Please explain how a vote for Sanders takes away from our liberty and personal property.

I've made many posts on that addressing size and scope of government and tax reform. I've even addressed entitlement reform within the context of the first two without necessarily cutting the monetary value of entitlement payouts but while still reducing spending and size and scope of government.

I know, but its just a big circular argument. Guess you better go vote, because I will this time around.

I just found the thread - thanks for posting it.
As I read through your OP, I notice you said

Bernie is promising a vastly differently America - so either he'll deliver it, or he'll be held most accountable.

Here's the thing about that. I don't think he's ever said, "If I win, I promise." No. He's more of a "this is what I think needs to happen" kind of a guy. He hasn't promised us "anything", but I DO AGREE that he is 'promising' to FIGHT FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES.

Whether or not our mentally challenged CONGRESS will COOPERATE is an entirely different matter.

A man as smart as Sanders obviously is would NEVER want to run for POTUS unless he was truly sincere; the people's opinions match his in many ways. And he's raised his money FROM US -

Not being dismissed like Ron Paul was....he has the media's attention.

I don't always love executive orders, but it seems to get anything reasonable done, they might have to be used in large amounts - just hope it's by a decent person that actually wants a better America.

I believe he does. His refusal to solicit megamoney-support speaks for itself.

Right now sanders has my vote and the more I see of Rand Paul, he's my guy on the right. They both seem sincere.

Me, too!! I could live with either one, I think.

The rest?
No, thank you, I'm full.

I'm going to write in Sanders as my vote. Clinton is being handed the dem ticket, but at least we have a choice. Write him in if you want him as president.

I'm not voting for a career politician. Period.

I don't care if there is an R or a D after their name. If all they've done in their adult life is be a politician, then they are part of the problem, not the solution.

Sanders has been a politician for a long as I've been alive. 44 years. I'm not going to believe for one second that he is anything other than a politician who should have been booted by non existent term limits.

It was never intended for Congress to be a career. As a matter of fact, regular citizens should be the ones running for office. Then, turn the office over to another. The more that Congress turns over it's members, the better off we would be. Corruption cannot set in, when the faces are constantly changing.

Long term politicians breed apathy, and complacency.

So, I'll not be voting for anyone who has a prior political career.

Then don't vote at all - unless you're a Trump fan.

And if you don't vote, then don't come asquawking and moaning when stuff happens. You didn't vote? Then you get what the VOTERS voted for.

I've always assumed the system was rigged, like straight up the machines didn't count the votes correctly, but someone brought up a better point that perhaps it's just rigging it in less obvious ways. Like CNN reporting that Hilary won the first debate, even though every online poll and think group says sanders.. Like the media refusing to give some politicians any attentions - it's manipulation in a "legal" way.

If this premise is true and voting is counted in a real way.. We just have to make sure more people know about sanders.

That's really all we can do until the election.

Unfortunately, MANY MILLIONS of people won't even listen to him, or take him seriously. We can say, "Look at what Bernie stands for, though!" and, you know what?

THEY WON'T. They've already dug in their heels, "decided" he's either a) a communist (which is FALSE), or b) another yapping career politician lying through his teeth.

Especially around these parts. This site is so incredibly divided, and such a valuable place to learn about "society" in general - a "microcosm" of what's out there.

Socialism never works, ever

Have you ever been to a socialist country? No? Then what the hell do you know?

Socialism worked fine in Europe until our bankers started selling them the same bogus investments that ruined our economy, and then convinced their governments to push austerity on them.

Bernie Sanders wants to ban semi-automatic rifles. He will never receive a vote from me going after law abiding citizens right to protect themselves.

Trump
Carson
Fiorina

I ALWAYS vote. Every year, every election. And have for 26 years.

Don't try to lecture me, I do my civic duty.

Trump is a reality TV star.

Carson is a doctor who insists that no "Muslim" should ever be president.

Fiorina is a multi-millionaire global-conglomerate, bonus-earning CEO of a company that is publicly traded (WALL STREET) called Hewlett Packard (HP products SUCK, btw) who says that "the rest of us" (who is "us," Carly?) are being trampled by the 1% (her own clan). And who fell for the bastardized propaganda circulating about Planned Parenthood.

Cuz, you need an assault rifle, meant only to kill many people at once, with hundreds of rounds available....WHY?

So you can go to a theatre and kill a bunch-o-folks? Or a university campus? Or a church?

WHY IN THE HELL do you need that?
Zombies?
Raccoons gone Rapid?

Muslim hoards?

Homeless, starving people?

WHO DO YOU NEED TO SLAUGHTER?

I'm not "lecturing" you. But you think that every two (or four) years, we should just hire inexperienced newbies who are at the very beginning of the "learning curve"?

Obama was an inexperienced newbie. Just like Trump, Carson, Fiorina, Cruz, or any other "green" entry.

I have thought in the past that we should just chuck ALL of the politicians out, and choose from the bloody phone book, using darts.....

but the fact is that anyone who is NOT FAMILIAR with the way things actually work will take a couple of years (or more) to really get the hang of it. When a newbie is up against corporate lobbyists, THEY ARE HOSED. THE LOBBYISTS will win.
