Preppers? Not so much. However, we DO live in the country, raise chickens and ducks, have goats, and my husband and sons are avid outdoorsmen. However, we also live on the SE coast, and Hurricane Season is vamping up. I ALWAYS keep an Emergency Box ready. It's called "Being Prepared". Disasters can happen anywhere, anytime. End of world stuff, nah. But end of MY world, maybe.

I have an entire bugout location and have had for years . Not because of any time the world was supposed to end though. It is because I had foresight enough to see what is coming .
1) a small place to live in the middle of nowhere USA on 3 acres of tested good farming land
2) solar panels and generators for power
3) running water across the property tested for potability
4) Watermill to pump water to the home and for irrigation (can use for back-up power as well.)
5) Throwaway phones with phone cards for communication
6) stocked with enough food to get a good start with
7) Weapons , ammo to do for a while
8) in between a dairy farm and horse ranch.fresh milk and transportation
i.e almost completely off grid and good to go
Forgot to add , RN - 30 year veteran of emergency rooms

We have a very similar set up located 150 miles from the nearest Urban pit of despair. We set this up 8 years ago and now live there full time.

So...you know what this means, right? We've prepared so of course..........
Nothing will happen!

The "Umbrella" effect. Take the Umbrella with you and......it DOESN'T rain.

For that date no, but anyone that doesn't prep at least a bit is a fool in my opinion.

You can't plan for a natural disaster, you can't plan for terrorist attacks, but you can prepare to shift odds in your favor.

So like in New Orleans, people should have had canoes stored in their attics? And every hi rise from now on should include parachutes for every employee on the upper floors?

i have thought about it lately, i think i am going to assemble a "bugoutbag" or whatever, maybe a week or 2 in food, and some water..

i fear that "they" will create a zombie-like state, en masse, with some sort of drug-gas attack..
maybe stimulants combined with crocodil.. that would be bad,,, now there you have some doom porn!

In my 6 years on this site I've lived through about 7 end of the world dates

I've also lived through the Norway spiral, comet elenin, comet ISON, Ebola, the swine flu, numerous scheduled economic collapses, and numerous dates when Obama would have declared martial law

New Orleans - most folks in Louisiana do own canoes , boats , swamp coolers. So yes , why not?
Hi-Rise ? Maybe not parachutes but emergency ladders to deploy or zip lines....
You think in the box.......
How many people could have been saved in history by a little forethought and prep?

seriously though, what is supposed to happen.

Cern will open a gateway to Hell and demons will pour out then Jesus will show up and call down one of the moons from Nirmbu to destroy the demons. This will of course kill almost everyone on the planet but what the hell we are all sinners in his eyes right?

CERN is going to open the gateway to hell at exactly the moment the asteroid arrives, destroying hell and ending all evil in the world.

We'll be celebrating at 1900 hours GMT with the largest orgy ever assembled. Free coc aine and lubricant will be provided at the entrance. We'll break for Gatorade and sandwiches at 2100.

Over the years I have stocked up on some supplies. There is always a doom prediction each year. Just like a firearm it is good to have it and not need than need and not have it. Personally if something does happen the 23rd-28th it will probably be an economic scenario. Over the months I have stocked up on water treatment supplies and vegetable seeds, flour, eggs, the basic stables. After reading about Greece and their situation, I decided to be prepared to ingest very basic ingredients. The seeds I can sprout and eat, I have peanut butter, around here we have a lot of relatively clean water thanks to the mountains and thanks to the county being so against hunting the past years many deer have a high tolerance of humans. If nothing happens then I atlas have a few cheaper grocery bills the following months, or if something does happen that is not economical based then if there is a collapse of society I can survive a little while. I won't give up right away but in the end if it all goes south, atleast the dead will know peace.

If the world is "ending" then all hoarding etc will be of no use to anyone. Because it has ended.... Gone. Fin.
But... Just in case, I bought extra toilet roll.... Just in case..

I always keep about five months worth of dried or canned foods. I keep about a month's worth of drinking water in glass containers. I rotate these items by expiry date and replace them to keep the same amount.
My bug out bag is my regular ultralight camping gear set up. I will use this to travel to my bug out location where I have already buried/stored more survival gear and supplies.
Also keep cash on hand. You never know if the banking system and ATMs will experience a catastrophic outtage. Or where your credit/debit cards do not work.
Always learn new skills like welding and blacksmithing.
Chance favors a prepared mind.

i heard the asteroid comes from planet x and is loaded with ebola!

No no, that asteroid is Planet X. Or what's left of it when the invading Intergalactic Alien Overlord fleet destroyed it. Then they chucked it at Earth to test our defenses. They killed the dinosaurs that way & if we survive it, they'll see that we're fit to be their slaves.

I've gathered a medium sized pile of wood & Hershey's bars to prep for the upcoming war. Think that'll be enough?
