So that statement you made right there should be regulated, correct?

Oh, wait, you agreed with Mr. Trump, so never mind, that speech will be fine. Until it isn't, of course, which would be sooner then you might wish.

Either all speech is free, or none is. Regulate/Forbid some speech, only a matter of time until all speech is.

I find it astonishing that the Conservatives always laud the Constitution but Trump exposes their lies.

They only want freedom for themselves, not the Nation.

HAHA, I thought I was the only one that had to take a double look at that and then laugh.

It is interesting how Donald Trump is never too specific with his policies, almost like he is making it up as he goes along. He has some terrible ideas, hopefully they don't get implemented.

I think this is the end of Trump. He doesn't want to abide by the constitution. He doesn't want Freedom; he wants control.

The Democrats should use this as a campaign talking point. Good bye...Donald!

I wonder how the Trump devotees will try and spin this.

Come on now, you know full well how they'll spin it. They want their restrictive laws to affect everyone except themselves. So they'll just point towards the Muslim, BLM, progressive, foreign, lgbt, and other "non-desirable" topics as proof of why this is "good" idea to them.

That's how they've always been. They want a 2-tiered system where people like them have freedom & liberty, while all "non-desirables" are restricted, banned, or outright don't exist. The same type of people claiming they want "government to stay out of their lives" are in another ATS thread giddy because 2 high schoolers spent 2 days in jail for wearing saggy pants. Where's the "freedom" & "government staying out of our lives" crap there? They've never wanted equal treatment, rights, benefits, responsibilities, and privileges for all Americans.

Wow! Now he FINALLY attacked one of the more sacred Amendments in a way that was less xenophobic. Hopefully THIS is the idiocy that causes people to stop supporting him. I'm guessing not. I'm sure someone will be along to rationalize his words or angrily call us idiots for not hanging on his every word.

Sorry, but if they're still following him by now, I don't think this will change anything. Some people right here on ATS have even said they just like the fact that he speaks his mind, regardless of who it offends. I think I just read a post by you where you even asked if they'd vote for the Devil if he said he'd steal their souls, since at least he was being honest. (I think it was your post.)

To me that is his only redeeming quality.. It is really what had me on the fence, that and I was a fan of him before he decided to run for POTUS.

All the while, they just know that some imaginary boogieman is coming for their guns.

Seems that there is a major disconnect when they champion someone openly saying he wants to ignore the constitution and show nothing but disdain for our POTUS because they believe (seven years in) that he is coming for their guns.

Why bother? Just one more liberty to lose in favor for more delusional safety. Praise your new Leader or find your petty ass on the Red List foreverever!

Marking Muslims wasn't such a bad idea after all? Why on hell would Trump-supporters risk to confuse themselves with the Internetz, some very specific forms of ignorance work fine without.

This was where you finally drew the line? Hate to say it, but I am surprised he did not declare he would build a wall around the internet some time ago and make a random Middle Eastern country pay for it.

He says no such thing in those quotes posted.

He merely said it should be "talked about" .

The Internet is already censored by individuals, even here at ATS. I am still not certain about when it is ok to discuss a particular plant that is completely legal in some states and countries.

He said "we're losing a lot of people on the internet".

That is when you end up in the 'weird' part of youtube due to random browsing. Maybe there should be some warnings when you are headed there.

All he'd have to say is "I''ll build a massive firewall for the internet to keep Putin & the Muslim propaganda out!" and they'd accept it.

Keep making unhinged accusations against trump.

It does nothing but bring him more free publicity and support from the silent majority.

He would be thinking of a huge wall made of fire...or would that be Ben Carson?

Good! I'm with him! Delete Facebook from existence and make the internet for reference only. Some social networking should be in place as long as it's not social "media". Reference and networking - that's all we need.
But otherwise, the internet has been a downer for about a decade. Nothing very good coming from it all much anymore.

Says the guy who is posting on an internet forum that is only here because of an open and free internet (something Trump wants to take away)...

You might want to look in the mirror before you make any more dumb statements like this.

Serious question, aside from the obvious rhetoric, is there much philosophical difference between what Trump said and what Obama said Sunday night?
www.nbcnews.com...

And that's why I will urge high-tech and law enforcement leaders to make it harder for terrorists to use technology to escape from justice.

What "technology" would Obama have been talking about if not the internet? Hell, earlier in his speech he even called it by name:

And as groups like ISIL grew stronger amidst the chaos of war in Iraq and then Syria, and as the Internet erases the distance between countries, we see growing efforts by terrorists to poison the minds of people like the Boston Marathon bombers and the San Bernardino killers.

These politicians have used terrorism and random acts of asshattery to justify assaults on the second amendment, what is so special about the first amendment for us to assume they wouldn't ensure the crisis goes to waste by not also assaulting it?

It is odd you use that word. The other day Jeb bush tweeted that Trump was 'unhinged', I think in regard to the keeping all Muslims from coming into the US. It was the only time I have ever had a positive feeling in regard to Jeb bush.
