How is it that talking about sex is "dirty", yet talking about zombies, death, blood and war is just fun entertainment? How can showing a naked, natural, human body be too much while murder and fighting is ok to be shown on TV?

How did society come to believe that pleasure is more "dirty" than murder, blood, death, and war???

America, simply put.

Some European countries are not nearly as bad when it comes to this topic.

The UK is just as bad. I see this hypocrisy just as clearly.

Check my signature.

Everything is about appearances and not reality with these so called governing agencies. I would like to have them all lined up against the wall for crimes against humanity. I would not have them shot. It would be great to see all their VICTIMS throw custard pies at them continually and then we should make them live for a while as they expected others to live in the states they misgoverned, in dire poverty, where they used the poor as political coinage and dropped bombs on them every now and again.

Yes, that is true. Which is why zombies seem to remain clothed.

I think this is down to reality. To most of us sex is par for the course, therefore a reality for adults. Violence, zombies and guns are mostly a fantasy and therefore can be treated as unreal.

However, outside of the TV, violence is treated as highly antisocial and a matter for the police. Sex is not.

I reckon it would turn into Roman Saturnalia.

If we have all the others we may as well throw in the spiciest ingredient, too. More SEX and NUDITY I say. All the crap TV would instantly be much more interesting if they shed a few garments. Could you imagine RT News nude? Wow, those beautiful Russian presenters. I think I would just sit there like a very happy zombie and be fully entertained.

Lol, EastEnders in the nude might be a bit weird though:

I think EastEnders might have to move over to the Horror Channel, OP, if we take your ideas on board.

We have to keep our dignity and draw the line at some point.

Sorry to disappoint you, but...

en.wikipedia.org...

for example, in the United Kingdom as a result of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Section 71 of the act makes it an offence to engage in sexual activity in a public lavatory. In the United Kingdom, public sex comes under laws related to voyeurism, exhibitionism or public displays of sexual behaviour, but public sex laws are ambiguous. Prosecution is possible for a number of offences such as section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986, exposure under section 66 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, or under the common law offence of outraging public decency. The policy of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) is that arrests are a last resort and a more gradual approach should be taken in such circumstances.[

Hah! John Lennon and Yoko being rebels!

(Please check out the original of that picture. It is the album cover for their album "Two Virgins". It was banned as obscene for the cover. I wanted to put the original on ATS. I had to fight hard to resist and put this censored version here, but I would like to suggest that anyone reading this check out the original, if nothing else just to express your right to freedom of expression.)

I say such practise is only skin deep as it stands. What is undignified about a human body? We all have the same biology. Your post suggest a hypocritical attitude to dignity. You think it is ok for your government to do all the stuff it does to people, but the human body offends you; what else am I to think?

The stuff that offends my idea of human dignity is leaving people in squalor, not giving people with mental health issues the support they need that results in unnecessary suicide, taking away people's welfare and torturing them financially to a point where they cannot cope and take their own lives. Now that offends me. That makes me so angry I want to go to war with these people. David Cameron's regime in the UK has done all this. That offends me more than any guy's penis ever will. Where I see beauty, art and form you are seeing offence. I am glad I have my values and not those expressed by your post that could just as easily have been written by an ultra conservative, fundamentalist, patriarchal religious zealot.

I guess it is ok for you to watch porn then afterwards call them whores and say how dirty they are. Hypocrisy at work!

On others dignity.

Like the whole burkha thing.

We wage clothing and war abroad and 'decency' at home. Keeping up appearances. People with any intelligence go huh, wth, then turn off the tv and go about their business.

"The world is upside down we tell ourselves, we hope 'they' fix it.

Most people don't engage in sexual acts in public toilets, and to be honest if I saw it happening I would call the police.

In today's UK, sex and nudity is not considered an affront. Citing a photo from 40 years ago just proves that you are scraping the barrel to find a reason to disagree.

It is not unusual for nudity to be displayed in mainstream magazines, or on the TV. Sex is a part of life, while violence is not.

Well, I actually agree with your view point... Hence why I used sarcasm.

What I was trying to suggest was that those who "Decide" what is inappropriate use a similar basis to what I said. It's a sad situation.

We, as a species as a whole, have robbed ourselves of general dignity. We have messed up values and do not appreciate what we should appreciate, such as the health and wellbeing of others on this planet. Of course, I am not saying you have lost your individual dignity. But if another being from somewhere else took a glimpse at our planet, I HATE to say that what they would probably find would not show us in a great light. There is good in the world, lots of it, however we love to only talk about the negatives. However, that is for a different discussion.

Nudeness does not offend me in the slightest. And yes, I think the desensitisation of humans has completely warped what we should find appropriate and not. I respect the human body more than I respect seeing someone executed, or killing zombies.

From traveling to Europe regularly my opinion is that gratuitous sex and nudity are indeed a cause for many Americans becoming uptight while in Europe it is gratuitous violence.

Ohhh, just for good measure: It was OK for them to use my nakedness against me when I was poorly as a tool of shame, punishment and violence? Yet when expressed as something natural, sexual or artistic it is somehow offensive and worthy of punishment? That is very messed up and contradictory messages you giving me planet earth. I think this society is full on SCHIZO and desperately requires treatment.

That was the turning point for me you BASTARD AUTHORITIES!

But how brave it has made me now.

It is kind of Shamanic practise really once one understands it that through torture and brutal experiences we can gain insight and strength. Not for the psychologically weak though and not at all pleasant. Though thanks for my magic powers, you who did all that to me.

I say to anyone who has been abused use it to your advantage. Turn it into a Shamanic journey and you will come out the other side with strengths others do not have. It has to be under your own control though. You cannot learn it from another. It is very personal and you have to be your own guide and teacher.

Thanks. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Yes, that explains everything. I am feeling a little spikey about the hypocrisy of our authorities and their lack of care and consideration today. The cuts are biting so hard in the UK. We have an ignorant PM who is not listening to all those who are telling him that his government's policies are causing people to kill themselves. If I could give him any advice it would be that he is being too hard on people and that it will come back to bite him on the ankle as a very venomous snake indeed. That is one reason why I don't abuse others because I know it will be the very thing that haunts me later and will give me a very uncomfortable ride and learning experience, or worse.

In short, yes. What happens between lovers should happen nearly entirely in private, and should not be delved into graphically for artistic purposes. There is too little mystery in affairs of the heart these days, a demystification which has resulted in obsession with sex, instead of a healthy interest in love, on the part of the public. The less of that nonsense, the better. Nothing is chaste or sacred anymore.

In a word : Control.

You can't control happy people. You can only control frightened people. So all the negative stuff keeps people fearful then you can step in with your religion and ideology and control folks. However, if everyone is getting on with their lives, well fed, clothed, high standard of living , healthy sex life how can you control them how canybody come along and say "this is what you should do", a swift two finger salute is what they'd get!

Have a look around at everything in every country the fearful are controlled, the happy are not, the controllers instil fear (or try to) and slate happy people doing happy things.
