The question is , is it IS they are bombing or Syrian rebels against Assad...?

What exactly is the different between ISIS/IS/ISIL/DAESH and "Syrian Rebel?" I don't quite understand the difference..

If you are confused, Russian propaganda is working. ISIS/IS/ISIL/DEASH is an international terror organization engaged in jihad. They operate in Yemen, Algeria, Libya, Russia, Europe, and, soon, the United States. Their goal is world domination, first, by destroying the apostate Shi'ites, then the other infidels.

There are numerous rebel groups in Syria; some Islamist, some secular. They were radicalized by Assad's brutal domestic policies and unwillingness to hold fair elections. Their goal is the overthrow of the Syrian Ba'athist (Fascist) regime. Some of the rebels do cross over to Daesh for one reason or another.

So much for the USA being "Thee Super Power" in the world. Russia has done more to destroy ISIS in five days than we have in thirteen months. My take is that Obama and company liked to keep ISIS around to perpetrate a boogie man scenario to have an excuse to create the police state when needed i.e. like when the Pope was in Philly. Now that Russia is getting rid of them they'll have to create a new boogeyman to instill terror i.e. control the masses.

I think it is time for Americans to got caught up on current events.. Maybe get the facts before giving opinions..

Or we are not going to see what comes next...

I do wonder (removing the propaganda) whether the ineffectiveness of the US and the West (UK) is more about how they conduct 21st Century war under such close media scrutiny. Will Russia call off an air strike if there is a chance of killing a civilian even though the prize may be 10 terrorists? Will a Russian soldier be up in court for torturing an enemy combatant?
The technologies (I believe) is still edging with the US but the I do think that the US has lost the plot about the "purpose of war"

You sound like you have all the facts then, you're obviously on the inside of the ME crisis. Please enlighten me so I can make an educated opinion. I'll be waiting with bated breath. Thanks in advance.

Oh my god.

Why don't people just change the topic name to Putin saves the world.

People Russia just opened the door for decades of terrorist attacks inside Russia.

What the west has been dealing with for decades.

Terrorists don't lose people.

They just create MORE terrorists.

The only difference is Putin will deal with the terrorists if they should attack within Russia. He won't cater to them with kid gloves and create an environment of political correctness to target them, like here.

Bunch of rusty old hulks by the look of them.

Feel sorry for the sailors aboard. Serving in the Russian Navy must be a pretty short straw to draw.

At one time I drove a rusty old hulk (1974) GM Nova, the outside looked like cornflakes but the innards worked just fine:-)
Nobody and I mean nobody ever beat me in a speed contest or passed me if I did not want them to.

It's what is packed inside that counts.

Regards, Iwinder

The British 38 british tourists massacred by ISIS in Tunisia may disagree with the notion the UK isnt at war with ISIS....

I don't think so.

These British citizens in Tunesia were murdered by stateless outlaws claiming to be part of a non-existing so-called "islamic state". These stateless outlaws should be found out and brought to justice. Likewise, 196 of my landsmen were killed by presumably other stateless outlaws whom, as it seems, fired a BUK rocket towards flight MH17. These criminals should also be found out and brought to justice.

We tend to make these criminal gangs bigger than they are. Gangs that operate internationally should be taken care of by the international community. By declaring "war" on them, we honour them. They don't deserve that. They are plain and simple criminals, no more.

Both at the moment and I imagine it will stay that way. As much as I hate Assad and distrust Russia I think they've finally got it right on this one and are also trying to show up the US by avoiding a huge power vacuum post war (though imagine and hope Assad will be replaced quite quickly soon after things settle down).

In a nutshell, all Syrian rebels want to overthrow Syrian regime.

Some believe in strict application of Sunni religious law and intolerance of Shia, Christians, seculars and obviously Jews.

One, ISIS/Daesh, wants to overthrow everybody. In particular, US allies like Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are next on their list. Only Daesh has exerted military power outside the border of Syria and (maybe) the only one to overtly support terrorism outside Syria, though groups in the second category above are often sympathetic to international Islamic terrorists.

Actually there's a big difference between criminals, motivated by self-interest, and violent groups motivated by ideology, religion and politics.

Who fills the vacuum once ISIS is gone? It's never ending dude. Maybe this world does need a savior or some kind of other worldly intervention.
