That depends on what you mean by "freedom from religion".
If they would only repent, they could be among us, and watch god murder 2/3 of humanity during the tribulation, because he's pissed.

Interesting, because The Gospels say that the devil is a liar and murderer, and 1/3 of the angels/spirits rebelled with the devil while 2/3 were still good.
I don't see anything wrong with optional prayer that doesn't take up class time.
