Opportunity Rover finds Dome

Recently reviewed this article regarding a recent panoramic from the opportunity rover. Clearly the image shows what appears to be a solid semi spherical object with outlying smaller structures that are less than environmentally produced. Having difficulty uploading images to a overpowered for insert from my iPhone so I provided a link to the original nasa image.

Mysterious object in Sol 4073

The pictures were taken on Sol 4073 (Martian Day 4073 or 2015-07-10 UTC on Earth) by the Opportunity rover’s panoramic camera (Pancam). The structure is easy to spot as it sits forward on a hill and is the largest raised formation in the area. Its isolation and surface – which appears to be different than the surrounding rocks and soil – makes it look like it doesn’t belong in the natural layout of the area. If it’s not natural, what is it?

Star and flag for posting OG image. Even if this is a natural structure the significance is well, significant. I would applause you if I had the power.

yeah it does look pretty uniform in shape,and different to the surrounding area........so id say its a rock......seriously though,looks very odd indeed.

I know I'm mackin on my own post but it does look like R2D2s dome and an out building off of Tatooine. I also know NASA wouldn't toss out a doctored image like this with the new STAR WARS movie coming out.

I don't know what the heck that thing is, but it doesn't look like a natural formation to me.

Thats just a rock. Its easy to tell its a rock because of where the photograph was taken. See, this is a picture of Mars, where no life of any kind, let alone dome-building civilizations, have ever existed, much less exist now. I read all about Mars in my 4th grade science book and thats the final word. All thats up there is rocks rocks rocks.

When I go to the NASA image, click on it to enlarge and then increase my zoom, it actually looks like there's a second dome to the right, a bit back and smaller. The 'snake' appears to be a deep groove in the dirt.

Super post OP. It even shows a smoothness which is reflecting light.

There is no good reason we haven't had a party of astronauts sent to Mars to explore it. I wish they would get things figured out and send some people there soon to do this. I can't wait.

Not sure....looks like some type of pipe or cable to an out building, generator or other type of device. Rock ? I think not. But who knows it is always difficult to determine size without a frame of reference.

That's a good point. This picture has been out for a few days now, there is no excuse for NASA not taking a closer look except coverup.

I demand the follow up images!

Any idea of the size of this thing?

Also, why is this in B&W? Where are the Hi-def color photos?

A metallic gleam on this object would be a game changer.
