turns out he still has a penis just smaller due to hormone therapy, his appearance
would make him extra vulnerable to rape especially because prisoners probably won't be picky, so not too sure where i stand now i mean the penis revelation kind of changed the debate.

Perhaps so we don't run into this sort of problem in the future they should make a trans wing in some prisons.

That's what solitary confinement is for, protecting vulnerable inmates.

Her doctor wrote to the court and confirmed full gender reassignment, no more operations to be done.
All that is needed to change gender on a UK passport is a letter from the doctor. The court ignored the letter and went on the technicality that the passport had not been changed.

Dreadful business. They have let her down. If I was the judge I would have batted my eyelashes and said walk free, but the blue meanies don't see it like that.

I wonder how the female inmates would react? Personally, I will treat a person how they wish to be treated. If they adopt an alternative gender then I go along with their wishes.

I hope the time goes quick for her. That time should soon pass. I think they will look out for her. Despite the rumours most prisoners are pretty cool. It will only be common sense to make sure she is safe and that should not be a problem especially with such a short sentence.

But it was a technicality with the passport that the Magistrate went with.
As I said, a letter from a doctor is all that is needed to change gender on a UK passport, yet the court ignored the letter supplied to them.
I don't think the sensible decision has been made in this case, and I really expect it will be overturned in a matter of days.

Well it looks that until the Passport office ratifies the sex change, she is still a he in the eyes of the law.

As for vulnerability, yes I agree. I can only assume she has a violent history, because someone I know wrapped a bar stool around someone's head in a bar here in Bristol and was given a suspended sentence due to previous good record.

I don't feel sorry for this person. He is a criminal and maybe they should have thought of that before assaulting someone. What are we worried about exactly? People get raped in prison all the time. I recommend avoiding these places.

If we knew the reasons for the fight she was in maybe it could okay with her being sent to prison, an all male prison no less.
I've been in a scuffle or two for defending my honor and was not charged or sentenced to anything.
We don't have the whole story here as to what went down in the fight and would prison be okay if it was two men ''working things out'' in the olds school way, perhaps if one of the men were sent to the emergency room.

She said the hormone treatment had shrunken Hudson's genitals, she was due to have the penis removed "at some point" and was still taking hormone treatment she has been receiving for some years.

Yes and it is saying that the law will not allow people to change gender and will go looking for any technicality to have an individual conform to the gender of their birth. Law should either say you can change gender or not and have that recognised by law, not leave people in limbo like this.

Your earlier suggestion that trans people should have their own wing is humane, but it is still saying that the law does not recognise the transformation fully and WILL discriminate as and when it suits the institutions to do so.

Seems the authorities are rather perplexed and discriminatory still.

Should change subject to "Dude with tits sent to all-male prison". Would make more sense.

Agreed, it's one hell of a can of worms though isn't it.

Thanks for that. I was wondering about this as it seemed rather peculiar what the judge was up to. Well, whatever, she will still need extra care in a male jail. I hope she finds some friends there who look out for her. Definitely extra care required if they are gonna go through with this and send her to male jail.

I just posted the exact title as plucked from the local regional newspaper link, not my words.

...and to be fair I posted my correction as soon as the information was out.

The judges/magistrate/whatever, really messed up here. Arguably, chromosomally she is still male. However, if she no longer has male genitals, and looks the way she does in that pic??? This is a simple matter of logic. Not ethics, LGBT issues etc... (Although my personal theory, which I will touch on later is this is exactly the problem)

You put THAT in a jail of hungry for "female action" men.... it ain't rocket science what will ensue.

Investigate those responsible for this decision. I wouldn't be surprised if they hold extreme views against gender reassignment... That, or they are completely devoid of any logic/reason whatsoever.

Edit: after reading the "UPDATE" to discover she still has "vestiges of male parts", it does make the issue slightly more confusing. Still though, I think and hope a better option can be found for her.
