Is it just me or do the trump supporters sound like Obama supporters back in 2009?

All this hype and talk of change?

I've said the same thing many times on ATS, but the Trump supporters always ignore me when I do.

All of you Herr Trump supporters, have you actually tried looking at his policy suggestions and them comparing them to WW2 Era Germany?
'Cause they're pretty similar.

See, this isn't a case of me comparing him to the Fuhrer because I disagree with him, or dislike him. I think Ben Carson is totally f***ing crazy, but wouldn't say he's the harbinger of the Fourth Reich. But Trump... Trump is actually just like Hitler. Policy-wise, not personality.

I think he's on record saying that Mein Kampf is one of his favorite books (though you'd have to double-check that, I'm not sure). The inspiration definitely seems to be there.

Seriously Hiltler ?

Trump hasn't enacted a single law or policy.

So, you are guessing what he would do. Trump burning any books lately ?

Comparing Trump to Hitler is like the people calling Obama the anti-Christ.

Hyperbole based on poppycock...

It's our fault. We in the media have spent decades turning the news into a consumer business that's basically indistinguishable from selling cheeseburgers or video games. You want bigger margins, you just cram the product full of more fat and sugar and violence and wait for your obese, over-stimulated customer to come waddling forth.

The old Edward R. Murrow, eat-your-broccoli version of the news was banished long ago. Once such whiny purists were driven from editorial posts and the ad people over the last four or five decades got invited in, things changed. Then it was nothing but murders, bombs, and panda births, delivered to thickening couch potatoes in ever briefer blasts of forty, thirty, twenty seconds.
America Is Too Dumb for TV News

Trump and others are proving it: we can't handle the truth

I know, kinda funny in a sad way.

You better go and put some yellow marks on all Muslims in the States now. I would propose a crescent rather than the old star of David we Krauts used under our regime of 'change'. Just criminalize 'em all, I guess your next aryan president would be proud to be a Germ... ähm... Murican.

P_Resident T_Rump. Makes me giggle a lot, I like that!

His rhetoric is alarmingly similar. He may not have acted on any of it, but when you continue to gain support based on that rhetoric there should be concerns.

His supporters dont want to look at it.

They seem in favor of Trumps approach of FORCING his policy or belief system, rather than the traditional conservative view of actually using the gov likes its suppose to be.

The people who support Trump, have no leg to stand on when talking about Obama and his "Pen and Phone" ideology.

Trump is use to getting his way, and if he cant, he forces it with money and buys his way.

We do not need someone like this running the office of the President of the United states.

The man is a monarch wanting (notice i didnt say waiting) to happen.

"Force" companies to do this, "Force" Countries to do that , "Force" the system to do this or that.

Thats not the way government is suppose to work, whether we like it or not the democratic process in a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC needs to be able to operate as such.

CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC Mr.Trump, not a dictatorship

Men fought and died to get out from under the thumb of one king, we do not need to repeat the process

What my biggest concern is, that I will see his hair all the time if he gets in. I can't hack it, it proper weirds me out. My brain can't compute it...

Does not compute, does not compute, does not compute. 😐

I intentionally stay out of British Politics because I know nothing about it.

Is it possible you don't know anything about US politics ?

Cause, you don't get to pick our leader, we do.

Sounds like Trump scares you and the rest of the World...Good, he should.

Apparently Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches bedside and read them:

Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitler’s speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.

Vanity Fair interview

Not really surprised myself.

I seem to know a lot more about US politics than you do. IE i know trump is a bad idea with ideas not feasible in a constitutional republic!

I will let you know I did advanced American history in college. So I most likely know more than the average American on its history and politics! I know your constitution off by heart and know how your pillers of government are meant to work.

As for my right to comment?

1) free speech
2)ATS is a international forum

And as for scare me? Why? He going to bomb the UK? You want him to trash your trusted allies?
Actually no i am worried, for my American freinds who may have to live under this buffoon!

O and the fact he will wreck the USA and we will likely get flooded in US refugees. ....

im a strict constitutional conservative

The replies I always get from Trump supporters is "Youre just scare of him, you want Bernie or Hillary"

Even though my post history is CLEARLY conservative

Logic has gone out the window with this lot, I harbor no ill will to them, but they are doing what they accused the Obama voters of doing twice , and running on emotion and feelings, rather than logic and substance.

Anyone who doesnt agree automatically only wants Hillary or Bernie, like magically there are no other options , dare I say its the same method as "you just dont like him because hes black"

Personally I favour Rand Paul myself.

But hey its trump or the hilderbest no 3rd option in there minds

Yes, he scares us, but not in the "Oh my god we're so intimidated" way that you're hoping for.

Look, I wasn't saying that Trump was 100% Hitler-ish, but there are more similarities than I'd think most people would be comfortable with.

Trump hasn't enacted a single law or policy.

I'm not "Guessing what he would do", I'm talking about what he's saying he would do.

What, so it's alright as long as he doesn't do it?

Oops, he said he'd kill all Muslims. Ah well, he hasn't actually done it.
Whoops, he said he'd put all poor people in labor camps. Eh, he hasn't actually done it. Better elect the guy, maybe he won't?

I'll clarify that those are made up examples. What he's actually saying he'll do is more along the wall-building, forcing-members-of-a-certain-faith-to-carry-identification lines.
At least he isn't branding them with the Star of David, I guess?

You'd enjoy an entire region of the world turned into a nuclear holocaust, with rampant cases of cancer, destruction, death, etc? Have you actually looked at pictures of Nagasaki or Hiroshima after we dropped those bombs on them? And you want to do that to a WHOLE region? Wow... You scare me more than the terrorists do.

What scares me is there's a huge segment of the population that believe this. They want a genocide of all Muslims, and it's not just a small community of conspiracy nuts who believe this. Look at every speech Obama has given on the subject, every single time he has tried to stress that this isn't a war on Islam or Muslims and that the vast majority of them are not bad. No one is listening to that though.

In Germany only 7% of the population were willingly Nazi's. Trumps support is about 30% of the 40% that identify as Republicans. That means 12% of the US supports this rhetoric. We have nearly twice as many people per capita in the US right now who support genocide against an entire religion than Germany had.

Here we have a guy who wants to be a leader spouting the same ideology as Hitler and in some cases the same speeches, and his support base is twice as high. That should scare you.

Unlike Germany, though... Well, I'm only going to say this once:

If America starts turning into Nazi Germany 2.0 with Herr Trump at the helm, you guys BETTER F***ING PROVE THAT SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT WAS WORTH IT. ("It" being all the deaths it has indirectly caused.)
