always knew it was a sham but Americans are actually taking this guy seriously.

EDIT I just watched this edition.cnn.com... surely that's a joke presentation? Or is it aimed at children? Am I in a parallel universe? What is happening?

S+F, thought I'd have to come and do it myself

ETA: Also with money and banks being the big evil, has the Pope gotten rid of the Vatican bank yet?

Because there are a lot of differences, and anyone who can think beyond three-word-sentences can see them:
- even if only one in a thousand of the number of immigrants coming to the USA would enter the Vatican, this very, very, very little country would have to stack people on top of each other in a couple of months..
- the pope does know this.
- He also knows about the historic differences between the capitol of the catholic church and its way of dealing with visitors, and that there are no immigrants, ever. And the history of the USA, a major immigration country for centuries.

So those are just some of the differences between those countries.

And besides that, this pope (in contrast to his antecessor, pope Benedict XVI) is on a high moral ground, and he acts like it. Not even acting, it seems that this pope is living this way. Which seems to cause him to decline Trump.

What happened to the separation of Church and State. I'm sorry old man (pope), but the time of religious rule is long gone. No longer the medieval era where the papal state controlled the kings.

He doesn't rule, but he has an opinion and no problem telling as it is. Thats VIP-behaviour, right?

Only that he is not Kim Kardashain. He is the pope. The pontifex maximus. The spiritual leader of a billion people worldwide.

When the Pope goes after Ted Cruz, maybe then I'll pay attention.

Then allow him to lead his people spiritually rather than entering the realm of politics. Seems only right.
What is the purpose to your reference to Kim Kardashian? Don't even know who she is within society frankly..

The pope is actually the supreme ruler of the city/state Vatican City.

This pope is doing a fantastic job of destroying the already declining catholic church.

Anything to wake people up to the silliness, hypocrisy and obselete nature of organized religion is fine by me.

Like all the others silly petty attacks on Trump, this will only increase his popularity.

A lefty Pope is just a clown, and this one is a creepy clown at that.

The real hypocrisy isn't the Vatican's walls: it's that Euros have an apartheid system over natives in Central and South America. They discriminate against natives and they want them to leave/stop breeding/etc, so that the Europeans can maintain dominance over the political systems.

Thus, they are all in favor of sending their 'brownish' natives North to the USA, while they all have restrictive immigration policies themselves.

So of course a European Argentinian hypocrite wants mass emigration of natives from south of the border into the US. Europeans want to go on dominating Central and South America in racial/cultural apartheid. They want all the brownish natives to go North to America so they don't have to worry about ethno-democratic revolutions where the native majority takes control of their country back from the Europeans.

In Colombia, native y-chromosomes now make up a mere 10% of the nation's genome. 90% of Colombia's males now carry y-chromosomes from Spain. We know that this is conquest/hegemony/apartheid because the mitochondrial DNA i.e. the gene pool of native females is, iirc still mostly native. I'd have to check on that last part again, can't remember...but it's a safe bet that they are still very well represented and not on their way to extinction.

The walls of the Vatican were built between 847AD and 1644AD. You know back when bandits, barbarians, and armies were common. Trying to compare that to building a wall (however completely ineffective) to keep out people looking for better lives in 2016 is beyond silly.

The Pope was right, it is not a Christian thing to do, building a big wall, and ignoring the suffering of those less fortunate.

The fact that the Vatican does something, tends to mean that it could be evil. Catholicism is about as Christian as a black mass, at a crossroads, under a full moon, involving ritual human sacrifice, so yes, their wall is no better than Trump's. It is MUCH older though, and the current pope had nothing to do with its construction.

So how are things in Germany where you are not controlling your borders and now your women are being raped and harassed?

Maybe you need some walls too because you can only allow in so many people ... Germany isn't so large either.

Who says we ignore them?

Odds are we send them plenty in both governmental foreign aid and endless charity in lots of other forms.

Neither did Gorbachev, but I don't notice it stopped him from taking it down.
