I want to, I really do, but I need to fix too many things in my own life before I can, and it frustrates the hell out of me how helpless I am to make the efforts I want. I'd die tomorrow if it would make a difference, but I'm so busy struggling day to day like everyone else, I'm lucky to just see tomorrow.

I'm stuck in a terrible limbo between myself and a lie... If I can ever find away out of this hell, I want to dedicate my life to making this happen. Sadly they're winning and kicking my ass. It's a wonder I've only attempted suicide once. The only reason I live is because I care and don't wish to hurt my loved ones.

The reason this is important to me is because I really do care about people beyond myself. Sadly as a result I'm really bad at taking care of... well, myself. The odd consequence of which is, not being able to focus on myself enough to pull myself out of helplessness.

Jadestar, I think you allowed your direct connection to the situation to cloud what I was saying.

How dare you? Seriously? This is the kind of dismissive attitude towards people that gets you labelled.

Sweetheart, you can feel the victim all you damned well please. I am allowed to make any personal statement, or declaration, I damned well please.

And guess what...I'd fight on your behalf to make your statement. Doesn't mean I have to agree, but, I would do what I could to afford you the right to say what you wish or feel.

And honestly, your emotional response......I didn't read anything further past what I quoted you saying.

So, cry me a river. You have every right to. And I disagree.

Have a great night!

Well since you didn't bother to read the rest of her post, I'll say it.

This thread is about black transwomen. Jadestar is probably the only transwoman of color we have on ATS. Since she is the only voice capable of personally representing the actual subject matter, it is silly to dismiss anything she has to say on the subject.

Well, sounds like you're in a similar spot I was. I can only state this, the immense weight that drops off your shoulders once you admit the truth to loved ones is unbelievable. It makes things a little easier. Fortunately, I appear to live in a state that has just approved coverage of the whole transition process. This is real change that the transgender rights and awareness movement has brought us and something that probably wouldn't have happened if we didn't speak up as loudly as we did.

Exactly this. If you want to hear the other side of the perspective to have a conducive, intelligent discussion, Jade is the person to listen to. To so blatantly disregard her post is to ignore the other side of the argument completely. The rest of us can only provide partial perspectives.
