This is beyond silly. The Sec Gen UN has no power. Is it purely a symbolic office used to make statements and act as the public face of the UN. The UN is extremely effective in many areas. Although it has no power it is does a good job streamlining global aid, reducing starvation, reducing the spread of disease, reducing infant mortality, and peace keeping. For an organization that has no power it has a pretty impressive track record. What the UN does not do well is respond to military threats. Granted, it has no military but often because the great powers on the Security Council do not agree the UNs role in most conflicts regulated to aid, refugees and post conflict peace keeping. Still in all that the Sec Gen has no power. Everything rides what members nations vote on. Obama already has a public platform to speak on issues he wound not need a symbolic office.

This would not surprise me at all. I have thought since the beginning ( of his political career) that he'd seek such a position. It's always been about global power for that one.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as chairman or president for nai aupuni.

However, that noted... yes. I do expect that Obama may well see himself angelically risen into the position of UN Secretary General and from there... attempt to rule the world.
