From my travels they all seem pretty much the same, I did not detect a noticeable difference between countries.

Nudity is natural. We are all naked under our clothes, it doesn't hurt anyone.

Violence does hurt people and other than people who use it as part of their job it should only really be used as a last resort to protect yourself or someone else from harm.

I think the idea that in America there are situations where you you are justified to use extreme and potentially fatal violence against another person without them first causing you potentially fatal harm is beyond ridiculous. Life seems cheap in America and because of this coupled with the constant glorification of it only breads a deeply ingrained culture of violence. But saying that i do love a good violent film or video game lol.

The premise that if a person is in my home and armed that I need to wait until they actually cause me harm to defend myself is the one that is beyond ridiculous.

Because society is dumb.

You mean dumbed down. Hi society is dumb for thinking their ploy is working.

People are ignorant, not stupid.

We have always had saucy tv and movies.
All the carry on films etc.
It has calmed down due to folk thinking it is sexist.

Nope. I meant what I said. There is no "dumbed down". Society is just dumb that's all. Many things considered popular, good ideas, or called common sense within society contradict rational thinking or statistical analysis. This goes for all societies across the globe. We are VERY hypocritical in our day to day activities and beliefs. It's just a facet of human behavior.

There are reasons for this, but it certainly isn't because the elite are keeping us in the dark. American society (and as an extension western society as a whole) is the best educated population in the history of the world. And that's JUST talking about being able to read, so don't talk to me about higher education standards dropping or anything (which isn't true either).

My mistake, i should have used "without them first threatening you with potentially fatal harm". I think in some places (correct me if im wrong) in America just breaking into someones house, workplace or car justifies you to use lethal force.

Most people don't engage in sexual acts in public toilets, and to be honest if I saw it happening I would call the police.

In today's UK, sex and nudity is not considered an affront. Citing a photo from 40 years ago just proves that you are scraping the barrel to find a reason to disagree.

It is not unusual for nudity to be displayed in mainstream magazines, or on the TV. Sex is a part of life, while violence is not.

I am not scraping the barrel at all. The central theme of George Orwell's "1984" is about controlling us, herding us by state psychological control mechanisms. If individuality of sexuality can be state controlled then you have a very docile, numb, unhappy, unstimulated flock who you can shepherd around wherever you like be it an unscrupulous war campaign, scapegoating certain groups, deciding what is right and wrong. That's great news if you are the farmer who gets all the creamy milk, but not so great if you are the cow, especially when it's abattoir (slaughterhouse) time.

That's fine if you want to respond to that particular farmer's call and only be reminded of sex when he wants you to, when he puts the bull of HIS choosing into the field for all the girlies to fight over (like media stereotypes of the kind of man a girl should breed with).

Ding Ding! Milking time! Sorry Farmer Giles I am in a different field to you. You don't own this one.

Watch the Eurythmics video I posted and/or read Orwell's "1984". I am not alone. Many great minds with legendary status have taught me what is what about the state and its tactics of control.

I am not some crazy fringe extremist. I am merely saying that presently sexuality is not very healthy in people. I see that we in the UK are drifting into that Victorian nightmare of appearance with no regard for the reality behind closed doors. I think we are deliberately encouraged socially to hide it away like something shameful.

I have gone my own way with my own ideas. I decide my sexuality. I recognise that others have different views so I do not flaunt my version, but in my own world I love sexuality as a beautiful thing. I have thought much about it and I have explored how damaging it can be, too. You know it is like a gun. Unwanted pregnancies, rape, child abuse, exploitation, on and on. Sex Crime 2016: on the one hand Islam in its extremes still kills women who have done nothing more than sleep with another guy behind their partner's backs. It is not a criminal act to do that, to have an affair. These women get the death sentence for it. Then there are the young girls in India who men have traditionally felt like they can rape her if she is by herself on public transport. There are women Escorts who are so scared their local community will find out what they do for a living. There are men abusing children, even priests and high profile politicians. There are pimps who keep their women servile and on drugs to make a buck. The media has been dissing certain body stereotypes in favour of those that a woman must starve herself for and give herself an eating disorder).

How much more do I need to say? SEX CRIME 1984, SEX CRIME 2016. Annie and Dave see it. George Orwell saw it. I can see it. The OP is seeing it. Joseph Conrad (writer of "Heart of Darkness), Francis Ford Coppola and Marlon Brando saw it enough to make a film about it. It is real.

Now in the light of the fact that we have all these sexual problems in our societies might common sense tell us that it might be a good idea to explore sexuality, not just like starved savages as the hippies did with no consideration for the consequences, but to arm ourselves with foresight and knowledge, to fathom the depths of attitude and behaviour. That is what good artists, writers and musicians do. I listen to those guys. I don't listen to what a politician says about sexuality, or particularly the control through state, or what priests tell me I should do, or what you tell me I should do. I listen to the beat of my own heart. I listen to the partner I am with as we try to relate. The state is NOT allowed into my bedroom. Look at the Eurythmics video and see the soldiers in the bedroom where Winston and Julia are nakedly hugging. Watch the film from which it has been taken. Listen to the great mind of George Orwell; I did. John and Yoko did, too. John told me all about it before he got shot in the back like Jesse James.

It's that very notion that guns are fantasy that cause issues. Guns are serious and never fantastical.

I think religion plays a large role in sexual expression, or lack thereof, in movies. It is taboo. But back in the day, in my lifetime, women were depicted on tv in flannel pjs and always had to keep 2 feet on the floor when bedroom play was at hand.

We have come a loooong way!

It's just a facet of human behavior.

More like a condition than a facet, brought on by conditioning, the result of intentional dumbing down.

Tractor pulls anyone, World Wrestling, the newest "war" movie?

If you want to see it that way, that's a shame. I'm actually speaking matter of factually here and I am also not discluding myself from this analysis.

Got any scientific proof of this "dumbing down"?

People have always been entertained by mindless time wasters. That is nothing new. Life is boring at times and we all like to turn our brains off from time to time. Are you going to sit there and honestly say you don't indulge in mindless fun from time to time? Or is your mindless fun somehow MORE credible and fulfilling than those other examples of mindless fun that you are lamenting about?

Yes, and that is why attitudes to sex are so INFANTILE and unhealthy; people been listening to the child abuser priests and Sid James too much and not beautiful Annie Lennox, John and Yoko and how it shows! It is very unhealthy. I would not want to be with a partner who had an attitude like that; all smutty, stupid, childish humour. The human beings are being held in a state of sexual immaturity with this psychological voodoo tactic crawling around in their brains quite lietrally. Happy miseducation and failing to understand what I am trying to tell you.

If you are happy with your lot being told by Kenneth Williams and Frankie Howard what is the appropriate attitude to have toward sexuality then I pity that. It is void of imagination, originality, infantile and quite possibly allowing a sex abuser to tell you how to view sexuality. Remember, those lot were all tied in together with the BBC. I don't trust any of them. To me they look like pathetic stooges with absolutely no value other than proletariat doping; keeping the stagnant zombies asleep to the wonders of true experience. I have a right to be angry, too, because I have to live my life with this crap in my face. I have to live watching the night mare that most people are stuck in those stagnant opiated places, void of imagination. I am bound to want to try and nudge people into entertaining the notion that there is more to life than THIS: (the whole of present day reality comes after that colon as an example).

That is it from me. I can only write so much to express my case. I did try. I did this for you guys not fort me. I went this far because I think we could have a much better world than this and get much more out of it than this sorry "1984" mess.

Oh thank Christ.

It's not just me in this sinking tub, this riddled hull, floating atop a sea of effluent and praying that I die before I drown in it. Frankie made me laugh because of what he mocked, but things these days have become ridiculous. People literally lay down and copulate in the streets, and claim their drunkenness as excuse, bare their gonads at all and sundry and think themselves witty for the doing of it, thinking nothing of their honour their whole lives.

There are only so many times a gentleman can walk past a couple having intercourse against a railing on a public street on a Sunday morning before the light of dawn, without loosing his mind. Tis disgusting, not because the sight is ugly, but because the wanton disregard for good form and decorum, some small slice of respectability, the total abandonment of decency is ugly.

I find so much deplorable in this day and age, that it is easier and frankly less worrisome to see a zombie or a gunfight in a movie, than to see immortalised in film, the depravity and corruption of chastity and chivalry. Such things as I have seen on the streets of just my small town, are enough to make a fellow quite give up on society as a whole.

Television, Professional Sports, Organized Religion, Nationalism, Flags, endless war, pollution… etc.

People have always been entertained by mindless time wasters.

No they haven't. People have been conditioned to be 'wasting time'.
If I can distract your mind I can fill it with my own notions.

Hypnosis demonstrates this, advertising and propaganda utilize hypnosis to sneak their train of desire and aspiration by your "filters".

The thread title shows how this is working. On the one hand we are incensed and on the other we are indulged.

That isn't proof of anything except that humans like mindless time wasters. At least two of those things (professional sports and organized religion) has existed since antiquity.

Yes. They have. Hell the original mindless time waster was dancing to a drum beat around a camp fire, and that dates all the way back to the caveman times. You appear to have problems putting things in perspective.

Not sure what this has to do with what I'm talking about.

Great question.

I prefer to watch more porn than murder these days. Porn helped fund the internet more than snuff films so maybe your premise is a little biased. When the human population was smaller maybe sex was more valuable. Now with 7 billion of us, I do not know...

I do acknowledge your point as what is provided on free to air television. As cyber space is building, make your own decisions as to what to watch.

Because of your conditioning.

The only way to gain a different perspective on it all is to see it from the outside. To literally unplug for a while, go off grid.

Until you do, you won't get it.

It's all fine to me. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Beats having to see it all in real life (other than zombies) and live with it every day, like some people in some countries have to.
