Those islands are outside the recognized EEZ of China, and are in international waters. Any nation has the right to pass through the 12 mile limit at any time, even with warships. China has as much right to sail through the US 12 mile limit as the US has to sail through the Chinese 12 mile limit.

China is trying lay claim to just about every island in the chain. Our destroyers will be miles from china mainland. They will however be within 12 miles of international waters illegally claimed by china. The man made islands China is making are from grinding up the coral reefs for sand!!!
Apparently western media is very rarely allowed to see what is going on out there.

They really don't at all,if they WANT to see the US in a war, a burning carrier will do that RATHER quickly.
China can protect local real estate alone, NOT oppose the world wide US navy fleet.

China would never engage the US in war crimes, we already have that down pat, they are smart enough to amass allies and let the US exhaust its arms and eventually self destruct itself and credibility in democracy rhetoric. Having served on two Naval vessels, one amphib (lhd) and a DDG (arleigh burke class) recently, i can tell you that we are getting very exhausted.

Yes and no. It's their island, but unlike other territory, it doesn't get the 12 mile limit, or the EEZ surrounding it. So anyone has the right to fly over or sail past it at any time.

You can't build artificial islands and pretend you have a 12nm radius of no go zone for the rest of the world. Someone has to challenge this ridiculous BS.
