Detroit is controlled by the republican governor, as many cites are in Michigan.....Detroit was gutted do to wealthy conservatives moving auto production into crap wage countries, putting Americans out of work, all the while stuffing their own off-shore bank accounts full of money....how that can be blamed on a mayor, defies logic.

Do people in this thread not understand how to read? It sure does seem like it. OP I understand what your trying to convey and great thread on proving your point. The political party followers only see in Red and Blue.

I completely agree. I think the political color of the mayor is a result of the mindset of the cities residents, not the reverse.
Detroit has a large black population and they tend to vote for democrats. Cause and effect.

You're logic states that the most violent cities are not mostly democratic, and then provide evidence to the contrary. To explain this you say "Well, they just happen to be in a city that was already violent." The mayor SHOULD be able to do something about that. It's kinda part of his/her job. Geesh. I've spent a lot of time in the past looking at the history of these cities. Obviously you have not. You fail.

I got an idea!!.....let's cut out unions, keep the minimum wage from rising, cut taxes on the highest earners, make sure capital gains taxes are low, send good paying jobs off-shore, make sure Exxon doesn't pay any federal taxes (as do some large corporations) while getting a $30,000,000.00 rebate, defund company based retirements, job-training, health care, etc....and we will continue to see crime rates rise!!!!!...let's stick it to the poor and indigent!!!!....they are just eaters and breeders anyway , right?.....AHHHH....it's great to be a conservative in America!!!!!

According to the FBI, in 2012 (that last year for full reporting) the US cities with the highest murder rate were:
1. Detrot - Mayor Mike Duggan (D)
2. New Orleans - Mayor Mitch Landrieu (D)
3. St. Louis - Mayor Francis Slay (D)
4. Baltimore - Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-lake (D)
5. Newark - Mayor Ras Baraka (D)
6. Oakland - Mayor Libby Shaaf (D)
7. Stockton - Mayor Anthony Silva (D)
8. Kansas City - Mayor Sly James (I)
9. Philadelphia - Mayor Michael Nutter (D)
10. Cleveland - Mayor rank Jackson (D)
11. Memphis - Mayor A C Wharton (D)
12. Atlanta - Mayor Kasim Reed (D)
13. Chicago - Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D)

I stopped at Chicago because that's closest to me.

There isn't one republican on that list. This is the worst of the worst in the USA. The typical liberal tactic is to say "republicans do it too" as if that makes it ok. Its not ok. Not even close.

Every shooting that happens in a school happens in a gun free zone as defined by the 1990 gun free school zone act. In 1982 then Mayor Jane Byrne passed a hand gun ban in the city of Chicago. Violent crime involving hand guns rose approximately 40% after the ban went into effect. Criminals like it when the victims are unarmed.

Democrats are always the ones shouting the loudest to take away guns when there is a tragedy somewhere in one of their gun free zones. How many people have to die before the democrats figure out that putting up a sign doesn't stop crime? How many people have to die before democrats figure out that one good guy with a gun could save lives?

Every time a terrorist kills, beheads, or burns an infidel alive democrats tell us not to blame all muslims for the actions of a few. That's ok. Why then do democrats blame all people who own guns for the actions of a few? The NRA is the only organization in the US that is constantly blamed for crimes it's members do not commit.

NO, because all of their cities should be non violent, not just the smaller ones that are easier to manage. What completely ridiculous logic. Really the only point you're making as that democrats shouldn't be given much responsibility.
