He lived out in Hartsel, Colorado. It's off Rt. 9, which you can take to go to Breckenridge and a few other ski towns.

We've been through there and if you blink, you miss it. Beautiful part of the state though.

It's clearly a mistake because he's a man. Is he transgender? Doesn't look like it. Beard kinda gives that away. Did he identify himself as a woman to the police? Nope.

Is it a mistake he didn't declare a party? Probably, but then maybe Colorado doesn't make you choose a party like some other states in order to vote, ie NY.

He lives 70 miles outside of Colorado Springs? It's an 1 hr 20 minute drive according to google. Enough time for him to think and plan about his target in his drive to Colorado Springs.

I do wonder just how Dear, the shack living, no visible means of support, seemingly paranoid schizophrenic, animal abusing, wife abusing, traffic scofflaw could afford the move to Colorado, his trailer or rental and an AK-47 along with ammo which a crappy one runs $350ish and better ones run $800ish with an additional $250 or so for ammo and mags.

It can be amazing for folks that have never had to do it that without all the modern comforts and "needs" the ability to scrimp and save enough for this is entirely possible, on your own. Even getting from N.Carolina to Colorado, via hitchhiking and walking is not insurmountable or expensive. Do odd jobs along the way, barter services for food, etc...

South Carolina arrest records show that Dear has been arrested on offenses ranging from peeping tom incidents to domestic violence and animal cruelty.

His ex wife says she's only seen him once or twice since divorcing him 15 years ago.

Dear will make his first court appearance via CCTV Monday morning.

someone on another site asked how aware he was, seeing as how he had no electricity or running water...did he even know who the president was.....well, he did, a neighbor said he handed out anti'obama phamplets...not that it means anything, just he wasn't totally out of the loop

Ya Ya, been there done that........in a way.

Doing odd jobs means someone somewhere has interacted with Dear and if so we'll hopefully soon hear something. I made $$ painting, hanging drywall and doing carpentry for a time on the underground economy. Most if not all that money went for living expenses and I can say little to none was leftover for firearms and ammunition.

Renting a trailer or apartment is expensive due first and last requirements, especially those dealing in cash who know better than most to make any other deal.

Much about this individual makes no sense whatsoever.

NBC New York is citing a witness from inside the clinic that says he was talking to himself the entire time he was shooting so who knows. Definitely very, very odd.

From a current neighbor...

Post was building his tiny cabin in the summer with a friend when his friend's two Australian shepherds wandered over to Dear's trailer.

Dear had the dogs corralled in a small wire fence. They had just barely exchanged greetings when Dear pulled out anti-Obama pamphlets and started railing against the president.

"I thought it was weird that we had just met him for five minutes and he starts with that. When he did that I just started walking away," Post said. "I don't like people telling me what to do. That's why I live out here." [Source]
