Do you get fresh air in your bunker? You are kidding, right? Please?

Amen. For what it's worth, I've not seen any references to evacuations and wondered that myself.

I'm related to several teachers. If you have credible evidence of a bomb threat, first order is to evacuate the premises and call in the bomb squad. The teacher's response in this case was simply asinine.

if that kid was smart enough to make a clock then he is smart enough to know the terror level in the usa. That kid could have colsed an airport with that thing.
It was a dry run and he should be charged.

I see his female relatives dress modestly.....
Emily pankhurst will be turning in her grave.

Suggesting this speaks about all Texans is no better than blaming a race for the actions of one or two members. Not surprised though.

Methinks thou's butt doth hurt a bit much. There's a Fark news tag for Florida news, but I doubt anyone is truly serious & malicious towards Floridians as a whole when making fun of things like bath salts zombies or redneck morons when they make the news.

That said, there are times states earn their scorn. Texas in this case has. The whole thing is a brief example of the facepalm-level college educmacation sistum & it's resulting graduating teechurz when their student does excel.

Ha!

I used to make homemade fireworks and play with all sorts of nasties in my "homemade" chemical kit . Most of which my chemistry teacher taught me how to do.

Used to enjoy my chemistry.

Now days they wont even let the kids do the practicals in some schools

Keep in mind I was in middle school just 5 years after 9/11 in the height of the "War on Terror". A cousin of mine who *is* muslim and was in 8th grade regularly got spat upon for wearing hijab. That was in Louisiana though, not Seattle.

As for science education and hands on experiments I am in total agreement with you. There is no better way for kids to become interested, perhaps for life in science than working on something with others in their class or with their teacher.

The stuff taught in the book comes alive and real and you start to see science all around you as a kid with a good science teacher.

I do not think a book is enough. Though some apps are very good so there's always that.

You should really take the time to put it in context. This wasn't a potato clock. He brought it a ticking suitcase. Have you seen what the inside of it looked like? It totally looked like a bomb.

Most electronics do if you take them apart.

That's no excuse sorry.

A dry run? Are you seriously saying that this kid, who is a rather smart kid, is stupid enough to make something like that, and show it to a teacher is doing a dry run for a bomb plot?

Really?

...and I thought I was paranoid.

Ask yourself this question: If the kid had been named John Smith and had blonde hair and blue eyes would you react the same?

As a native Texan, I find it ironic that Texas in now getting a taste of the medicine that they have been forcing down the throat of California all these years.

The Dark Side is strong with this one I see. As is the idiocy. It was a clock. Not a bomb. Try and take your TV remote apart and what do you have! Oooh, it looks electronic - must be a bomb!!!!

No. Get a grip.

If that picture that has gone, I suppose, viral is the actual thing he built? It looks nothing like a bomb.

Again, if he's smart enough to build a bomb, as you are so delicately accusing him of, he's also smart enough not to show it to his teacher. Why would he do that anyway, if it's a bomb?

As for your way over the top generalizations of him? Grow the hell up. You don't know him in the slightest. You know nothing of his views, or his families views.

There's a word for that sort of viewpoint...actually it's two words. Religious bigotry.
