I am in utter disbelief that this 'Flat-Earth' nonsense has gained some attention

Planes should have a very hard time landing, or even having enough fuel to make it to certain locations.

No one needs gravity on a flat infinite plane, observable density is all it is.

Does OBSERVABLE density explain this.

You know what "observable density" means?

Flat Earthers claim no such thing as Gravity objects have buoyancy, so lighter objects (feathers) float drop more slowly than bowling balls and gravity and air resistance has nothing to do with what we see. This video shows to them ALL objects fall at the same rate on Earth under gravity.

So...it means nothing. There is no such thing as observable density.

But it does sound sciencey. I have to admit.

" observable density " = the visible stupidity of flat earth cultists

Ever wondered if 'flat earth' was a test from aliens, allowing them to monitor humans that are worthy of evolving past 'mud slinging insults at others' ?

From your response, it is obvious that the Matrix is going to make you go through the same simulation again. Hopefully after reincarnation the aliens will see if your mind has evolved past the 'mud slinging ape' stage.

....hmmm why when we sail a ship do we not fall over the edge into the abyss when we reach the horizon?

That is an excellent question and I have a perfectly rational & sound answer for you.

You see the edge is actually a giant wall of ice, height estimates range from 200ft to 50,000 ft high. For reference Mt. Everest is 29,035 ft high, so needless to say its a big wall.

I know...I know your next question is "how has no one found this giant wall?" I gotcha covered. This giant wall of ice "may be guarded by groups conspiring to maintain the commonly accepted Round Earth Model."
(source: theflatearthsociety.org...) Very Game of Thrones.

To which you will counter "but there have been countless countries, commercial ships (tourism) and now even commercial flights into Antartica so again how has no one found a 50,000 ft wall of ice?"

uummmm....cloaking devices?

I keep forgetting that sarcasm doesn't translate to the digital media very well and that I was posting on ATS. I was attempting to show how ridiculous the basic tenants of the flat earth theory actually are.

the big problem is - your sarcasm - is actually " real excuses " used by the flat earth cultists

It's an interesting phenomenon and one has to wonder what could be the motivation behind it.
Clearly there is a lack of exploration and curiousity in this belief, not to mention the complete denial of the observable universe and scientific method.

To me this comes across as 'Don't wander of too far, there is nothing out there.'

Which is strange, because IF you'd happen to be a believer what better way would there be to prove everybody wrong and discover the edge. But the edge needs not to be discovered, because it's the desire to exist in a two dimensional plain that fuels this belief.

I think the major problem is that due to either court orders or doctors recommendations, your average flat earther aren't even allowed to leave the house let alone go on an expedition to find their magical ice wall that totally exists and it's just that nobody in human history has ever seen it because reasons.

Just for the Adventure alone, I'd do it!

Hell yeah that'd be fun, and plus you get to meet some cool penguins on the way - it'd be worth it just for that in itself!

just to be pedantic king fedinand II believe the earth was a perfect sphere

columbus was actual an idiot who latched on to a flawed translation of a foregin treastise and he [ columbus ] believed that the earth was far smaller than its true size

thats why he [ columbus ] wanted to mount his expedition - he actually believed that he could sail from spain to china with the provisions and stores held by his 3 small ships - if he had not discovered haiti - he and all his crew would have died - as they were beyond the point of no return

i suspect that the king of spain made a pragmatic descision - when he financed columbus , he [ the king ] was obsenely rich so the gold he gave columbus - and 3 small ships didnt make any imact to his wealth - but the CHANCE of a new trade route to china - would enrich spain immensly - and obviously the profits from the conquest of the americas were obsene too

Please feel free to provide any source for your claim that Brian Shul ever claimed that the Earth was flat. Is there a rule among flat earther's that you need to lie whenever possible or something?

Flat Earth could possibly be a distraction from something else. Personally I do not believe in Flat Earth, but I do believe NASA is lying (doctoring its photos and footage etc), and that the ISS and its crew are not what they seem (check out YouTube for that), so there must be some kind of explanation.
