Comparing the rover's and orbital images, it's becoming clear to me that in the rover's image we are looking at an oval structure from an angle that shows both the long and the short sides:

So it's not even a round dome that everyone seems to keen on imagining. It's more like a roughly oval and smooth boulder, or protrusion.

no reason to think anything other than a satellite dish.

says a lot about the use of such dishes which hear very little. similar to listening to a phone call while blowdrying hair. silly really.

contours of the ear should have been a hint.

Except that it's pointing down into the dirt, and satellites are up in the sky.

You do realize they run tours to the island don't you?? You can pay to tout the 39 million-year-old Haughton impact crater on so-called "Mars walks".

I guess I should have put a sarcasm tag on my post.

In the full image there is also another symmetrical oblong dome like thing to the right of the main one, and it looks shiny like it has metal on it. But of course most believe it is just a rock. Not me though. Mars has all kinds of activity going on even if these things are just chance rocks which I doubt.

Many people say that things look like metal when they see brighter areas, but if you look at photos that show metal parts of the rover you can see that they do not look the same.

Brighter doesn't mean shiny, only brighter.
