Faith involves trust in God. Trust in a theory water becomes ice when it's freezing is not faith.

Maybe you should complain to THEM instead of coming here and attacking the atheists here.

The ignorance just hurts.

Build a bridge and get over it!! Just as society has had to do for the last 2 millennia when being dictated to by the Christian Right!

You, apparently. You've got your judgments of atheists all lined up.

faith
feɪθ/Submit
noun
1.
complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
"this restores one's faith in politicians"
synonyms: trust, belief, confidence, conviction, credence, reliance, dependence; More
2.
strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

no it does not...

Faith involves trust in something.. just because you have convinced your use of the word is correct, unfortunately does not mean it is correct.

Excuse me, folks -
question for the OP - why did you decide to join ATS of all the "communities" out there, and then start threads about God?
Did you read any of the existing threads?

Proselytizing is not allowed here.

Complaints to the mods about proselytizing will get you shown the door. At the very least, you should be aware that you will be challenged by other members and called out.

For a brand new member, your thread is quite brazen. But, that's just my opinion.

Care to read what I said. You consider atheists innocent? You should have a look at the atheist facebookpages and how religion is mocked. I admit, they have no clue what they are talking about. The ignorance just hurts.

Are you really that young? Once you get out of high school (I would have hoped it might happen while you were still there) you will realize that people are going to argue

Most people grow up and learn - this will not kill you

Are you old enough to understand what came before you? We now live in a time where we are free to question religion. That was not always the case. Do you understand what happened to people that didn't believe - not even all that long ago, and often enough even now?

Do you think we shouldn't be allowed this freedom? Is it not PC to criticize religion? Or is the anti-PC brigade only ever for being able to mock who they want to mock - but hands off the religious?

You are not a protected class - you're just another human being

But you and your kin are doing that every day for the last 2000 years, but as society and civilisation has matured to a level that some of us no longer need fairytales and doom prophecies to keep us in check, you guys are now all acting "I'm being Persecuted Routine", its quite nauseating to see grown people still discussing their personal beliefs and expecting everyone else to agree with them.

Treat your beliefs as if it was male phallus. We know men have them but its not acceptable in polite society to get it out a show it off to everyone!!

Yea, the existing threads didn't very much give me the idea they were made by people of faith.

I've often struggled with this dilemma.

As a kid, I was atheist but as I became an adult I started to realize the fault with that thinking.
To me, an atheist is just as "wrong" as a theist. They both require "faith".

One has "faith" that there is a god.
The other has "faith" that there is no god.
Both require faith as neither have proof.

I now realize that I am agnostic. I just do not know. Since I do not know, I do not care.
Am I supposed to make a decision with no "real" facts to go on??

Atheists lack the belief in god/s, they reject the claims made by theists for the existence for god/s but by rejecting this claim they are not claiming that god/s do not exist.

Thus you are also an atheist, an agnostic atheist but one nonetheless. Otherwise you'd be a theist.

Now, one could argue that since we do not know, why not choose to "believe" in god and religion?

Well, based on what I have read and learned of gods and religions, no thanks.

Why would you worship someone or thing that demands to be worshiped?
That will cast you into hell for not "believing" in him/it?

That will cast someone into eternal hell for lying just as fast as for murdering??

Seems kind of dickish.

No thanks.

I'll agree that the character of the current most popular god/s are not very appealing, but that alone isn't enough (in my opinion at least) to reject a claim. Holding beliefs based on what we want or prefer is usually the theists game.

LOL, now your just proving what a nincompoop you really are. I bet you'll have a different ATS handle by this time next week.

"A wise man once said, better to remain silent and appear stupid than to speak and remove all doubt",

unfortunately, you have now removed all doubt!!

There are THOUSANDS of threads on this forum alone - check out Origins and Creationism, and Conspiracies in Religion also - I can assure you ATS is not lacking in members of faith. Just don't expect us all to treat you with kid gloves because you're a believer.

This thread is a good example. You asked for it, Ladybug.

Are you saying believers aren't people of faith? That's ridiculous you know.
