I would say that we shouldn't need a wall. We should cut off the incentive to come here illegally. We should stop subsidizing people's existences that shouldn't be here in the first place (from the legal aspect). We should go after companies who hire illegals with a tremendous amount of ferocity. But, we won't.

And can walls be built on sand dunes? Don't they shift all the time and wouldn't that cause some serious stress on the wall?

Sometimes it's deep... very VERY deep... but there is ALWAYS bedrock down there.

After Hurricane Sandy I did a lot of emergency work on the beach and you'd be surprised how quick piles can be driven very deep.

Ya I knew you can if you really wanted to, but is it practical?
And cost efficient.

Would the shifting of the sands not be an issue? Or just have to build a really strong wall?

The cost is an interesting question. The way I see it, whatever the final cost of the wall is, it is a finite amount (other than maintenance). The cost of continuing to provide welfare services for illegals is infinite. So, to me, it's a no brainer.

The geology of the area can always be overcome. While I haven't personally worked on a project like this, I know in certain desert/sandy areas rather than drive piles all the way to bedrock they have used a much larger quantity of piles to essentially "trap" the sandy material between piles and provide enough stability to build skyscrapers.

Well I would say that is a pretty good middle ground to come to, I don't necessarily agree with it but will accept I was a bit misinformed on the walls on dunes.

Two people meeting each other halfway....
Imagine that.

What we spend annually related to illegal immigration:

1. $113 billion in cost of dealing with illegals.
2. $15 billion on medical services.
3. $39 billion on education.
4. $12 billion on border security.

Idiot political analyst and politician say where is the money coming from for the wall?

Trump is right, we need to ship them out immediately!!
