Can you do math without a calculator, no? Then I am your superior

Hmm, that would explain why I get some really strange looks from the ladies at work when I tell "those of lower intelligence" of my superiority 'cos I'm in Mensa.

(I'm actually not, and I have no idea what my IQ is. I suspect that, because I still like watching cartoons at 40 years old, it's probably only double digits. Mid 50's at best
)

if it somehow gives you an edge in the survival arena then maybe yes but if not then what good is it? how does it make one superior?

Its all how you quantify it. If you wanted to gage human survivability then math would come last to things like dexterity, intuition, stamina, physical or mechanical intelligence and so on....

Math is a skill or disposition like being tall is, or short.....

Anyone can learn to be a master mathamatician. Do not think that natural talent is the only key to mastery.

I see what you are saying but think its a matter os figuring out what you are actually quantifying and how /why.

I may be a natural boxer, but a trained guy who had zero talent could still out box me if he is better after training.

I once knew a nuclear physisist who could explain how atoms do wonderous stuff, buuutttt she couldn't even fry an egg .
Moral of the story "there is inteligence and there is inteligence". Just who decides what constitutes inteligence is another matter.

Hmmm, I needed not a calculator or scratch, but am not foolish enough to believe this made me superior. I was wired differently. What if I were to tell you there's a good chance you lack a high degree of emotional intelligence, and are going through life making a fool of yourself repeatedly without being aware of it.

Some people are attention-seeking and thus
Generate melodrama.

Often such a person has peaks and valleys
Of capability (is often on the autistic
Spectrum themselves) and as You say
Has poor social skills.

They would feel that they have so much
Intelligence and so much to give, but
Would tend towards being creatively
Frustrated....full of themselves but
Unable to deliver.

I must also say that 140 intelligence
Quotient is nothing particularly
Special.

ATS is chock full of similar people..

I'd advise such a person to get over
Their "supposed specialness" and
Concentrate on making some
Friends.

In a world of 7billion plus, being 1/250 means you're one of millions equally, or more so intelligent (if we assume IQ actually measures intelligence).

I've been thought of as being somewhere on the autistic spectrum by numerous people, was diagnosed the catch-all PDD-NOS two decades ago before Asperger was a thing.

You know what helped me? It wasn't trying to go out and get friends in this world... that never leads to good results... it was accepting my quirks and focusing on my goals in life.

I don't care to have a normal social life, and I don't care if people think I'm weird. I care about doing things that interest me, & keeping my head high.

Cheers

Do more than this

Go into details like I have, be concise, logical, use examples

Define making a fool

To whom

Why

Does it matter

You could be idiot savant

These people don't posses true intelligence

By mentioning EQ you were quite predictable to me. As if I am not aware of what makes up human mind.

Anyway, have fun guys if you can while you can.

Your post, quoted above, is a striking example of strange logic, lack of punctuation and poor grammar. It also may be an example of someone of average intelligence trying to stretch themselves too far.

I hear you.

But we can't assume who is and who isn't autistic
via an Internet chat board.

Non-autsitics being social animals probably should be
looking for friends.. it's wired into their brains.

On the other hand people like me (I'm on the autistic
spectrum) pretty much take your advice.. but even
so.. i do cultivate a very small handful of 'friends'.

In either case, ditching the narcissism and excessive
introspection by any means possible is a very good idea.

Aww come on.

Pretty much everyone feeds off of each other on ATS.

It's Thanksgiving dinner with the family 24x7x365 here.

But other than that, some people do "talk past the OP"
and are really talking about themselves or others on
ATS or other people in the world.

I do it all the time...

That way, whether the OP is a troll or not a troll, the same
good outcome results.

On ATS if you say something is "true" you will get dog-piled
with strange and vicious attacks, and also attract unstable
personalities.

On ATS if you say something is "false" you will get dog-piled
with strange and vicious attacks and also attract unstable
personalities.

I refuse to start new posts, and wait for year(s) sometimes
for someone to post on a topic I'm interested in.. and then
sneak in a little "good stuff" across dozens of posts.

Anyway.. don't want to be off-topic. But just wanted to
explain why at least some of us, are fond of responding
to 'way out people' and 'trolls OR just hurting souls
who could use a little kindness'.

Trolls are like homeless people.. they are a hot mess..
and possibly dangerous... but they are deserving of
kindness too.

heehee, thanks.

I enjoy ATS. I'm here to have fun, learn, shout out an opinion or two. While watching Denver try to give away the game to the Pats.

It's all good.

I have said that Ghost was one of my very favorite members..
well you are as well.. I've said it before.

You are quite correct.

In many ways, modern humans are seriously degraded from what
they once were, before modern life became "too soft", that learning
to think and to remember is no longer required for a great majority
of the populace.

Keep up the good work.
