Yeah, when you reduce this stuff to levels or aspects, it's easy to lose that overarching "love" thang, but there it is... as silly as I find anything loving us on most days and in general...

Self love is the only genuine love.

Its the part of others that we see in ourselves...or could possibly see in ourselves that we love.

The Universe evolved (at random maybe) into us in part.

We are part of it.

Thus we can love and be loved by the Universe...in a manner of speaking....no woo necessary.

"Spirituality" is in part just not hassling yourself with corrupted thought from failed religions and society.

Animals know better. Babies know better.

We CAN know better.

Well, just to be difficult...

Love is actually just a chemical reaction involving adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin working in concert in our brains.

If we were to shut down the receptors in the brain for these chemicals, none of us would ever feel "love".

You don't have to "feel" love in order for it to exist -

- you can 'know' that you love someone even when you don't "feel" it...

...and you can choose 'Love' as an act of will.

What on earth does that mean? A facsimile for some state of consciousness?

With love,

For what it's worth: to me, a facsimile of conciousness would be roughly analogous to something like 127.0.0.1

That's the best I can come up with at the moment.

What do YOU think it means?

Far more important than what I think...

(training for my guru-ship... I'm taking an online course, you see)

But, in near seriousness, in my meanderings over nonphysical consciousness, I've wondered if the bio systems are patterned , or reflections of, existing non physical properties.

C'mon man, cut it out.

Great idea.

Sure they are. They must be. At least until we are able to reliably record the "non-physical" properties of the maps that the "chems" are legend-items for.

You're my favorite guy and I wonder after you. Don't forget that.

Don't wonder after me too much!

I've been told it's unhealthy... and likely is, being liminal and all.

But the love is reciprocated ... or I squirt oxytocin whenever I see your avatar, that is.

eta: oh yeah, now that I think about it, 'bad idea jeans' was originated with an ex of mine... believe it or not... do I know you!? Heh...

Heh??!.. .seriously, as I think back, that's kinda spooky... if you had no idea of that connection with me, then? I know it's a common meme, but it wasn't in the 90's when my social circle "came up" with it and there are other terms you could've used... so i hope you get why it's sorta spooky or it was a spooky 'coincidence.'

You are just stating the obvious (that many gradeschoolers understand). That is certainly one valid way to view things.

You also describe all these wild experiences you've had, and make sweeping statements.

Pot meet kettle.
Kettle meet pot.

We are all in the same situation.

I myself prefer to discuss at least two perspectives on any issue or topic.

Best to PM me with any geographical locations in SoCal you might have inhabited in the past.

My guess is that we have no connection at all, temporally, or geographically, which is even more beautiful.

Or I'm in for a surprise.

Waddeva.

We'll be full-on Viking-Brothers-of-some-sort if we shared an "ex".

Right?

Unless you ever consorted with hipsters from Tucson in the 90's, and we did cavort around SoCal a tad, but it's likely safe to say we don't travel in the same circles... so it's just witchy and weird, then, as usual with you.. .I still remember that splinter.

Huh... the coincident factor and general situation with that particular phrase is just so darned weird and reflects some thoughts I had today about the person who came up with that meme ... so just take my word that it's quite odd and spooky.

The truth is...we don't know whether we are a man dreaming that they Are a butterfly....or a butterfly dreaming that they Are a man.

Both 'spirituality' and reductive materialism can be viewed as a crutch.

If we dissect one of our physical forms, we'd find stuff inside. An 'everything is consciousness' type of person might get depressed and give up 'spirituality'.

If we were super advanced 'spirit beings, we might dissect one of our spiritual forms; we would find stuff inside.

Since we don't know whether we are men(women) or butterflies or both...

There is no valid reason to be spiritual or to be physical or both.

It only makes sense to be liminal.

How people don't understand this boggles my mind...its been obvious to me for must be 40 years.

IMHO of course.

That is one of my favorite liminal exercises.

I totally get it. I've known this about us, and a band of others of us here at ATS, for a long time.

I don't get it, and I typically can't trust where my mind goes when I try to get it, so I just let it float. For the time being.

It's like cells of people all processing the same data.

It's what keeps me here.

God bless the Original Theorists of ATS.

Meh, one can call it a small, too poignant yet pure coincidence, or pull the 'morphic resonance' or general esp card... either way, I'm happy to let it hang as it only suggests and startles.. .as is the new norm, it seems.

I'm glad that we've cleared that up!

But on the other hand that means 2/3 of you is terrified of bird's. That must be mighty uncomfortable.

It's so much more important than that.

I am confident that if I weren't busy with more pressing matters that I could make a living researching and writing about why it is.

You are an important part of something very important. ATS is important.

Ciao.

P.S. Only the really important stuff is allowed to "hang". Everything else has other data depended from it. You can't learn from being "horribly wrong" if you haven't built a sufficiently high enough tower to fall "horribly" from when "wrong".
