Well, this is interesting. I will have to rely on someone from Great Britain to know how reliable this former Government Adviser is.

Buy more food?

www.independent.co.uk...

Damian McBride said a coming economic crisis would be worse than the 2008 recession

A former adviser to Gordon Brown has urged people to stock up on canned goods and bottled water as stock markets around the world slide.

Damian McBride appeared to suggest that the stock market dip could lead to civil disorder or other situations where it would be unreasonable for someone to leave the house.

“Advice on the looming crash, No.1: get hard cash in a safe place now; don't assume banks & cashpoints will be open, or bank cards will work,” he tweeted.

“Crash advice No.2: do you have enough bottled water, tinned goods & other essentials at home to live a month indoors? If not, get shopping.

“Crash advice No.3: agree a rally point with your loved ones in case transport and communication gets cut off; somewhere you can all head to.”

Mr McBride’s suggestions about stocking up on canned goods, setting rally points and stocking up on bottled water were ridiculed by some users on Twitter as over the top, however.

Mr McBride was special adviser to Gordon Brown and head of communications at the Treasury for a period during the last Labour government.

Well, isn't that a self-serving warning? 'Please by pre-packaged foods produced by major manufacturers on case the stock market crashes because we aren't purchasing enough goods from major manufacturers'.
Or, and hear me out on this, because it is a bit far-fetched, we could can our own goods, and start community gardens or home gardens to produce our own food stocks.
And if you have the space, you can toss up a hot house to grow most of the year. Plus, you can still get non-sterile seed stock of most veggies (meaning that the seeds they produce will actually grow, unlike most corn).
And pretty much anywhere you live, you can grow enough of a variety of fruits and vegetables to live off of. Otherwise your ancestors wouldn't have settled there in the first place.

Dont buy any stocks right now. Be careful about canned foods. Many are lined with the worst unhealty plastic type lining. I previously moved hundreds of thousands out of stocks into stable value low risk. I also have several hundreds of pounds of food, probably a half ton. Preserved grains, frozen meats, Powdered eggs, milk, pastas, dried vegetables, and a garden full. All types of seeds, Barrels of preserved water. Filtration equipment, solar panel array and battery banks. Guns and ammo, generators and fuel. Its all insurance for worst case scenareo. Be prepared, but have no fear. Just be wise. Good luck to you all

other than canning what you buy at the farmers markets or the grocery stores, you can't grow food fast enough to avoid starvation if the crash happens tomorrow.

the fastest Vegetables grow in about 30 days, others any where from 60 days to year. if you don't have skills to hunt and fish, or live off the land, or even live in a place where you can do those, you need to stock up on supplies until your drops come in.

the smart ancestors just didn't go willy nilly into the places they settled without supplies, those that didn't bring sh@@ with or had the skills to live off the land, they died.

Yes, if the collapse happens tomorrow, then a great majority of us are truly f'd. But the point of my post was that we can still do our best to be prepared, and rely as little on major corporations as possible.

Yes, now is probably good. One should have a food stock anyway, but when someone like that is quoted, it really means now.

It's always scare tactics, until it happens. Experts have made dire predictions for centuries. It's ALWAYS a good time to be prepared.

The underline point here is just don't wait for it to happen when the indications, the warnings are there...

The last thing anyone wants to confront is the mere reality that they should have done something when they had the chance. Certain high profile people in the know, at least for the sake of humanity, have warned about this coming collapse.

If you think this is just a one of those scare-mongers then think again, go monitor the Global Market, and convince yourself that it will miraculously recover and that all is good.

If you aren't gonna prepare for it, than good luck to you, if the inevitable happens.

Peace

What people should be doing, is getting out of the inner city and getting closer to a natural food and water source. It takes a whole lot of canned foods, more specifically, A vast variety of canned foods to Survive..Over 1200 calories a days worth...If a global meltdown occurs, only the Hillbillies, True Natives and the Elite on their Super yachts will walk away unscathed. The rest will only be helpless victims and herded like cattle to their end.

Its the only way the world can depopulate and bring order to the chaos that's coming

Its all intentional, not a coincidence or bad luck

My sons are vegans, and outdoorsmen. They know what native plants can be eaten safely. Yhey sometimes go out on my property and pick a highly nutritious salad of things that are commonly seen as weeds, and they recite the nutritional content of each. I learned from this and bought books that identify local wild edible native plants. 99 percent of people dont have a clue, and you will be able to survive and eat well year round with the right information. I will rely on this information, and also have hundreds of pounds of beans, rice, pastas, and dried vegetables to fall back on. Not to mention all the meat I have frozen. Cover all your bases. Have a plan. Educate yourself, and be prepared. Be ahead of your peers

Sounds rather ominous, a lot more than just stocks crashing, something really bad.

Well I am off to a place that it will most likely be totally unaffected as the people grow their own food, live by the day, don't rely on banks, almost every transaction is cash and have an endless fresh water supply, sounds like utopia,it is in many ways but it's a 3rd World country.

And do not buy stocks, this is the tip of the iceberg.
If you want a 3 month supply of food that you can store for 20 years and get it cheap go to

store.infowars.com...

I am going to choose to ignore the weird bald guy that gets his life info from bloggers.

Looks like he is delivering financial advice from a s$/thole on the east side to anyone who will listen.

The one thing you can count on is people going to work to feed their kids, that wont stop because a stock market drop.

I can tell you one thing this panic sell will end and go back up. Some people will get filty rich after the correction.

Ask Buffet if he is panic selling right now. He// no, he will be buying a bargain basement prices, on mainstream companies.

I am going to turn 10k into 100k or more. The preppers will sit on their 8k and freeze dried food and ammo in a year.
