So what happens when the item that was used by ISIS to shoot down a Russian airliner is tracked back to a illegal arms sale by the US State Department and the weapon was smuggled from Benghazi? Oh, that's right...nothing.

or again, could it have been a bomb? I mean, saying you shot down a plane is really the same all purposes as brought down a plane. Maybe they did not need missile.

Either way, I do not think this was 'pilot error' or air frame issues. We can all have opinions.

No traces of explosives found on parts tested so far.

m.sputniknews.com...

At least one expert and retired pilot thinks it was under control until impact, hitting tail first.

I like how the news media is babbling about the aircraft owner claiming it was not possible for there being anything but external force that brought this craft down.

They must mean gravity.

Either they're all as bad "as the Thugs hired to do their dirty work" or the world is actually a more complicated place than certain, simplistic people would have us believe.

Its real simple.

The west wants Assad replaced with a puppet of their own but doesn't have a mandate to invade like they did in Iraq and Libya, so they have chosen to fake a rebellion and use hired mercenaries, clandestinely trained and armed.

Thats the vague part. The clear part is Russia is destroying them now.

Also clearer over time, the West is losing more credibility with their claims of fighting wars on terr to facilitate 'Regime Change' for 'Humanitarian' reasons.

I thought the exact same thing after watching the video, and was going to ask the same question. To me it looks like a cockpit view of a trailing aircraft.

The Russ attacking ISIS would be a good thing if it weren't to defend Asshat.

This is a proxy war and the Russ are going against the interests of the U.S..

Not my interests as I don't have any interests in anything as I am kinda not even really here.

Didn't the Lockerbie PAN AM Flight explode at the same height? It was triggered by the barometric pressure if I remember. I believe there is no such thing as coincidence I guess...

If there was an explosion, the pilots may have tried to control it and could not and it is reported they sent no warning about an event. Based on the black box there was a catastrophic incident that brought it down and NOT from the outside.

Well they are allies and invited by the legitimate government of that country. Unlike the US and its 'In(terr)ests'.

Not far fetched to suppose them terrs would be looking for a little payback. Thats the problem with hiring criminals, they might get out of hand.

I'd be more comfortable if the plane wasn't filled with Russians and over Terror-tory occupied by elements of ISIS.

I'd also be more comfortable if there hadn't been intercepted phone calls talking about downing a "plane" several days ago. My post in the thread about it…

Pan Am was slightly higher IIRC. The transponder data shows that the end of the flight was extremely chaotic. They lost 400 knots, followed by descents that exceeded 7,000 feet per minute and climbs that exceeded 8,000 feet per minute. It rollar coasted several times before the data suddenly ended.

Could be due to the aircraft tumbling due to loss of tail thus no stabilising moment. The tumbling would play havoc with the pressures inside the pitot tube hence the VSI could be reading wild, oscillating values as suggested by public data from flightradar, thoughts?

I am inclined to believe structural weakness and a fatigue failure from the tail strike not being fixed properly and fourteen years of subsequent pressurisation cycles.

I'm leaning towards either a possible cargo hold fire causing controllability problems leading to the tail breaking off, or a bad reading in the cockpit leading to an incorrect response from the crew resulting in a stall and over correction that had the same result. Their speed dropped from over 400 knots to less than 70 at one point.

Theta a picture of what appears to be the forward hold that shows fire damage. Hard to know if that was a result of the impact or cause of the problems without the FDR though.

Islamic State releases video of shooting Russian plane out of the sky

OK - firstly, there is no sound associated with this footage and as it has only just been released, I wanted to get it uploaded here asap to get ATS's take on the validity of it - if indeed it is even the right footage and not something else or CGI.

I thought dodgy UFO videos were bad enough - but this one too is all blurry and all over the place, still, I have provided 3 sources telling the same story.

Opinions, criticisms and thoughts, as always, are most welcome.......

No.

According to other references I've come across (but annoyingly can't find to link to for this thread) the video is not a commercial jet.

ISIS do not have the equipment necessary to hit a plane flying at 35,000 feet. You're into proper SAM territory there and that takes both specialised equipment and well-trained operators.

If there was any chance of claiming ISIS did this, Russian media would be bleating it from the rooftops. Not that Russia is actually interested in doing anything about ISIS, but it's useful propaganda to support continuing operations in the region.

My question would be,
why is ISIS in Egypt and why isn't Egypt doing something about that?

It took Russian military hardware and training to take down MH17.

Yes ofc thats why the Russians have called for an independent investigation to look at the forensics properly.

I do not think that they will do that to Syria, however, I can see them pumping troops and arms into Syria, and backing Assad, and giving him alot of support and ending the civil war there in a crushing fashion.
