Fear is the mind killer.

Humans don't like change, don't like being outside of their comfort zone, they don't like to challenge the Status Quo. Countries have bred the perfect mule. Close-minded, fearful, simple, sanctimonious, and xenophobic. More flaws to be checked off with the Seven Sins.

I don't buy into that kind of lie. There is rarely ever a good reason to lie, outside of fatally wounding a person's feeling on deep personal level. Not everyone has a child's weaker mental characteristics. You can, we can, handle the truth, and come to terms with it. No law in the universe is absolute. Everything is flexible.

If you want a simple life, or to live vicariously like a child, you can without all the baggage. You don't need to be ignorant, adventurous, or tribal to live by a certain simple standard. Simple life can be preserved. You can live a child's life at perpetual play, ambition, crave for discovery, and unblemished commune with others without the bad behavior concurrent with simple flaws. Left in the dark, self centered, or haphazard.

Aspects of life can be remodeled without full demolition and collateral damage. Steady phasing in. No Shiva based dogma, no feudal repression that lasts generations.

Humans need to grow up, and put their big boy Underoos on.

Now imagine that havoc with just 30 out for themselves, try billions out for themselves...
ie the nut jobs have bandied together, it minimises wreckage...
Of course this relies on the notion that without religion it would be uproar in the billions, arguable either way really.

Nah, you shouldn't equate Atheism with people being out for themselves. As people not concerned with an afterlife, we are more in it for our fellow humans than doing (arguably) 'good deeds' to save our souls (selfish)...

...it's not doing a good job at 'minimising wreckage' so far, or ever in fact...

So yes, it is arguable either way, and there are seven billion viewpoints (as an attempt at appeasement) anyway...

Just a bit of interesting writing - nothing more - along the same lines as "Ooh, there would never be alien disclosure because the truth is too hard for humans to handle!"

Why don't these things ever just tell the truth? Rather than always saying "I know something you don't know."

First question:
Who the hell is this?

We who are tasked with the survival of our species,

What species?

Don't know of anyone tasked with such a thing. And if there is someone they
suck.

"Out lawyer god"? That would be like learning to hunt fairies.

Who the hell is this?

Same question I'm asking. I was hoping you would know.

What species?

That would likely be us. Judging by the context.

Don't know of anyone tasked with such a thing.

Neither do I. But then, there's a lot going on in this world we don't know about.

And if there is someone they suck.

Don't most self appointed overseers of humanity?

Didn't you read the quote? The truth would destroy humanity. We can't have that, now can we?

Too simple Zazzy. It needs to be more convoluted. Much more.

I have a feeling it might be from Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

That's a classic by Asimov. I haven't read the series, but maybe someone rewrote something Asimov said to suit them. Obviously, there are a thousand possibilities. As of yet, I haven't found anything resembling more than a partial sentence at this point. Who knows where it came from. I just thought it was interesting, and was curious about it.

Clash Of The Titans is about the Titans obviously...

I'm sure there is a part where the demi-god narrator says this explaining that "the gods" built man to harness the energy of worship and the people wouldn't believe it even if "the gods" themselves said it to them...

I'm sure I heard this recently and I watched COTT about a week ago.

Edit: sorry to ramble I'm just really interested in knowing the source of the quote now. Grrrrrr.

I believe that may be a robert heinland quote.

Could be. All I know is search engines aren't coming up with anything, and no one has been able to post a similar quote, even though it has a familiar ring to all of us. That's why I'm thinking it's a re-word taken from one or more authors.

Or it could be just what it sounds like. It really wouldn't surprise me that a group like this could exist, and see it as their mission to maintain the status quo, for fear that whatever "truth" they are referring to, would be destructive if it were widely disseminated and believed. This says they aren't looking for publicity or accolades. But literally fear the fallout from such disclosure. All hypothetically speaking, of course.

Religion has been with us since the start of human progress, maybe its the only functional doctrine to our true nature of our very own demise. If someone become an enlightened, within the same boundary as an ancient figure and without any control. That person would act within his true nature and the damage would be horrendous to all humans alike. It would become a darkness which would spread its seed to all the corners of the world.
If they laid out it like this and showed their face, it says we tried everything and we are afraid of what the person is capable. Something spun out of control.
And the message goes like this; "please stop" Thats the message.

If not from a novel or movie, It sounds to me like whoever wrote it claims to have knowledge beyond what is currently known about our origins. The person or group of people seems to think that if the public knew the truth that gods don't exist, it may lead to moral decay and nobody caring about each other anymore. Honestly, I believe the exact opposite to be true. Maybe it's bilderbergers? Maybe there's something far worse out there? More than likely it's just a load of crap.
