Rather than the extreme solution of jailing her......why not just you know.....fire her?

She cannot be fired, she is an elected official. She needs to be impeached.

Impeached the bitch then?

Or change such a stupid law thats protects beuraucrats.

Well, I probably shouldn't just say Christians either. It's only certain sects of Christians and not all of them. I have no doubt that Scientologists are probably trying to do the same, but probably have to keep their membership a bit more secret.

The worst part being if that ever did happen is that there is no appeal to the highest authority. So when that Highest Authority is also not around to speak for himself, the clergy does it for him. This puts the clergy as the highest authority with their rules as the unchanging law.

As we all know that doesn't work out too well. Absolute power and all.

What is it with Americas obsession in jailing people for non violent crimes?

Do they have contempt of court or something similar in the UK? So if people are ruled against in court in the UK and they say "nuh uh" and don't comply with the ruling what do the courts do then?

Normally they get very very hefty fines.

Prison normaly reserved only for the most serious breachs.

This woman is an elected official....she isn't standing up for anything. She is imposing tyranny.

Were it your president refusing to abide by the constitution, he wouldn't be praised for his conviction. He'd be praise for something else, while his violation of the constitution went on ignored. But thats not the point....the point is as an elected offiicial doing the official work you are elected to do, you have no conviction to stand on. You have the constitution. If you choose your conviction over the constitution you are potentially treasonous and a tyrant.

Changing the law is not an option as it would render lawful elections moot since the elector's choices could be fired by an official they may or may have not elected.

It's like people have forgot that people in Gov. are PUBLIC SERVANTS. They serve the will of the people within the Laws of the Constitution.

When on the job what she thinks or wants don't matter. She's not there to do her own bidding shes there to ours, or those who elected her anyway, within the legal framework.

Gay Marriage is Legal. She's there to give Licenses to Legal Marriages. Period.

Is what she doing a publicity stunt? Is she looking for her 15 minutes of fame or is she going to stand her ground?

She claims "things" have changed since she took office which is true..... gay marriage.

She is against gay marriage because she believes gay marriage destroys the true meaning of marriage as set forth by God's laws.

Will she stands her ground as a Christian or fold and be known as a hypocrite?

Time will tell........

I hear where you are coming from but it is more about protecting the voter. It is to prevent a vocal minority from having someone fired because they disagree with their policies.

She's already pretty much universally considered to be a hypocrite regardless of how she proceeds from here because of all the divorces she's gotten.

This judge is going to crucify her if she reneges

I wish he would jail Huckaby

He wouldn’t last a day and they wouldn’t put him in jail

Will they go through all of this for this one lady:

Even the Governor refuses to bring back the assembly just to accommodate one religious fanatic

Now they want to move the ability to grant licenses to another agency just to accommodate one religious fanatic

If they do that then they have lost and allowed religion to still rule the country

Why? Not that I like Mr. Anti-Science, but tossing people in jail we do not politically agree with seems totalitarian to me.

She's already a hypocrite by using the bible as her guide to marriage refusing it to gays when she's been married and divorced 3 times and committed adultery.

She also has no legal right to stand her ground while in that position. She's a Public Servant and Gov. employee. What she personally thinks should be the law doesn't matter. What IS the Law is what matters. End of story.

Anyone supporting her is also supporting the idea that Public Officials don't have to do the job we elect them for. So anyone supporting her is supporting a corrupt government that doesn't listen to the will of the people.

Idiots!!

We haven't seen the last of this case. There will likely be more shenanigans from "Saint Kim's" office. It wouldn't surprise me to see a few employees in her office replaced before long. There's more than one way to interfere in the process.

And it won't be the last case either, the 'law firm' involved in her case is shady to the least. They seek out people of Christian faith that are anti-gay rights or some other thing along that line and coax them into 'martyring' themselves.

Benevolent Heretic seems to have some info on them.

They are connected to the Dominionist's. That's the folks who want a theocracy in the U.S.

Is there any reason she can't just be fired for not doing her job?

Yes. She's elected. She must be impeached by the state legislature and they don't meet until January.

Like AM said.

Can't they call a special session? Our state legislature does it all the time. It's gotten to the point where I wonder why they even call it a "special" session anymore.

oh, c'mon...Kentucky declared itself a country, not part of the US...it doesn't go by what the supreme court of the united states says, it abides by it's own laws....so....the federal government should immediately cut off all federal funding to the state....if Kentucky won't obey what the federal government says, they get none of it's money, period.....Kentucky is what a religious government would act like.....religious fascists are all the same, whether they come from a church, mosque, or temple....they will tell you HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE, because you are too stupid to decide that.

Only the willingly obtuse would think her a hypocrite. It is not hypocrisy to do your job (that you were elected to do), and it is not hypocrisy to not wipe ones ass with the Constitution.

I suppose if she is a complete moron she can stand her ground. For which she should recieve a conviction, and the appropriate fine/prison sentence. As well as being subject to civil suit by anyone who's rights were trampled under her tyrannical rule.

Yeah, but it's ok because she became an apostolic fundamentalist after her divorces. So she's "forgiven" because she "repented".

She was divorced 3 times which in the eyes of God most definitely makes her a sinner, so isn't she also a hypocrite for denying those who might make mistakes in the eyes of God for the same thing she has written off as forgiven?

With that being said, let he who is without sin cast the first stone?

I just find it odd that people are homeless, children are starving, the world is at war and we collectively as human beings think this is such a HUGE issue.......
