Yeah screw intensive training in weaponry and high octane situations...
Just give everyone a gun.

What's the worst that could happen?

I would agree that the Islamic belief system is extremely dangerous, but evangelical christianity isn't that far behind in it's threat to modern society - Any belief system with apocalyptic views that promotes "end times" (ie- every Abrahamic religion) is dangerous. I say all those looking forward to some kind of endtimes battle should be sent to Antarctica, where they can all fight each other in one big battle royal while the rest of us can continue on in relative peace. Win Win if you ask me.

Nothing like a good old fashion witch hunt.

"You look like a Muslim, you're a terrorist".

They better be careful. It is starting to get difficult distinguishing between the two.

Apparently* the one on the right blew herself up...

So there is a slight difference in the two.

*Can't remember where I heard that and cannot verify it.
I'm sure I did at the time.

One goes target shooting with dad after soccer practice.

The other straps a bomb to herself and "goes shopping".

Understand the difference? The attempt to equate fundie Christians with fanatical Islamists is absurd, and getting a little tiresome.

Intellectually laughable, even.

Well, they didn't say ALL Muslims. Just the ones that would attack them. So shoot them if they attack.

Seems reasonable to me.

I'm referring to the culture behind the two. The concept of intermingling a supposed religion of peace with instruments of violence is befitting to the Abrahamic faiths. So yes, the two equate in that way.

Is Christianity in the United States as dangerous as Islam in Iraq? No.
Is Christianity in Ethiopia as dangerous as Islam in Jordan? Yes. Much more so.

For a person to think that Christianity is any less dangerous takes a perspective of the Christian looking out from a democratic nation into a despotic Muslim nation.

Well gaaaaaaawdamn.

Guns and bibles... Jesus.

Matthew 26:52

"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

These are Evangelical "Christians" they could care less what Jesus said. All they want is the Apocalypse.

The difference?

For anyone keeping score

People killed by radical Muslims on 9/11: 2,996

Muslim-Americans killed "in revenge": 1

3,110 killed by Muslims in America in 82 terror attacks (and Islam-related honor killings)

Since 9/11 there have been 89 killed by Muslims in America in 47 attack

That is not an Ethiopian flag displayed in your picture.

Do you see the flaw (or willful misrepresentation) in your analysis yet?

The difference is in the culture. Christianity went through a long evolution, which included plenty of ridiculous violence committed in "God's" name - Why were the first people to translate the bible from latin into common tongues burned at the stake? What was the protestant reformation all really about? Why do most religions seem to target the poor, and uneducated? In the Arabic world, the priestly caste (Imams) hold control over the population - In the Western world, we have removed the priestly caste from any type of real power.

As Robert Graves once said, "The true fiend rules in God's Name".

Your comparing apples to oranges!

In America I haven't seen 3000 people die in one event in the name of Jesus! In case you forgot that was MUSLIMS!

Yep. Typical reaction for a member or apologist of the "religion of peace".

If only we had a sharia theocracy you could have the infidel prankster beheaded!

I'm a gun-toting, bacon-loving Christian for your information.

How about I feed you some ground up rat and call it a Manwich?

*Sorry to derail your thread OP, I should've just used the alert button.

I am not the one comparing "apples and oranges".

You think that oranges are rotten while your apples are fine. This is because you only look at the apples in the fresh produce section and only look at oranges in the garbage bins.

Compare Jordan and the Congo instead of the US and Iraq. You will see why your perception is the way it is.

Works for me!! Carrying with the intent to defend against attack is the whole point of the 2'nd. Allowing people to do so everywhere means these spree shooters and terrorists (I will not use the "mass shooter" term, since it includes gang stuff and isn't related) can be taken out by their intended victims. Some might still be shot, but far less. Walking around unarmed, people don't stand a chance.

There are reasons these things don't happen in areas where a lot of people carry. Where I am, nothing like that thus far, and no "flash mob" nonsense or rioting, either. I much prefer this sort of environment!
