Who or what created the universe. Many people look to science for an explanation, but those who believe in creationism seem to lack or turn a blind eye to science and simply have faith. This is a compelling lecture by Dr. Chuck Missler who combines the two (science & religion) to explain the creationism theory. Chuck is a very intelligent man who has translated the Bible from Hebrew to Greek and has embarked on many touchy topics regarding Christianity & Science.

(Watch video to get the details)

Dr. Chuck Missler writes:

The Nature of Time

One of the many advantages that 20th century science has given us is that, thanks to Dr. Albert Einstein's brilliant discoveries, we now know that time is a physical property and is subject to mass, acceleration, and gravity. We have come to realize that we live in a four-dimensional continuum properly known as "space-time." (This is what Paul seems to imply in his letter to the Ephesians!8) It is interesting that when one takes the apparent 1012 expansion factor involved in the theories of the "expanding universe," that an assumed 16 billion years reduce to six days!

Source

I would like to hear the opinions of others and see if any of Dr. Chuck Missler's scientific claims can be debunked or if he actually knows what he is talking about. Hopefully we can have a civil discussion without insulting other people's faith and beliefs. That goes for both believers and non-believers. Let's just stick to what we can prove and disprove in regards to this video. You must watch the video to get the full picture and all of the information. Thanks to those who will take the time to hear this out.

I like Chuck's many lectures and Bible studies . He has a vast collection of knowledge and seems to go between faith and the sciences quite well . One of the earlier books I read that delved into the Bible was The Seal of God . PDF version god-help.org... The author examines the numbers associated in our world like flowers, birds , and just things that can be broken down with a number . He then goes into looking at numbers behind scriptures . A fascinating read imo

Agreed. In fact, here is a biography of Dr. Chuck Missler for those who are not familiar with him and his past accomplishments.

Source

Charles W. Missler graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy before working for several years in the aerospace and computer industries. He joined the Ford Motor Company in 1963.[1] Missler joined Western Digital as chairman and chief executive in June 1977, and became the largest shareholder of Western Digital.[2] In a 1984 interview, Western Digital's then chairman, Roger Johnson described the company under Missler as having a good reputation for technology with a terrible reputation for execution, and seriously undercapitalized.[3]

Dr. Chuck Missler explains in detail the myths of science in his lecture (video). I know people don't have the time to watch long videos, but if you ever get the chance you should. It's very compelling and interesting regardless of which side you are on.

Missler has also written the foreword to Exo-Vaticana, a book which uses anecdotal evidences to draw attention to the Vatican and its practices. The book loosely presents the possibility that the Vatican is communicating with extraterrestrial life

Incidentally, I know the Vatican astronomer who said he would baptize an extra-terrestrial if she wanted. He was messing with the reporter's head.

Could you due the Christian thing and summarize them please? A simple list would do.

If the notion of God is included, it is not science. Not at all. "God" gives you a wild card to explain what is unexplainable (either through human ignorance, or human laziness).

That isn't to say that ancient writings don't potentially show deeper understanding than is typically considered. This is the nature of ancient religions. There are/were no "Gods" insomuch as there was divine information. Or, rather, information not obvious to the average person (the profane).

But the notion of God us as unscientific as you can get. You could just substitute the word "magic" and have the exact same result (once you get past any related cognitive dissonance)

I find it fascinating and a bit alarming that the Vatican has been speaking of Extraterrestrials over the past few years. To me it raises a red flag. As if they know something we don't. They said extraterrestrials don't interfere with the Bible and it's word. They have their own astronomers and large telescope now as well. They have admitted that extraterrestrial life most definitely exists considering the vastness of our universe and all of the Earth=like planets out there. The Vatican is known to have many secrets that they have kept for centuries. They are similar to a secret society.

You could also say there was a "Divine Intervention" somewhere along the line.

You could...but then yo are just invoking magic in place of science. That isn't science...that is fantasy.

That is exactly what i was just saying.

Why? The topic of extra-terrestrial life has been discussed widely of late; it is part of our current events, and the Vatican tends to comment on current events. Incidentally, the Vatican has not officially weighed in on the topic yet. Brother Guy is speaking for himself, not the Church.

To me it raises a red flag. As if they know something we don't.

That is part of their dogma: the Church knows the Truth. It applies to everything.

They said extraterrestrials don't interfere with the Bible and it's word.

Of course, because their dogma is infallible, therefore everything that exists is congruent with the teachings of the Bible (properly interpreted).

They have their own astronomers and large telescope now as well.

They have had their own astronomers since the 16th century; they created the calendar you now use. The first telescopic observatory in the Vatican proper dates from 1891.

No they have not. Please find a statement by anyone but members of the UFO cult who use the word "definitely."

The Vatican is known to have many secrets that they have kept for centuries.

Most of their secrets consist of juicy things they've heard in confessionals.

They are similar to a secret society.

Not being a member of a secret society, I couldn't say.

The following is a small sampling of ridiculous biblical theories put forth or endorsed by Missler and his ministry over the years. Many of these have been debunked and some are no longer promoted by Missler.

1. He thought the face on Mars indicated that there are Martians who are planning an attack on earth via the moon which would signal the start of the Tribulation. It has been a number of years since he has said this.

2. He thinks that once Mars was so close to earth that you could see its two moons. The proof offered was that Jonathan Swift in his famous book, Gulliver's Travels (1726), describes Mars as having two small moons, way before these two moons were discovered in 1877 by Asaph Hall. He explains this by saying that Mars in ancient times was very close to the earth so man could see these two moons. Then Jupiter ejected a comet (now the planet Venus) which passed close to earth, causing the plagues of Egypt, and parting the Red Sea for Moses. Centuries later Venus jolted Mars into its present orbit. This theory is a delusional fantasy that is devoid of facts.

3.He believes the Bible is one single, harmonious, unified, inspired book, and every detail, every word, every letter, was put there by the authorship of the holy spirit for a reason. He believes this regardless of the well- supported fact that the bible is mostly pseudographical, and has been edited, revised, and embellished many times over.

4. He considers the war in Iraq a prelude to the establishment of the Antichrist’s kingdom on earth, as foretold in the Book of Revelations. He believed and promoted the same type of scenario in regard to the potential nuclear exchange between the U.S. and the Soviet Union In the 1980's.

5. He was among the group of doomsday quacks that believed and preached that the Y2K glitch would usher in the "end times".

Missler has many, many other wild theories and claims he has concocted and supported over the years. His website is www.khouse.org.

Chuck missler has been writing his fantasy work ever since he lost his millions in the '70's. His wife writes religiously focused self help books. Mostly telling women to submit to their husbands. Look up chuck missler debunked. There is nothing of any value in any of his books. Fantasy and lies. His work is full of disclaimers like. "If any of my hypothesis are proven true, it could change the world.

He was a talented electrical engineer at one point, but that work is much harder than writing fantasy novels. So he gave it up.

Maybe "definitely" wasn't a good word, but they have pretty much settled in to the idea that aliens exist.

Father Jose Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory in Rome
states:

We are not alone, says Vatican: Pope's chief astronomer says alien life exists.
Vatican chief astronomer says there may be intelligent life on other planets
Discovery of new Earth-like planet Kepler-452b has strengthened this belief
He said 'vast majority of stars' could have planets that may support life
However Father Jose Funes said Jesus was a 'unique event' in history

No he does not. He is being intentionally misquoted. Here is what he actually said, emphasis mine:

Vatican chief astronomer says there may be intelligent life on other planets Discovery of new Earth-like planet Kepler-452b has strengthened this belief. He said 'vast majority of stars' could have planets that may support life. However Father Jose Funes said Jesus was a 'unique event' in history

The central dogma of the Catholic Church is that the birth, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ was a unique event throughout all time... and space.

Like I said. The Vatican has settled in to the possibility that aliens do exists. So much so that they have changed their stance on the issue and are now trying to work it into their ideology and religion.

They have not changed their stance at all. Catholic theologians have speculated on extraterrestrial life for centuries. You don't understand the Catholic mind. They don't need to work it into their religion. The word "catholic" means "universal." Their dogma is that the Church teachings are valid for all time, throughout the entire Universe, whether it's flat or infinite. Now, what are the "myths of astronomy" that this thread is supposed to be about?
