A Pennsylvania barbershop has been penalized for defending the sanctity of bro time: after denying a woman a haircut, they were fined $750.

The “high end Gentleman’s” hair cuttery is called Barbiere because French is the language of strong men. It advertises its brofferings as such:
jezebel.com...

Pls klik the link for more, a short article but with probably some social consequences when is it ok to discriminate, klk the vid if you can they have some interesting back and forth on this issue, I can see the slippery slope argument a cause for concern here and in this case it would be valid, but also in the vid mention is made of Curves a female only gym that Bros may not join, is this ok ?? on the one hand I want to say leave em alone but then I am afraid I would not be consistent when it jump into race or ethnic issue.
What sayz U Guyz N Galz

The point of a barber shop is to cut Mens hair. It's not unisex, it's a barber shop. For men. There are plenty of salons for women. Wtf?

That used to be the case when I was young, buuuut the Barber shops in my community went unisex since I was a teen no one noticed anything or bitched about it both the Barbers and patrons were mixed now it's just common place.

I read this yesterday - he is a smart fella and this is why.

1. He paid the fine.
2. He did not cut her hair - because he does not have the equipment.
3. His establishment is set-up for men.
4. He sells grog so you can unwind, have a drink, get a trim and go out thereafter.
5. He is starting up a Womans-only salon with Champagne on the house.

He will be rich, he is smart and he WILL NOT cut womens hair in that barber shop.

Going by online comments, I'm certain that if any further advances are made by females to have haircuts - they will be met with the same response - NO - and his customers / supporters will cover the associated fines (until the womans only salon is opened).

Political correctness can piss off and quite frankly she is a bitch for trying this on.

That is insane. Why in the hell do people push their way into things like this?? Why?

As far as I knew not all barbers knew how to cut the latest trendy, womanly hairstyles. Even if they do... Are they the only game in town? Is there nowhere else to go to get your haircut? This passed ludicrous at warp speed. You can just call me Mr. Sulu.

I would never dream of going into a barbershop and asking them to give me the latest cut. As a matter of fact I couldn't even tell you where the barbershops are here. Why? Because when I look to go and get my hair done... I look under hairdresser, beauty salon, etc.

Why can nothing be sacred anymore? I do not understand this need to think and plan where you can park yourself to achieve the most turmoil possible.

The whole world seems to have taken on a Kim Jung Un complex in which it's all about each person (their own tiny dictator) and not only do they strive for a fat "screw those who disagree" Nooooo... It's now to the point of rubbing your hands in glee at the thought of forcing others to do exactly what you want, when you want it, and how you want it.

Yes Dear Leader. A Jennifer Aniston cut Dear Leader? I'm afraid I can only give you a buzz cut Dear Leader. Off to the dogs you go....

I would have taken her in and given her an old fashioned flat top. It's equality you want? You've got it! Take a selfie of that and celebrate the ego.

Seriously.

This is not about someone's health, or civil liberties. This is just being an arse for arse's sake.

IMHO of course. As usual YMMV.

GET A FLOWBEE FFS!!!

ETA - For those of you who are straining to get at your keyboard to ask me... Well what if this was a (fill in flavor of the month here)... Save your typing breath. This is nothing more than a mans barbershop and that's what I commented on. Nothing more and nothing less. When they start treating sick people, when they are the only place left within a 10 mile radius that cuts hair, when they start not cutting gay men's hair, (fill in 1,541 more PC questions you can think of here) I will comment on that situation because yes... It is a whole separate case of apples and oranges.

Some of the comments say that she wanted a male style haircut and was there with her boyfriend so it makes sense why she wanted to get the cut there, if true that is.

Not sure what the big deal would be about giving her a haircut

That's a good point.

This is all going completely bonkers, topsy turvy, arse over tit... What next, Ethnic Idahoians being refused service at the local veterinarian because their woofing and barking did not completely sway the veterinary surgeon that they were in fact canines of the dog variety?

Seriously though, I read wiki.

A barber (from the Latin barba, "beard") is a person whose occupation is mainly to cut, dress, groom, style and shave men's and boys' hair. A barber's place of work is known as a "barber shop" or a "barber's". Barber shops are also places of social interaction and public discourse. In some instances, barbershops are also public forums. They are the locations of open debates, voicing public concerns, and engaging citizens in discussions about contemporary issues. They were also influential in helping shape male identity.

Well good on him but I am willing to bet others will challenge that, sooner or later the Boys and Girls scouts will become unisexed I can't say if it's a good or bad thing but The Times They Are A'changing.

She must have wanted short back and sides because barbering is a different qualification to hairdressing.

It doesn't look much of a 'man-cave' and more like a hairdressers. Obviously any barbers offering whisky and beer makes up for looking too swanky. I wish mine did.

What's the problem? Men's only barbers are all over the place. They specialise in men. Simple as that.

Might as well be going to a salon damn.

Around my area we have a haircut place that caters to men. Hot chicks cut your hair.

Basically the hooters of haircuts. But women are welcome, too.

To be fair though I always hear from my girlfriend that she sees men in her nail salon all the time.

So if a nail salon excluded men would that be ok?

I don't think she went out of her way to try and stick it to them, her boyfriend was getting his haircut there, maybe more two birds with one stone line of thought.

I do think it is really a non issue, I don't think it needs to get pushed farther then and the fine was iffy.

I guess it mostly depends on where you live, like I said earlier in my community in Brooklyn that's old news and it wasn't about ladies demanding their way in they simply walked in and took a seat pointed to a cut and said gimme dat.

I agree with you that they might not be the best equipped to work with everyone, but refusing service seems like the opposite way of handling things.

A simple, "ma'am, I'm sorry we can't do that, here's a list of places around here that can." would work.

Agreed. Haven't got a hair cut in a while but would say a beer while getting one wouldn't be bad.
Feel like it would be hard to drink tho at some points and it not interfere with the cut.

When I was a kid I used to go to Doc's Barbershop and pay a couple of bucks for a "boy's haircut" once a year.
It was basically a high and tight. It was the annual summer cut.
When I came back the next summer he would tell me I was starting to look like a girl.
By the time school pictures rolled around my hair was just about right.
This chick sounds like she's just trying to make a stink. Unless she wants a "boy's haircut."
Nothing wrong with that I suppose. I wonder if she coaches a t-ball team and drives a mini-truck.
As of present, I haven't had a haircut in probably 15 years or so. I have dreadlocks half way to my ass.
When and if I decide to get my haircut, I'll probably hit a barber shop just to see the looks I get.

Gona be alot of men going to salons in the coming weeks. I'm sure the salons won't be fined though, cos of equality right? Jeez

I bet the salon wont refuse them.
They usually take the stance of being able to cut anyone's hair.
