This is kind of strange.

So Corporations and politicians talk about the importance of H1-b visas because of the lack of qualified American workers.

However, It appears that Disney had American workers who were all fired and replaced by foreign workers. The kicker is that these Unqualified American workers also trained the foreign workers before losing their jobs.

Leo Perrero was laid off a year ago from his technology job at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. — and spent his final months there training a temporary immigrant from India to do his work

But Mr. Perrero discovered that despite his high performance ratings, he and most of the other 250 tech workers Disney dismissed would not be rehired for at least a year, and probably never.

Its crazy its almost like H1-b visas is more about cheap labor than really unqualified Americans and these corporations and politicians are all about profits for big lobbyist. Surely that couldn't be?

linky

Surely this is a hot topic in both the Republican and Democrat debates.

Their full of #. A friend of mine was a programmer at Disney and got laid off and replaced by someone making half as much.

There's plenty of Americans who can get the job done they totally and completely full of it.

If they couldn't find people they would create some entry level jobs and hire students out of college.

There's no openings in skilled trades ether so don't even start that bull#.

Oh I forgot to mention... Most of them get forced to work through temp agencies. Whenever I hear people talking about getting into IT I laugh because I know a few IT guys who work through temp agencies but can't find a real job.

It's bull# and lies.

I gotta agree, there are plenty of qualified American workers.

Just not enough that are willing to do the same job for half the price so the suits can make even more money they don't need and couldn't spend if they had to.

Edit - I have always been pro capitalism anti socialism, but I am losing hope in any outcomes that favor the working man over those that already have way too much.

We are modern day serfs now that must slave away for the ruling elites in their castles.

Thats the problem and my biggest issue with this type of outsourcing.

Even if you wanted to compete you can't . You can not compete with a guy or gal that he and his family is living in another country where the cost of living is nearly nothing compared to here.

Ofcourse unless our economy tanks so much that our standard of living drops to the same level of these foreign countries. Or Middleclass Americans relocate their families overseas to live while they come back to America to work as h1-b

The corporations are full of crap. That includes Google and Microsoft and Both the Democrat and Republican Parties who take their money in order to increase the number of visas.

Cheap labor and subsidies are their goal. Nothing to do with the skill-set other than wages and benefits.

I have actually entertained the thought of buying fake ID and pretending to be an illegal, so I can get untaxed wages, and full welfare.

It would be a win win.

Except I love this country, and I have too much self respect to help tear it down faster......

Absolutely, the problem is how do we stop the people from drinking the kool-aid?

People are aware that they are all full of crap but come election time they feel if they don't vote for their party all hell will break lose. Despite both party having a 100% failure track record when it comes to the upper middleclass and below.

Heck I'm surprised even here on ATS how many people actually have hope that their party or candidate will be different.

I work part-time for a fairly large company that had a large IT department. All of the staff, on a huge number of levels, require the assistance of IT, as they have to interact with several computer devices and software products, and integration of the products does not work smoothly.

They completely shut down the IT department, fired everyone, placed some as on call workers. It was awful for the IT workers, who were awesome, by the way, and is even worse for the staff, who have to wait hours or more to get their systems back up and running.

This is what I've been saying. It's why I'm leaving. California.

They won't hire white Or black born and bread Americans because they know we have nuclear families and have to support ourselves which require higher wages.

They don't so they can work for less. I get if we bring doctors here, we need more doctors, but not engineers and computer related fields. There's plenty of Millenials who are tech savvy including myself.

You would think if that was true the economy would be struggling and wouldn't be such a hot topic . Surely foreign worker taking low paying jobs and upper middle class jobs wouldn't impact the economy.

I just worked for a company who had their entire IT department in India. It was a joke. People have told me to get a help desk job and to get into the IT field.

it's total bullsh*t. That's what everyone is full of.

Just go to Mexico and get an identity.

I used to know a cartel guy and he told me that he's had to go to Mexico and get a new identity a few times. He said it's easy, hard to do here though.

You guys think it's bad... You should see construction.

I know a skilled trade and I gotta compete with Mexicans for low wages on jobs where I'm the only one who speaks English.

What kind of total bs is that? I feel like I'm in another country.
